Karen nodded as he looked around at the blueprints that Tim had laid out. Since the headsets were done, he supposed it wouldn’t be so bad to add something to his list of things to build. He had learned to pace himself so that the things he built wouldn’t fall apart as much. It wasn’t in his best interest when he was letting his best friend test out the new products.
“So I was thinking, the whole funding idea might not be so bad, I could even start my own company. Of course, i'd have to perfect the products and make sure they don’t malfunctions. I’m thinking I could make a less advanced watch like the one you have and the headsets, offer them to tech geeks for a small fee. It would definitely help us buy the parts for your bat sonar thing.” Karsen settle on top of one of the desk as he watched his friend play with the new toy.
‘Yeah possibly, although Erin kind of creeps me out but i’m willing to work with her, as long as we can get some robots to chase her around campus or something. That girl has got some serious issues with robots rising up and enclaving humanity.”’
Karsen rolled his eyes “I was going to list all the features but you can just find out for yourself now” He said sticking his tongue out at his friend. It was good natured of course, there weren’t many people that got to see the first draft of his projects. He only liked to show the people who could really appreciate what they gadgets could do.

Oh, now Karsen thought funding was a good idea? Tim couldn't help but chuckle at that, even as he was nodding along in agreement. "Yeah, I think the school'd be willing to throw some money your way. Or we could trick one of the rich kids. Between Ellen, Frank, Felix, Erika, and Elsa..." Tim paused, crinkling his brows, "man, there's a lot of rich girls around here. Oh, and Felix," he laughed at that, shaking his head. "But yeah, I think you could definitely try something. I can help with some of the advertising, but I gotta watch it. Not great for an activist to be seen shilling your products or anything."
Tim nodded with that. Yeah, he definitely didn't want to do yet more damage to his persona. He did enough as it was, considering his tendency to lash out and that selfish bit of him he couldn't quite beat down. Even now, a part of him was seriously considering asking Karsen for a part of the funds.
Thankfully there was something to laugh and joke about. "Probably do her good. Girl needs some exercise," Tim kept messing with the watch a few more times before it started playing out a tune. "Hey, that's not bad," he admitted, nodding a bit to the beat. However, as he kept poking, he was finding the volume increasing and not stopping. "Uh, is it supposed to be doing this?" he asked, looking over at Karsen with raised brows.

Karsen was listening to Tim talk about funding while he was thinking about Drew and how he could benefit from helping the guy out. He didn’t need to tell Tim about how much he had strayed from the light before and after Drew had pop up into his life. Now that he thought about it, maybe getting those numbers weren’t that hard but it would give Tim input into the sonar gadget. Still the list of names, he stored away for later.
“I was thinking about setting up a website, and then letting the address go through the channel. Im sure the school has the email addresses for the students somewhere, I just need to hack the system.” He said shrugging his shoulders, he wouldn’t want to ruin what Tim was trying to do as an activist. He could totally see Tim as some well-known rights activist and him as the tech geek behind an innovative company.
“Hey, you can always say you're endorsing because a portion of the profits will go to your cause, I’d be down with donating” Not to mention, that would boost up his sales because people were into charity and giving back and all that. To be honest, it was a win-win as long as he sold the things he knew worked perfectly. Which were only about half the things because the others were still in prototype stage. He laughed “Okay i’m just saying, if I died it’s because she found me after I sent my five robots after her.”
Karsen’s eyes went wide as the volume seemed to increase he sighed and waved his hand over the watch shutting it off. “Let me see if I can fix it real quick, I think something is jamming the volume input” He waited for Tim to hand him the watch so he could set it down on the desk. Once it was down he waved his hand over it watching as it came apart. “Hmmm”

Yeah, they'd definitely need a website. Tim wasn't even going to try to argue against that. Between the two of them they could definitely cobble something together too, probably something that looked pretty good too. Tim could again feel that greedy part of him slithering around in the back of his mind.
Ah, and it just got worse as Karsen offered a suggestion. "Well, you could always donate stuff to me too," Tim pointed out, grinning slightly. "You know, for a good cause. Look great for your PR," he had to chuckle at that. Then he reached up to adjust his glasses again, trying to get them rebalanced.
There was something about murderbots that Tim definitely would have addressed had the watch not exploded with sound. Instead he practically tossed the thing Karsen's direction, then watched as it flew apart. "Man, I will not get over that," he said, watching. He wheeled a little closer to get a better look without hovering. "Seriously, that is cool shit. I just squeak and get a little batlike. Like a B-grade Batman villain. You man," Tim shook his head, "that is some superhero shit right there."

Karsen just shrugged his shoulders “Why donate, you already get any function device of i’ve invented, just gotta tell me. You can’t donate what’s already yours dude.” He said shrugging his shoulders. He figured as long as he didn’t ask where Karsen got the money he had now, they’d be good. It wasn’t as if he was stingy with his stuff, he didn’t mind sharing with Tim as long as Tim didn’t give him a reason to withdraw his friend ship. It was simple, Karsen was helpful and not selfish about certain things and one of them happened to be technology because he could always make more eventually. He still had a very hard time with the whole sharing his Doritos but he was working on that.
“Trust me it’s more trouble than it’s worth” Even as he said that Karsen he knew he wouldn’t change his power for the world. He did like his power, he got a really cool one, though sometimes he wondered what it would be like to have Tim’s power. He had met a few technopaths like that Castle teacher...well close enough. Also Maddie because she was pretty cool, but he had yet to meet someone like Tim...power wise.
He switched a few pieces around and the waved his again watching as it came together, he needed to make sure the parts didn’t switch back up. Since they seemed to just snap up into the watch instead of cross over each other. That was a pretty good sign “Okay the volume should work, ima draw up some blueprints tonight to see if I can’t get everything a bit more spaced out even if I gotta make the hologram/projector screen thing a bit smaller.” He said trying to explain it Tim the best he could, but he was really horrible at explaining things.

"Thanks man. Again: super cool," Tim had to smile a bit at the semi-irony there. Technically the two of them had been and by all rights should be, social pariahs. Nobody hung out with the nerds, and they had the double whammy of being black nerds on top of that. But things had been shifting lately and, well, even if they hadn't: the two of them knew who they were, and that was definitely cool.
Though Tim still thought that Karsen had the better power, personally. If he could have any power in existence, Tim definitely would have opted for what Karsen used so easily. Tim didn't have too much envy there, but he still couldn't help but look with awe and some jealousy whenever a friend used a power that was infinitely cooler than his.
"Awesome," Tim said, taking it. He had grown used to Karsen not quite being able to explain his inventions, so by now he pretty much just waved the comments off. "It's cool: you know I like playing around with stuff," Tim adjusted a few more things, adjusting, tweaking. At least it wasn't letting out squeals. "And hey, feel free to just tell me to fuck off if I get too demandy or anything," Tim said, looking up at his friend and smiling. "I can take it: I'm a big boy now."

Karsen shrugged it wasn’t that big of deal, things could be a lot worst and at least it was willing thing. He wasn’t being bullied or blackmailed into giving up his stuff, not that he would ever give into such things. Nah, he’d rather go down than give up his stuff to those type of people “Don’t mention it dude, My room is way too small to fit all my gadgets, I need somewhere to stay it all” He said giving his friend a cheeky smile. These were times he loved, the dorky goofing around non-serious times mostly because he was either at school, talking to a counselor or arguing with his dad and assuring his mom on the phone. There was the odd meeting with people around the school but he didn’t count those as actual fun times because he wa so awkward.
He didn’t comment anymore on the power thing, he just let it die up when it did and tried his best to change topics when it came other times. He was getting pretty good at because if he was being honest his power rocked. If he could not have the side-effects it would be better but he was learning to skateboard despite the lack of coordination even if having to basically relearn every trick was frustrating.
Karsen rolled his eyes “That’s good let me know how it works out and if it gives you any problems. You’ll be the official KFI beta tester, as soon as we get funding and the business started you’ll get paid” He said smiling at his best friend all goofy like. He snorted at the big boy comment and rolled his eyes ”They grow up so fast”

Tim had to smile as Karsen just waved it off. Yeah, that was pretty much how Karsen just handled these things. Totally okay to hand off tech that would revolutionize industries. It was amazing that they hadn't ended up deciding to do something more impressive and helpful before.
Then again, they'd been broke and flown under the radar for years, so maybe it wasn't that surprising.
"You know you want to unload any awesome tech on me, you just gotta ask," Tim replied. He began poking a few more buttons, adjusting things. Yeah, this was definitely how he'd end up right back in a wheelchair; poking and prodding something that would have been better left alone.
There was an eye roll and Tim poking more buttons again, "Ah, making me your guinea pig again. I see what I am in this relationship," he winked at his friend, only to end up laughing again at the grow up comment. He shook his head. "not too grown up. Which reminds me: we should totally plan another stupid mutant trick soon. It's been way too long since we've tried something, and I've only got a few more weeks in the chair," he tapped his current ride, nodding definitively. It was definitely something to plan for the near future... and to hopefully not sustain serious injury trying.

Karsen was pretty sure that he should keep everything under lock and key, that way there was no way for other companies to steal his stuff. The ironic thing about that is they’d have to steal the blueprints because even if didn’t understand exactly how build the stuff half the time. Looking at a blueprint it was it came together, other times he was like how did I build that.
“Ill remember that when I start on my version of google glass” He said shrugging his shoulders. It was nice that he had someone to test out his stuff without having to put up flyers and worry about talking to people. He was sure that the people he shared his dorm with were getting tired at the late night drilling and the random malfunction noise.
“Of course, it’s a very important part” Karsen nodding slowly, but laughing none the less. He could cross off, the watch from his todo list for now, focusing on other things. At Tim’s reminder of the trick they needed to do. “Uhm….rocket skateboards…..ooh we can do some kind of race...I still think we should make robots hold hockey sticks and chase Erin. We can record it and call it when GEt Prepared” Yeah Maybe Karsen was really keen on bothering the girl, but in his defense she totally set herself up for that. That and he had no idea what their mutant trick should be.

Tim was fairly certain that mutants like Karsen had come up with the idea for Google glass about the time the internet happened, and he was tempted to say as much. He probably would have, except they were already distracting one another with talk about the important bit: stupid tricks. Tim was already grinning as Karsen started entering "mad genius" mode.
"Rocket skateboards would be pretty sweet," he agreed. He paused, squinting, "I get the feeling that---did you seriously suggest that we stalk Erin with robots?" Tim had to laugh, and eventually point at his friend. "You got issues, man."
Though Tim ended up lowering his fingers and tapping the arm rest. He tilted his head, his brow crunching as he went deep in thought. "Though that does sound pretty damn sweet. You sure you could rig up robots though? I thought that was still sci fi stuff?" Tim paused, looked around for a moment, and then back at Karsen. "Said the bat talking mutant in the hyped up wheelchair wearing a tv phone to his best friend who made VR headgear out of spare AV parts."

Karsen rolled his eyes “Hey, now...She broke into my room, i’m only returning the favor and she was acting like I was weird. Besides if anything I'll take blame and then hide” He said snickering. Okay maybe he had a problem, but in all actuality he wasn’t sure what to think of the girl. It wasn’t as if the robots would do any home or anything.
“Oh if you wanna do the whole rocket skateboard thing, We can totally see if Drew can get us something we can build a rocket out of, and then it’s simple from there. And i know how to get the magnets to stick this time.” He said proudly, he was hoping that time would go for the robots things so he quickly answered the questions about getting robots to actually do the job and stuff.
“Actually as long as we keep the command simple and make it like the robots run on a gps and track her phone or something. Also her heat signature just incase, oh and they can moved and hold the hockey sticks, we’re only gonna make it seem like they're advanced.” he said nodding getting this slightly evil look on his face at the thought of playing a prank on the girl. he knew he was being ridiculous but Karsen rarely had a reason to do things these days. Besides he was being friendly even if he was using the girl as an experiment. She did volunteer to test out his infrared camera.

Karsen's comment had Tim wincing. "Seriously? Straight up broke in? Knew the girl was a bit weird, but da-ahm: that is creepy," he had to pull another face at that. He knew that Erin's power allowed her to sort of sneak around and that she generally didn't like dealing with people. Tim didn't really blame her when it came to that latter part: he wasn't a huge fan of most people himself. Though he was getting better, thanks to getting far too much of Lux's viewpoint rubbing off on him.
Still, he could see why Karsen would want to strike back, and he didn't see any real harm in it. Plus, the rocket skateboard thing apparently involved Drew, and Tim definitely didn't want to mess around with that if he could afford it. The guy had funded him once upon a time and had pretty much left Tim well enough alone. Tim supposed he should intervene and try to help his friend out or something, but he still had a bit of "better him than me" stuck in him.
So yeah, robots. Tim had to raise his brows and point at his friend. "You have spent far too much time figuring this out," he told the guy, adding a short nod. "But yeah, I'm down for rigging something up. I think we've got some basic GPS units still in the comp lab that we can use. You might have to do your tech magic on them, but they should work with a bit of fiddling. I know how to get hockey sticks too..." Tim had to chuckle. "oh, white people," he shook his head, then took another breath. "Can probably get Erin into position too. So that just leaves... did you say heat signature?" he had to look up at Karsen. That did sound doable, but it was sort of worrying to hear his friend sort of casually mention it. Well, worrying and/or cool: Tim wasn't quite sure which way to lean on that one.
Post by Karsen Ford on May 19, 2015 22:01:32 GMT -6
Karsen nodded with a look on his face that said oh yeah big time. He didn’t want to comment further even if he did understand not wanting to deal with people. He still didn't appreciate her breaking into his room and stuff. There were boundaries, his room was his lab and stuff. He was glad that the rocket idea was put off, he hadn’t wanted to let Tim know just how many times He had used his gift for evil...such as stealing and making companies think he actually bought supplies.
’Oh yeah this sounds epic, And yes heat signature. When she was in my room I asked her infrared camera’s could pick her up when she was using her power. Also i can just take apart all my other robots to make bigger ones.” Yes this was a worthy cause to use defect robots on and stuff. He turned to Tim with an innocent who me look on his face.
‘Maybe i’ve already drew up the blueprints” He took his glasses off and rubbed off on his shirt. yeah it was hard being awesome sometimes. And yes had been thing about this revenge thing for awhile, he had no life to speak of.

Yeah, definitely sounded epic. And Tim found himself getting a bit more excited as Karsen talked about infrared and how he could rig it up. Though he had to wince at the mention of taking robots apart to make bigger robots. "Dude, that is some mad scientist style talk right there," he had to point out. Sometimes he did wonder about Karsen, particularly if it came to revenge like this. Then again, Tim hadn't exactly been great in the past couple of years, and he was the one offering to get parts for robot stalkers.
"And that's not making it better," he continued as Karsen talked about blueprints. He watched his friend remove his glasses and had to do the same to his own. He then nodded. "Okay, well, I'm down for helping with this. Erin probably needs the exercise, and c'mon," Tim spread his hands, "it's robots chasing people with hockey sticks? How can I not get behind that?"
Tim grinned wide and held a hand up to give his bud a hi-five. Because if anything deserved such a motion, it was talk about building killer robots.

Karsen smiled and shrugged “I hope you’re not just getting that feeling because I’ve been called that before” It was totally in his old school and did have the tendency to bring robot parts to class but that wasn’t him any more. He had matured from the weird, thirteen year old he used to be, at least he liked to think so.
”Hey, I was thinking about this once she told me about the fear of the robot apocalypse, it was the perfect prank.’ Okay maybe he did need some professional help but hey they were all crazy and mutants and stuff. It was like Harry Potter, they had weird ass spells and pranks and stuff.
He returned the Hi-five and smirked “So about how long do you think it will take to get everything together?” He asked sitting back on a desk.
