It surprised Martin that the door to the labs was unlocked, in fact it probably was the first hint that he should go back to his dorm. But an unlocked door wouldn't stop a man with a mission of chaos. It was a simple plan; Break into the labs (check), find the right chemicals, cause complete chaos at the prom.
Right, so now the chemicals. He looked down at the list written on his hand. Uhh...What does...What does this even say? Ammonium sul-sulfide? Right...so that’s just ammonia...and sulfide...right? Okay yeah...and what else...gunpowder...more ammonium...what does that even say? N-ni-nitrate! Copper...magnesium...uhh...
His eyes flickered across the shelf of chemicals and he started to pull out various bags of chemicals from them. If anyone came across him now no excuse would suffice. But he did not care, it seemed the more chaos he was planning the less he cared about getting in trouble.
He heard the door crack open and jumped under a desk with a small gasp of air.
Now he was seriously screwed.

Nico couldn't say with absolute certainty what drew him into the labs. He thought he'd heard something and he just sort of felt like he should be poking his head in. Technically he hadn't even been in the chemistry lab before now, and he was scheduled to take the course next year. So maybe he was just looking to blow a little time, find something safe to do... like looking at chemicals.
Well, it wasn't as if he had a whole lot of other options. Not here in Bumfuck Montana.
So Nico pushed the door open and looked around. It looked... like a chemistry lab. Joy. Nico began walking through it, looking at all the equipment and chemicals that were on display there. He couldn't help but think of the worth of some of this stuff, all stacked here just to teach people shit they'd never need to know in their lives. Nico drifted toward the chemical shelf, walking by a desk as he did so.
There he reached up and--- paused. He squinted, looking at the shelf. It... it almost seemed as though there were... holes? As though there had been items on the shelf a few moments ago and now...

Shit Shit SHIT!!! He heard shoes click on the floor and close in towards the desk. Right...Right just calm down. Calm down. The footsteps grew closer. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!! Don't tell me to calm down!!! He pushed his whole body back further into the desk.
He stared at the legs of someone as they walked by the desk and turned around to look at the chemical shelf. Okay...calm down...If I can just sneak out of here before they notice it'll be okay...right? Crouched, he began to sneak out from the desk and move to the other side of it. I should find out who I'm dealing with. He poked a curly topped head over the desk and caught the sight of a mustached teen. And now he was having trouble not to laugh, focusing on not letting any sound come from. I wonder if he knows how ridiculous he looks? Maybe he thinks he's as sexy as Freddie Mercury? Oh god must ask, but can't.
In his fight with the giggles he managed to drop one of the packets on the ground with a small thud. He looked down at it then towards the guy, then he started to move quickly to the other end of the row.

Nico kept looking for a while longer. He could feel his fingers twitching, the urge to simply reach up and take one of the vials rising within him. Just the thought of what he could do with it... if he hadn't made promises, if he hadn't been truly wanting to...
What was that? Nico turned, moving slowly, looking throughout the room. He thought he'd heard something moving, and then he'd thought he'd seen a flash of hair: curly and outrageous, moving around. But he didn't see anyone around now. Just the emptied room. Nico frowned, staring at the various desks and trying to figure out what would have caused him to look.
Nico had just given it up for his paranoia and started turning away when he heard a thud. Nico paused. He turned slowly. With slow, measured steps, he walked to where the packet lay. Nico stared at it, then he bent down, reaching to pick it up. As he did, he caught motion.
Nico froze, remaining low, crouching down, still silent, but now looking all around, certain now that someone else was in here.

Okay so now the mustached wonder is looking for me...Should I just tell him I'm here for a project or something? He began looking around for a wall socket or anything. Right so...we're just gonna blow a couple of fuses right? He poked his head above the desk again and caught sight of boy wonder He placed a hand on a wall socket and began to focus around the electricity flowing towards the lights. If I just blow the fuses in the lightbulb. I can just walk out of here in the darkness. He sent an impulse of electricity through the socket with and hoped for the best.

Okay, there was definitely someone else moving around. Nico could hear them moving and thought he saw movement as well. So the question became: did he care? Should he care? If this guy was, like, stealing chemicals, then what did Nico care? That was pretty much what he'd just been thinking about doing.
And it wasn't likely that the guy was a drug dealer or something. if he was, he probably picked up all the worst stuff to try and sell or do whatever with. Nico paused for a moment, his eyes going up as the lights started flickering. That had him smiling, shaking his head, and standing up.
"They're designed to be mutant proof you know," he said. The lights seemed to be proving him right too, flickering a few times and making the room look like it was having a seizure, but nothing more drastic than that was happening, at least... not for the moment.

He ignored the boy wonder's quip and upped the juice he was pouring in, making the lights flicker faster "I'll just have to prove them wrong then wont I?" He gave a sigh as he began to focus on the plug more and more. He waved a hand above the desk and then pointed to the lights before letting out a shoosh.
"Before you ask...I'm not making drugs. If I were I wouldn't be using these chemicals." He flicked some hair from his face before giving another sigh as he upped the ammperes "I'll let you ask me one question if you let me ask you one." The lights would begin to flicker faster as he redirected more energy.[/font]

Nico sighed, rolling his eyes toward the ceiling. He didn't really want to get into some kind of strange pissing contest with this guy, and he had a feeling that was exactly what he wanted. Let the guy try and blow out the fuses. For all Nico knew, it would actually work. The lights were most definitely flickering, so there was that sign at least.
Nico heard the next comment and lowered his gaze to look at the guy again. He just shrugged at the mention of drugs. He had wondered that, though he hadn't particularly cared. The other guy seemed almost worked up about it though, which made Nico wonder. If he wasn't making drugs, then why was he acting like he was some kind of skittish drug addict? That seemed a little contradictory to Nico.
"Sure, whatever," he offered in response to the mention of questions, adding another shrug. Though he was seriously just considering wandering off and letting the crazy do whatever the hell he wanted. Seemed like a good way to avoid a lot of hassle.

Martin's glowed a neon blue for a couple of second before the lights flickered off for a moment before switching back on. " Oh come on!" He raised an eyebrow over towards Nico, as if he had only just noticed someone else was there. "Oh right questions..." He clicked his fingers and got to his feet "What's with this?" He gestured to the hair above Nico's lips "I mean are you really going for the whole moustache look? Or do you just really have a thing for Catapillars under your nose? No offence, of course, whatever rocks your boat or canoe..."
Moving back down to the plug he waited a few moments before looking back up "Well don't you have a question for me? Or are we gonna discuss your obsession with bum fluff near your mouth?"
Post by Nico Martell on May 13, 2015 19:29:08 GMT -6
Nico looked up at the lights as they flickered, then back at the guy. He raised his brows, not quite saying the words, but communicating the "I told you so" quite loud and clear. The excitable guy (who reminded Nico a lot of Jack) seemed to be recalling the whole question thing.
And then asked about...
Nico raised a brow, the confusion apparent on his face. "I skipped shaving," he said by way of explanation, not sure why this guy would immediately jump to "growing a mustache" and why he got so obsessed with it. Nico did have to admit that "bum fluff" was a new descriptor of it to him. He also had to wonder if this guy was actually some sort of twelve year old who'd somehow gotten a hold of aging powers or some sort of shapeshifting.
Question? Nico shrugged for a moment. The other guy had been the one who wanted to talk, after all. Though Nico supposed he could play along: "What you on?" he asked, smiling slightly. Because clearly this was not natural behavior for most people.
Post by Martin Grey on May 14, 2015 16:34:16 GMT -6
"You forgot to shave? Is that really the story you want to go with, boy wonder? What bout you could say that it gives you your ability? Or that you just really wanna be a cowboy film star?" He cocked his head to the left before crouching back down to fiddle with the wall socket. Wait, why are you still fiddling with the lights? Havent you already shown your face to him? Are you really just trying to fuse the lights to prove him wrong? You know that's crazy and a complete wast of time, right? Though I doubt you'd care.
"The question isn't what I'm on, but rather what I'm not on. Although I'm guessing you're just trying to figure out why I'm a bit bat crap crazy. Well the real answer to that question is that I no longer sleep as a side-effect of my wonderful ablility so I have a lot of time to myself whilst everyone is asleep at night. And you know what they say 'you'll drive you self crazy before your friends (or lack thereof) do)'." Pulling a piece of copper out of one of the bags he would jam it into the wall socket and started poking it around, conducting a massive value of electricity through it causing the lights to start flickering again. Smoke would begin to curl up from the socket "So what's your superpower then, boy wonder?"
Post by Nico Martell on May 14, 2015 17:29:59 GMT -6
Wow, this guy was twenty pounds of insanity in a five pound bag. Nico kept staring at him while he ranted on about his "excuse" for having a "mustache," neither of which Nico could think of without putting quotation marks around it. The guy kept fiddling with the electronics too, which Nico wasn't even going to pretend to understand. This situation was becoming more surreal by the moment, and Nico would have already taken off for the door if he wasn't worried that this guy might be the sort to stalk you and rip your face off to add to his face collection.
And there was Nico without his knife for once.
Not on anything. Well, definitely time for Nico to--- wait, not sleeping because of a power? That seemed... unlikely. Though Nico had only been a mutant for a few years, so he guessed he wasn't that much of an expert on it. It just seemed like something that the powers that be would have figured out by now.
More fiddling, and then a question. "Phasing," Nico replied, not seeing any reason not to give the crazy guy more answers. "I walk through stuff," he added, because obviously the other guy's intelligence was in question. "Got a death wish?" he jerked his head toward the electrical sockets, just in case there was some other crazy behavior that might have spawned that question.
Post by Martin Grey on May 18, 2015 15:03:49 GMT -6
One of Martin's arms started to spasm as he conducted more and more electricity. He raised an eyebrow at Nico as he started to shake " I know what phasing is, boy wonder." The smoke continued to curl up and he stared at Nico with his bright blue eyes.
"Oh this..." He looked down at the wall socket and gave the guy a grin which would unnerve most people "I might possibly have a death wish...I can't honestly say. I have no idea what the limit of electricity I can conduct without adverse effects, so..." The lights began to flicker faster as he spoke faster " You see I have the wonderful ablility of...well they actually haven't decided if it will manifest further or not. But anyway I can manipulate electricity..." He looked back down at the wall socket and bent down to jam the piece of copper further inwards.
"Sooooo...question...question...querie? No question..." He bit his lip and looked over boy wonder "Right, so what are you doing in here anyway?" He cracked his knuckles and turned back to the wall socket.
Post by Nico Martell on May 22, 2015 23:43:34 GMT -6
Nico just raised his brows as the other guy insisted that he knew what phasing was, along with adding some sort of nickname that Nico didn't quite "get." He also didn't quite get why someone would attempt to test the limits of their power through a set of lights like this unless they wanted to end up fried. This guy clearly wasn't dealing with a full deck, and Nico was starting to wonder why he hadn't already taken off and left him to whatever. Surely someone would be around to check on them soon: the lights weren't exactly easy to miss.
Nico didn't bother saying any of this though. What would they do? Ask why he hadn't stopped the idiot? Ask why he hadn't turned him in? The guy was crazy, and that was enough answer for both.
Though crazy offered another question. This one had Nico shrugging: "Boredom," he replied. easy when the answer was both honest and one syllable. Nico watched the other guy for a few moments before looking toward the door. "You going to freak out if I try to leave?" he asked.
Struck him as a fair question, and something any sane person would be asking right about now.

It appeared as if Nico, for reasons unknown, wanted to leave. Whether or not Martin actually acknowledged that fact is a different question entirley. "Do you mean freak out at you or in general? Cause that really is just two questions hidden as one. But no I shan't freak out, unless you go and tell someone that I was in here. If you do, I shall be forced to figure out where you're dorm is and fuse all the electronics/ break a couple of watches/ break your legs" His hands fly about in various directions before stopping completely, his face turning very serious. "I'm serious about you not telling people I was here..." He cocked a smile at Nico "If that's alright with you?"
