Gravity Manipulation
Shep has the ability to mentally manipulate gravity by generating gravitons. Usually he does it by outstretching an arm and concentrating but the arm is more of a formality, it's all mental. He can increase and decrease it, and change the direction/force of gravity. Objects affected either appear to float (decreased effects of gravity) or become heavier (increased gravity). Since Shep is the one generating gravitons, the further objects are away from him, the harder they are to control and the closer, the easier. Also since Shep is the one generating gravitons, it is easiest to control gravity’s effect on himself making floating possible, almost like he's weightless in space. In future, Shep will eventually be able to manipulate the direction of fields making walking on ceilings possible.
Limitations
He cannot create black holes or white holes or any other gravity based construct.
Objects deeply rooted into the ground like trees and buildings cannot be lifted.
At this point in his training, Shep’s quite horrible at manipulating the direction/force of gravity for anything except himself. This isn't telekinesis. It requires a ton more energy to move objects sideways and diagonally than it does to move them up and down and he can't control how the object drifts anyway.
Although Shep can float, he can't really control where he goes. His direction is left up to the wind and if there is none he just kind of stays in place. At this stage he can maintain an altitude of 90m for a few seconds before becoming severely fatigued and passing out (which would be dangerous at this height). At 70 m he can stay up for about five minutes before passing out. At 50 m he can stay up comfortably for ten minutes before coming back down. At 25 m he can stay up for half an hour. At 10m he can stay up for three hours. At one meter and below he can stay up for about 12 hours.
Shep can only manipulate objects vertically within 10 ft and at a maximum of his body weight (roughly 160lbs).
Side-Effects
Shep feels as if he’s never touching the ground fully and is always nervous that he is hovering over it by a nanometer or something. Rarely but they do happen, Shep can get anxiety attacks out of nowhere because he doesn’t feel like he’s really touching the floor/his clothes/anything.
Overuse of gravity manipulation on himself/being up in the air too long can cause vertigo and nausea when he’s back on the ground. Throwing up is to be expected.
Whenever he uses his power he does get headaches and his muscles get stiff. The more he uses it, the worse it feels. Overuse of gravity manipulation on other objects (holding it up too long, manipulating something too massive) can cause severe headaches and migraines. The intensity and how quickly these come on depend on what he’s manipulating.
Heavier objects being lifted quickly to a high height make the symptoms appear quicker while lighter objects at a lower height being raised slowly cause symptoms to appear much more gradually.
His balance isn’t the best and about once or twice a month he is stuck in bed with dizzy spells.
APPEARANCE SECTION:
Standing at 6'3" and with the cockiest grin in the world (perfectly straightened thanks too invisalign), Shep is a bigger than the average guy: height-wise, muscle-wise, and ego-wise. The last of which cause him to flaunt the first two whenever he can. Shep has perfected his workout to make sure his muscles are just the right size, impressive but no too intimidating that girls think he's a beefcake. The same goes for his tan, he's always a little brown but never so dark he could be mistaken for tan mom (for reference ).
Enough with the brawn and on to the brain, or head at least, Shep styles his hair so that it appears to defy gravity, no powers required. His wavy, light-brown hair just sort of levitates (not literally) above his forehead and juts out kind of like this. They never get in the way of his light blue eyes, the empty hair gel bottles piling up his trashcan ensure that.
As for the rest of him there's nothing else to extraordinary unless you're interested in the fact that his ears don't stick out from his head like a monkey or the fact that his hands and feet are a little larger than than proportionally perfect than his body.
MUST HAVE APPAREL:
Shep wears clothes that was once described as “you can beat my ass but my dad will sue” in a tweet. Overall his style is a mixture of pompous rich and party frat boy. That being said, Shep- although he can rock formal wear, suit, tux, you name it- usually wears a long sleeve t-shirt sporting some preppy brand (Vineyard Vines, SoPro, etc,) or a long sleeve button down polo. No matter what shirt he wears, it is never tucked in. As for the lower half, casually he wears shorts with a washed out color. For dressier occasions he wears khaki pants with a belt. When it gets chilly he wears a vest. Finally for shoes he wears flip flops or boatshoes unless the situation requires more. Oh and the two thing he’s never seen without are a backwards ballcap and a tie or bowtie.
PERSONALITY SECTION:
Ever since he was little, Shep has been groomed for one thing: a political career. His family had been grooming for the presidency but all he’s wanted is a presidential suite that he could trash with a party. Thus his personality reflects both aspects of his pedigreed raising and his rebellious nature.
From first glance, Shep seems like a well-mannered New England guy. His rhetoric makes him as smooth as a playboy bunny’s ass, even after quite a few drinks, but this doesn’t change the fact that he’s usually an asshole. Women to him are a “piece of tail” that he can use for pleasure rather than treat like actual human beings. So expect a few condoms in this party boy’s wallet and some cheesy yet charming pick-up lines on his lips.
If Bellefonte had a fraternity, Shep would be the future presidential party boy. True most fraternities are about brotherhood rather than boozing and cruising but that wouldn’t stop him. Shep has the ability to inspire camaraderie and lead, though it’s usually not in the right direction. Shep is usually far away from the right direction. At a party he’s usually more than buzzed, handing out ecstasy and swapping spit with girls too drunk to consent. He knows he can get away with it too. Whether it’s his dashing good looks, his attention to detail, or his dad’s lawyers, Shep’s records are squeaky clean in preparation for law school and his future presidency.
Shep does have a caring side to him though. His adoptive sister Charlie means the world to him and he’d never let anyone mess with her. Whenever he volunteers (for college and law school transcripts padding) he does tend to take pride in it.
Also, just because Shep is a party boy, don’t fall for the stereotype and think he’s stupid. Shep is smart and does study a quite a bit. His ego doesn’t allow him to be anything other than the best. Although his GPA is on the lower side it’s because usually because he’s hungover the day of an important test or slept through it. Everytime he parties or goes out drinking he thinks he can handle it and has it under control but he has yet to learn that he just can’t control it.
EXTRA QUIRK:
Shep is an artist and his concentration is painting. He sees it as another middle finger to his parents but in truth he enjoys it.

CHILDHOOD: Lucas Whitelaw Shepard was born to Noah and Juliette Shepard July 3rd, 1997 in Hyannis, Massachusetts, the second of two children and the latest from a long line of mutants tracing back to his mother's ancestors. To say Shep lived a privileged life is an understatement. His paternal grandparents own a large transportation corporation (planes and ships mostly) and his father is a lawyer currently making connections with the community until he turn those connections into votes. They never wanted and had more money than they could ever spend but don't take this to mean the Shepard Family was opulent or extravagant. Sure they had a boat and a private plane but the Shepards are a grounded people. Juliette was the daughter of grandpappy Shepard's personal pilot and Noah had to pass the Shepard's rite of adulthood just to even be included in the family (at 18 every Shepard is disinherited until they can live on their own and make a name for themselves until they do something deemed worthy enough to live up to the name).
Shep lived with his older sister Alex the two were raised by their mom and nannies whenever she wasn't around which was pretty often. For school Shep attended the Dexter Academy and excelled in arts and English much to his parents annoyance.
ADOLESCENCE:
Shep's powers manifested right after his eleventh birthday. That day he woke up and he and his sheets were floating right up below the ceiling. When he realized he was floating, he dropped right back down. His parents, together for the Fourth, heard a loud noise in his room when he dropped down and came to investigate. Shep told them what happened and they couldn't have been prouder. They contacted Bellefonte, his mother being an alumnae herself, and he was recruited within two days.
Shep had an easy time adjusting to Bellefonte since he rarely saw his parents anyway. The only one he truly missed was his sister who hadn't manifested her powers yet. He took to Bellefonte quickly and being the socialite in training that he was made plenty of friends by joining many clubs (most notably swimming and lacrosse) and through his natural charm. He practiced his powers as often as he could and this prowess put him advancing at a pace a bit faster than other kids his age.
As Shep entered high school however things started taking a bit of a change. Grandpappy had taken a more active role in grooming him for his political career, firstly by forcing him into student government and into volunteer work, both to help prepare him for law school. Shep didn't want that though. He didn't know what he wanted but he knew that he didn't want to kiss up to big businesses and trade favors for votes for the rest of his life. However in the Shepard family, there is no diverging from Grandpappy's commands and a miserable political career was all that Shep saw in his future. So Shep began his teenage rebellion years because he figured that if he was indeed going to be miserable for the rest of his life, he might as well have as much fun as he could have for as long as he could get away with it. And if it made Grandpappy's life even the slightest more difficult, then the better. He rebelled slowly at first by stealing a few things and getting drunk but over time it escalated into partying and partying and more partying. Oh and some pranking. It is well known around campus that if Shep isn't throwing a party every weekend, then he must be dead, dying, or worse.
Despite all the clear misconduct though, Shep has never seen a day of detention. Instead his family trades sizeable donations for keeping his record under wraps. For the worst cases, he received volunteering hours in order to make him into a "better citizen" which he did already so he barely felt the effect. This has strained the relationship between him and his parents but his sister (who eventually manifested her powers and came to Bellefonte) hasn't given up on him.
At the grand ol age of 17, Shep became known as the party king of Bellefonte and doesn't show any signs of stopping. Besides, if he gets in trouble his parents will take care of it. What else is there checkbook and influence for?
