NAME: Acacia Mae Cassidy
NICKNAME: Just Acacia, those who want to die call her Cia
AGE: Just turned sixteen
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: Student
FACE CLAIM: Frieda Rose
POWER:
Sonic Blast
Acacia’s sonic blast powers originate with her voice. They produce sound waves that radiate much like an earthquake. The epicenter would be Acacia’s mouth, where the sound starts. The actual force of the waves are stronger the closer they are to the epicenter. For instance, if Acacia were to scream with her mouth pressed up against a wall, the damage would be limited to a small area, probably the size of a baseball, and would go straight through the wall, damaging things in the next room. Inversely, if she were facing the wall, standing about ten feet away, the damage on the wall would be less severe but it would cover the entire surface of the wall.
The blast itself is more like a strong wind, than a sound. Although there is definitely a sounds that accompanies it, the actual damage comes from the force of the waves she produces. These waves can be strong enough to know down a wall, or weak enough to shake a glass of water. The strength depends greatly on the quality, strength, pitch, and volume of her voice at the time of the scream. For example, if she were perfectly healthy and sang at the top of her voice, the waves could probably travel about twenty feet. Of course, illness can cause these things to be weaker. If she were to have a sore throat as a result of a cold, the waves would be weaker and would probably only go about ten feet, even if she were using the same volume and pitch. This is caused because the quality of the sound falters.
Beyond using the ability in basic defense, Acacia doesn’t see how it can be useful at all.
Limitations
There are many limitations to Acacia’s ability. The most obvious ones would be the distance the sound waves actually go, and how long she can use the ability for. Like mentioned above, the distance and amount of damage is dependent on many things including quality of sound, volume, and pitch. Beyond normal human capabilities, Acacia cannot create sound waves that only dogs could hear, because her throat is incapable of producing that noise. Likewise, Acacia does not have super-human vocal chords. This means her voice is limited completely to her abilities as a singer. Taking into account that her vocal chords are stronger than most due to her training, she still couldn’t possibly take down an entire building or anything like that.
Her power is also limited by her physical health. For example, if she were to get a cold, or lose her voice for any reason, her power can be much weaker or even inaccessible in worst case scenarios, like bronchitis.
Side-Effects
The most change to Acacia since the power was discovered roots itself in her personality. Once a feisty, sassy teen pop-star in training, Acacia is now confined to a quiet life with as little singing and talking as possible. Glass and mirrors break easily at a normal speaking level because she can not control the power.
As far as physical side-effects go, Acacia’s vocal chords are able to easily hold up to the extra friction caused by the sound waves. The only thing she has noticed since she obtained this power is that she can get really terrible headaches from using it too much. As far as the health of her throat is concerned, it holds up like any normal person’s throat. She can only sing so much or yell so long before she eventually gets a sore throat and loses her voice.
APPEARANCE SECTION: Acacia's hair falls to her waist in a pile of dirty-blonde waves. Every now and then she will take the time to straighten it out, but because that takes hours she generally just leaves it wavy. Her eyes are a dark, chocolate brown. This feature is one that Acacia never cared for. In the past, she always strived to look her best because she had big plans for fame but now she is less bothered by her plain, brown eyes.
Acacia is a small person. She stands at about 5 foot 3 and weights barely 110 pounds. Her small waistline is completely thanks to a personal trainer she has had since she was five. Despite being so small, Acacia is a healthy sixteen year old girl. Sure, she watches what she eats and works out more than she studies, but all of those things were for the sake of a career she probably will never have now.
MUST HAVE APPAREL: Acacia used to be a flashy, superficial girl. She was the kind of person to send her mom's assistant to wait in line so she could be the first person to own that newest brand name purse. Since she found out about her powers, though, Acacia has become slightly more grounded. She still wears dresses more often then not but she won't be sending off anyone to buy anything anymore.
PERSONALITY SECTION: Inside, Acacia is still the sassy, spoiled brat that she was before she came to this new school. Her mind is always thinking of her snarky come-backs and sometimes, when things get heats, she will become angry at someone and yell.
Of course, after the accident she is less likely to yell at people and tries her best to keep her thoughts to herself. Because of her powers, she can come across as shy and quiet, but in reality she has never had a moment of stage-fright in her life. She wants more than anything to be able to control her power so that she might, one day, become the singer she always wanted to be.
EXTRA QUIRK: More than anything, Acacia wants to be a pop star. Even though her favorite food is pizza, she refuses to eat anything more than two-hundred calories for fear of gaining too much weight.

WORTHY MENTIONS: Danella Mallory - Governess
CHILDHOOD: Being the only child of a wealthy man and his CFO wife, Acacia was spoiled rotten from day one. By the time she was seven, she was enrolled in a full blown music school completely with vocal lessons, instrumental instructors, and live performances for end of year exams. In truth, she wasn’t half bad. She really did have the makings of a popular pop star.
Before she was ten, Acacia knew how to play four musical instruments and was working on learning a fifth. She was singing at least once a month on stages across her small city and was capturing the hearts of her fans as the young, child singer. Any free time she had was spent with her governess, Danella. In fact, Acacia had mentioned that if she passed her mother on the street, she probably wouldn’t recognize her.
ADOLESCENCE: The older she got, the better she sounded. By the time Acacia had turn thirteen, she had graduated from her homeschooling program with a high school GED and was spending every waking second in a practice room or in lessons for music. It was the best, most fun thing Acacia had ever done. When she was practicing, Acacia spent her free time humming to herself or listening to music and deciding how she could have sang the song better.
It was in the midst of this, that Acacia’s powers emerged. A few weeks before she turn sixteen, Acacia was in a lesson with her vocal and guitar coaches. They were working together with her to write a song for her next little performance review. She leaned into the mic and sang a few words. When she hit the high note, both coaches were thrown through a wall and hospitalized. It was there, standing amongst the rubble, that Acacia realized she wouldn’t be able to sing if she couldn’t control whatever that was.
Less than a month later, she was standing in a dorm room at a school designed for people like her. She has only been at the school for about a week and hasn’t gotten any better at controlling her power. In fact, her refusal to speak at all is making in difficult for anyone to even help her. She carries a dry erase board with her so she can write messages to people in a last ditch effort to avoid speaking.
SAMPLE:This is from a different site.
Acacia was pressed tightly against the wall, hoping beyond reason that her heart would calm itself so she could hear whether or not her was coming closer. Acacia sucked in a deep breath and held it, trying to strafe along the wall towards the exit so that she could escape in to the woods and hide from reality. She had a vague memory of being told not to go into the woods after dark but her heart definitely was not prepared to be surrounded by angst motivated demigods who all seem to have an attitude problem.
A sort of calm fell over her for a moment and it made her pause. Did he leave? That was when she felt the rush of adrenaline as he jumped out of no where and hollered something she didn't quite catch. She fell backward and landed hard on her butt, wincing a little. She hardly noticed that pain because she her heart was beating so hard in her chest she could hardly breathe.
Despite the fact that her mind was reeling with ideas of how to escape, her fingers instinctively reached to tug the knots from her hair and fix her appearance. It wasn't as if she really cared that much but something always made her strive to look pretty in front of people, especially good looking people like the boy in front of her. Not sure of what to say, Acacia just let out a heavy sigh and pulled herself off the ground, straightening her denim shorts and smoothing the wrinkles out of her pink tank top.
After making herself look presentable her eyes finally found his, "Hi." She muttered, kicking herself for being so lame. Even if she didn't like being around people, she still wanted to make friends.
