NAME: Charis Linn Killian
NICKNAME: Chris
AGE: 17 - October 15th 1996
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: B.A. Student
FACE CLAIM: Michelle Trachtenberg
POWER:
Vocal Mimicry
Charis can mimic voices and sounds with her whacky vocal chords. She can do so with voices more easily than sounds not normally made with the human mouth, and often enjoys doing so in a very mocking manner. However, there are a few limits to her ability. It's much, much easier if she has heard the thing she mimicking within the last ten minutes, or else she has to concentrate a lot harder and try a few times before she gets it right. With sounds not normal to the human voice, Chris has to have heard the sound many, many times before, like, on the level of having it practically memorized.
Limitations
- Accents, male voices, and voices heard more than ten minutes ago are harder and require more practice before she can mimic them properly.
- To make non-human sounds, Chris must have the sound practically memorized or have it actively playing in her ears - hence the reason for a lot of strange things on her ipod.
- Those who have telepathy can generally tell that it's just a mimic, not the actual sound.
Side-Effects
- Scratchy throat
- Loss of voice
- Often gets strep throat and tonsillitis
- Can get stuck using someone else's voice if she has been using it for over an hour straight
APPEARANCE SECTION:
For such an explosive, exciting personality, Charis has a rather small frame and stature to contain it in. Standing at 5'3", Chris is more than used to having to look up at the people she talks to. However, if you call her short, she will very viciously correct you that she is only "vertically challenged." Chris' hair is long, flowing all the way down to her waist. She was born with very fine, curly hair, but as she has gotten older, it has gotten thicker and her once wild curls have been tamed into natural waves. She most often wears her hair natural and parted down the middle, though for more formal occasions she would straighten it. Her hair is a dark brown color, with natural sun highlights and it is dyed black underneath. In the rare moments when Chris is feeling shy, she often uses her hair as a curtain to hide parts of her face. Chris has big, bright blue eyes which she often lines in dark eyeliner. Her nose is small and button like, and her lips are large and pouty, creating a pixie-esque face. Chris, for her size, has decent enough curves, with her mothers small waist and wide hips. She has always been proud and confident in her body, and hasn't let negative body image affect her since her very early teen years.
Chris has several tattoos and piercings that she has been getting since she was fourteen. Her tattoos are as follows:
- A large, steampunk key surrounded by cogs and a large, open pocket watch with Roman numerals stretches from her mid ribcage to her hip bone on her right side. It is all in black and white.
- A small, rusted anchor on her wrist with the words "I refuse to sink" on top in bold, gothic print and "I would rather swim" on bottom in the same font. Also black and white tones.
- A single feather just beneath her clavicle on the left side. It is about four inches long and two inches thick at its widest point. The ends of it are burning, using music notes instead of ash, the "ash" flying upwards. The only spot of color is the music notes, which are a vibrant orange/yellow tone.
The only type of piercing she will wear are small silver studs. She has three in her ears, one small one in her nose and one in her belly button.
MUST HAVE APPAREL:
Chris likes the color black. She isn't goth or "emo" and it isn't her favorite color. She just likes how it looks on her. Therefore, about eighty percent of the clothes in her closet are mainly black. She has a thing for old band t-shirts, and often pairs them with a pair of skinny jeans and her Chucks. Chris is rarely ever in sandles or heels, and will wear her many, many different Chucks as often as she gets the chance. Chris also has a whole plethora of bracelets that she wears, and is almost never seen without some sort of bracelet on, though she wears less on the wrist with her anchor tattoo so that people can see it.
PERSONALITY SECTION:
When first introducing yourself to Charis, it is easy to believe that she is a quiet, antisocial girl who buries herself in books and music and likes no one except her equally grumpy cat, Loki. However, this is a misconception of Chris completely. While she is quiet at first, Chris quickly opens up to become a very sarcastic, witty, flirtatious and fun loving girl. Her dry humor and sharp tongue, however, can rub some people the wrong way in the long run, and often gets her in trouble with teachers and trainers who are easy to offend. Trouble, trouble, trouble.... It's definitely something that follows Chris around. Chris is undoubtedly a thrill seeker, and will go to great lengths to procure a "fix" of whatever little adrenaline rush she can get herself into. Whether that be drinking on school campus, riding her dad's old motorcycle or kissing someone just for the hell of it. At the end of the day, Chris is a teenager who knows that she is only young once, and wants to savor every moment of it.
Growing up with a librarian for a mom tends to lead to one thing - a love for books. Fantasy, romance, sci-fy, classic, it doesn't matter to Chris. Since she learned to read at age three, Chris has immersed herself in books for hours upon hours at a time. As she got older, she also incorporated a love for music, and would spend most days after school stuck in a corner of the large library her mother worked at in Portland, completely oblivious to the rest of the world. While she adored the ability of authors to express themselves through the written word, Chris had no luck with that herself, and quickly went looking for other means of portraying her personality. At age seven, Chris was given her first violin, and from that point on she was a goner. When she wasn't reading or doing homework, Chris was playing violin. Her favorite place to play was in the uppermost level of the library, where only the professors from nearby colleges came and went. Every weekend, however, not even the library could contain her. Out she went, strolling the streets of Portland with her friends and getting into whatever she could.
Chris dislikes uptight people or people who think they are better than her because she likes to have fun with her life. She also really dislikes emotional scenarios, because she never knows how to handle them appropriately. People who intentionally push her buttons will get thrown out of her life as soon as possible. People who disrespect others choices or decisions are not bound to get on her good side.

Chris also has a supreme and undeniable love for food. Her perfect marriage proposal? A diamond ring buried in a burrito. SO ROMANTIC.
FATHER: James Marcus Killian, owner of a music store downtown, currently age 57.
MOTHER: Katherine Lilian Killian (Previously Harper), librarian, currently age 50.
SIBLINGS: Jackson Trevor Killian, soon-to-be Freshman at a normal high school, currently age 14.
PET: Loki, her grumpy black cat.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
WORTHY MENTIONS: Uncle Micky, psychiatrist in a private practice. Believes that his brother is unfit to be a parent. Chris hates him.
CHILDHOOD:
Chris was born in the completely weird, incredibly overcast, overwhelmingly green home of the infamous Voodoo Donuts: Portland, Oregon - oh, and the donuts really aren't that great. It was on the second of May, 1996 that James and Katherine Killian welcomed their first child into the world. This life altering event was even more world shattering due to the fact that Katherine had been had been diagnosed with a condition that required one of her fallopian tubes to be removed in her early twenties, making conceiving a child extremely difficult. The couple had been near giving up on a child of their own when Katherine - she prefers Katie, it sounds younger - found out she was pregnant. They were ecstatic, and have always treated Chris and her equally unexpected little brother Jackson as the blessings that they are, and have always been more than willing to allow their children to live their own lives and make their own choices. Chris' childhood was spent loving how cool her parents were, even when she struggled to pay attention in some of her classes. Her dad spent lots of time with her, reteaching the things her teachers had talked about so that Chris would actually pay attention and get the hang of it. All in all, she had a pretty great life as a little kid.
This, of course, leads to things like Chris and her mom taking a road trip to Idaho for her fourteenth birthday and getting her first tattoo - the anchor on her wrist. Lucky for her, she was finished growing, and still loves her tattoo choice. She got two more by the time she was seventeen, first the steampunk clock and key, followed by the burning feather only a few months later. James wasn't exactly the most excited about his daughter's decision to "decorate the walls of the temple that is her body," but the poor man has a hard time saying no to both his beloved wife and his bright eyed daughter.
ADOLESCENCE:
It'd been just a regular day during the summer before her Freshman year. Chris was admittedly excited for High School and all the stereotypes that came with it. Usually, she wasn't one for such silly things.... But Homecoming and prom and the football games.... It all just sounded like a whole new world that Chris was itching to explore. She was full of pent up excitement and energy and wanted to go out, maybe hang with Lukas and Terry. That would be great, if she wasn't grounded. So instead, she'd have to find something else.
Sitting on her bed next to the open window, Chris picked up her violin case from where it had been sitting on the window ledge. Unlocking it, she pulled it out, took her bow in hand, and began to play. She fell in tune with one of her favorite songs quickly, her eyes fluttering closed as she imagined the rest of the orchestra playing with her. Her mouth opened slightly, a bad habit her private instructor was becoming very frustrated with. Suddenly, the sound of the orchestra was no longer playing just in her head. Confused, she stopped playing and closed her mouth.... and the music stops too.
When she told her parents of the phenomenon, her father had smiled sadly as her mother's eyes welled up with tears. She was told to go upstairs and pack everything she could fit into her suitcases. Confused, she had done as she was told. When she came back downstairs, her father was on the phone with her second cousin, talking about Bellefonte Academy, where said cousin had attended a couple years before. Why? Bellefonte was a place for mutants, people who were special, like her cousin. People who could do weird things that weren't nor-- Oh.
She was on the train with her recruiter just a few days later.
Now? Chris is doing the same things she did back home. Partying on the weekends, playing her violin and reading books. Her grades are a plain B average and Chris is totally okay with that.
SAMPLE:
As soon as she had gotten away from her brother, Adrianna crossed the room to one of the men in charge of making sure her whereabouts were known all night long. She held a hand against her stomach and contorted her face slightly to make it look like she was faint of breathe.
"Uh. Excuse m-me..." Adrianna spoke softly, practically a gasp.
The man turned to face her, raising a brow before his face grew concerned. "Princess! What is it?"
"I'm feeling a bit... Um. Well," Her voice grew into
a whisper, as if feeling scandalized. "Straightlaced."
At the look of confusion she received Adrianna sighed. "It's my... my c-corset, sir. I need to retire to my chamber where my ladies can take care of it. And I think I'll stay there, as I've had a bit too much wine and would prefer not to make a fool of m-myself."
He nodded quickly, obviously new to this job. Not a job he'd have much longer, of course, but that wasn't Adrian's problem.
Adrianna waited till she was out of the ballroom and beside the grand stairs that led to the more personal section of the palace before she kicked off her heels, holding them in one hand and gathering her skirts off the ground in an extremely unladylike fashion before running up the stairs barefoot.
Her chambermaid was unsurprised as Adrian dashed into the room, demanding to be freed of 'these ridiculous, pompous clothing!' immediately.
In a matter of minutes, Adrian was freed from her gown and corset and was stripping out of her fancy slips to throw on more comfortable clothing. As no one of importance would see her, she happily skipped the shirt and tie, opting only for the corset-like shirt, followed by her tailored pants and pinstriped jacket.
That would not suffice, however, and Adrian quickly through her hair up, removing all jewelry and other idiocies that she had been forced to wear.
Adrian threw a grateful smile at her chambermaid before tossing a bag of silver coins her way to ensure her silence on the matter. Donning her favored floor length trenchcoat, Adrian headed toward her window where she had a ladder already waiting.
Adrian had done this so many times, that she was quickly in the public streets and heading to the Research Sector with confidence. Arriving at the Red Rose Cafe, Adrian sweeped in, taking a casual glance at the room to see who she could meet and what new information could be learned today.
