NAME: Charlotte Louise Logan
NICKNAME: Char, there is Lottie however that is exclusively reserved for very very close friends
AGE: 19
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: College Student
FACE CLAIM: Eliza Taylor
POWER:
Invisibility
Charlotte has the ability to turn invisible, meaning she can make her whole body become unseeable to the normal human/mutant eye. Staff at Bellefonte Academy believe that her power is much similar to that of animals in nature than can alter their appearance (e.g.- Chameleon) and tests have shown that she has a layer Chromatophore cells on her skin that began to develop when she hit puberty.
Mainly, her power is stimulated by the emotions of fear, the sense of danger and occasionally anger; which is why it became so prevalent during her teenage years. Despite being enrolled at the academy when she was 15, she still has not gained full control over her powers. When ever she feels threatened or even anxious, she will turn invisible against her will and often can't turn back; the Doctor's believe that it is down to the fact her hormones fluctuate- causing these unwanted change and so have put Charlotte on pills stop these incidents occurring. However, the incidents still occur of a bi-weekly basis.
Limitations
Though the school Doctor and other mutant experts predict Charlotte may one day be able to turn multiple beings invisible, at present she is unable to do so since she is not fully in control of her power; she can just about manage to willfully turn it on let alone hide an apple. Aside from this, the usage of her power in brightly lit rooms or outside on summer days is hindered by the fact when exposed to bright light her invisibilty gains a slight iridescent. Note it is only slight, but still enough to be noticed by others- the Doctor does not know why this happens but they believe it may be down to her ability to control her power. Furthermore, she can be seen by mutants who posses heat sensing abilities.
Side-Effects
Using her power for too long, can cause severe effects on Charlotte's health. Firstly, the power takes a lot of energy to work (at the moment, Doctor's are unsure if it will become easier later on) and so if invisible for too long, Charlotte become exhausted and faints as a consequence. Aside from this, Charlotte has suffered nose bleeds during and after using her power for a short period of time; the Doctor does not know what causes the nose bleeds but has as a caution, put Charlotte under regular observation by a medical personal.
The Doctor believes that Charlotte may have more blood vessels than a normal human/mutant, to supply her layer of Chromatophore cells and also the copious amounts of nerve ending that stimulate them, and that most of these vessels are under developed or thinner than normal and so burst when put under stress; as a result, the Doctor believes if Charlotte were to use her power on multiple people for a long amount of time or manifest it to hide an entire building say, that she would be killed. Due to Charlotte having more nerve endings close to the skins surface; she is sensitive to touch, pain, heat and cold.
APPEARANCE SECTION: Charlotte has, first and foremost, sandy blonde hair that falls just short of her shoulder blades; it forever has that beach wave effects because her hair tends to break easily when exposed to heat. Despite having blonde hair, Charlotte's eyebrows are several shades darker verging on a dark brown color. She keeps these trimmed, shaped and clean so that she does not look like she has two caterpillars living on her face due to their natural bushiness. Her skin color does not help the issue with her dark eyebrows, her skin is very a very fair almost white shade and is very prone to burning if exposed to the sun. Her eyes are the most striking feature about her. Thin and almond shaped, her pupils are the color of a stormy sea; blue-grey with a slight tint of green.
Charlotte's face is almost triangle shaped but it still has a soft feminine look about it. Her eyes are slightly wide set, in between them her small nose sits; her nose is short and slightly out of proportion. Her soft pink lips are plump but are small and seem to pout all the time; something she was ridiculed about in her early high school years. Aside from that, another target for ridicule is her height. She's quite short for a 19 year old, and won't grow much more, reach up to 5 feet in total and coming in at a total 114 pounds; making her seem skinny despite being a very healthy person.
MUST HAVE APPAREL: Charlotte loves to wear girly dresses- of all shapes and sizes- but will almost always pair them with a pair of black hush puppies, which are always polished and neat, and a cardigan so that she can keep modest. She also wears a small silver cross around her neck, at all times.
PERSONALITY SECTION: Though not a talkative person, Charlotte is an incredibly kind person to all; despite what she has been through. She is not one to hold grudges towards others, she forgives the sins of others and so has no enemies in her eyes; as she would quote to you personally, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself'. Charlotte is very much shy, almost reclusive in nature and barely utters a word to others unless instructed to do other wise. Charlotte is a Christian, which plays a big part in how she treats others around her.
Charlotte is prone to having anxiety and/or panic attacks at times where she becomes stressed; this is due to her final few days living at home with her father and step mother. This anxiety can cause her power to go on the spritz and unwillingly turn her invisible- which is a bit of an annoyance for Charlotte when she's trying to be normal as possible. Despite being a mutant, Charlotte wishes that she wasn't; she often says that it was the will of God that made her this way but she does not like his choice much. Having grown up in a somewhat normal environment as a child, Charlotte does no have very High self esteem now that she knows she is a mutant.
EXTRA QUIRK: Charlotte likes to binge eat chocolate sometimes cause its makes her feel better.

MOTHER: Michelle Logan (Biological, Deceased)
Ruth Logan (Step Mother)

CHILDHOOD: Charlotte childhood, is for the most part, uninteresting. She was born in a little town hospital, somewhere in Michigan, to Michelle and Sam Logan; a young couple who had recently moved to town. Unfortunately, Michelle suffered severe consequences during birth and died a few days after as a result which left Sam- a pastor- to raise his daughter on his own. He was a kind man, and he did not blame his darling Charlotte for her mothers death. He would always tell his daughter that it was Gods will.
Charlotte grew up a happy, bubbly child, who enjoyed going to Sunday school. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her father, helping him make dinner, going on outings to national parks and museums together was the highlight of Charlotte's young life. She was enthusiastic and talented at music, taking piano and singing lessons while at elementary and middle school; she took part in the towns talent show when she was 10 and came first place. She dreamed of studying music at Johns Hopkins University, but then one day everything changed.
ADOLESCENCE: She was 13 years of age when Ruth came into her fathers life. A beautiful woman, with red hair, Charlotte was excited of the prospect of having a new mum; however as her father began spending less time with Charlotte, and more time with Ruth, the young girls feelings changed. She became jealous of Ruth, she became jealous that time which was once spent with only her father- now had to be shared with Ruth as well. The feeling between the girls was actually mutual, Ruth was jealous whenever Charlotte spent time with Sam; making her react violently. It was more verbal, than physical, abuse which was aimed at Charlotte. Her father knew of it and tried his best to stop Ruth being so horrible but Ruth was manipulative and managed to win every single time.
Then Charlotte hit 15. She was at school when it happened, so news traveled quickly back to her father. Charlotte was in debate class, debating with someone over the topic of religion in schools, and was getting pretty worked up about it; she was angry at the person who was debating against the teaching of religion in schools. Everyone knew that around here it wasn't a very popular opinion, to not teach the word of God in schools, but there were a few who had adopted the opinion. Charlotte was getting angrier and angrier, the more the boy preached that religion was outdated and shouldn't be taught in schools, and that's when it happened.
There was an audible gasp from the class. Everyone was staring at Charlotte with disbelief, and the young girl was not sure why; she asked why everyone was staring at her? No one could reply, they were all to shocked and frightened to say anything. Charlotte couldn't see why they were so shocked, she also couldn't understand when people began to whisper witch or freak when they gained enough sense to talk again. The teenager looked round at her classmates, then down at herself but she wasn't there; she was invisible. Charlotte screamed and took off out the classroom before anyone could try to stop her.
What's happening to me?? she asked herself as she stared into the mirror of the girls toilets. She wasn't there, she wasn't there; she was crying but she couldn't see the tears running down her cheek only an empty mirror. Charlotte clung to the sink, trying to get a hold of herself when she returned to her normal state; much to her relief. She looked at herself in the mirror, happy to see her tear streamed face staring back at her; normal once again. She touched her face, ran her fingers through her hair, laughing slightly with happiness that she had returned to normal.
However, this elated feeling did not last long. When she had snuck out of the school gates without being seen by her debate class mates, she headed straight back home without a thought as to how her father would react. No doubt by now, text messages and phone calls had been made to parents and then to other parents and then probably to Ruth who would tell her father about how his lovely daughter had turned invisible in front of near 30 kids. As she opened the back door, she saw her father and Ruth sat at the kitchen table with solemn faces; her smile faded.
Her father turned and stood, his expression becoming angry- his face turning red, with veins popping from his forehead- Ruth had told him, but Charlotte had never expected him to react with such anger.
"Da-" Charlotte begun before she was cut off by her fathers booming shout
"Do not play a fool with me. Demon." he spat, grabbing his daughter by her shoulders
Demon? Charlotte thought quietly to herself. Suddenly she began to become afraid of what her father was going to do to her; causing her body to flicker invisible to visible again. Her father flinched away immediately, Ruth practically fell off her chair with fear. They both stared at her as if she was some sort of mythical beast that had come into their home- they stared at her as if she were a stranger. Suddenly, her father lunged at Charlotte. Quickly, Charlotte reacted by going fully invisible and running away as fast as she could.
"YOU MONSTER" her fathers voice echoed behind her as she ran down into the basement. Tears streamed down her face, her father following her into the darkness, as she hid in the hole in the wall where the old boiler had been. She listened to her father, rant and rave about God and how she must be the cause of her mothers death while he hunted for her in the dark.
He found her eventually and beat her til she was bloody.
Ruth, of all people, felt sorry for Charlotte and persuaded him to lay off the poor girl; that someone would come to take care of her soon. During that last week at home, Charlotte hid herself away from her father and Ruth. Afraid to speak to anyone other than god- despite what he had done to her, she knew it was best and that she could find solace in talking to him. At night, before going to sleep, she would always remind herself that she was the way she was because of God.
One Saturday, about a week or so after the incident, there was a knock at the front door. Charlotte watched from the top of the stairs as her father answered it; there were two men- one in a suit and one in a police uniform- stood on the porch. They smiled.
"Good afternoon Mr Logan"
"Good afternoon...." her father replied, a little confused
"We are here to collect your daughter sir"
Charlotte froze, fearful that the men were from the Government, here to take her away and do tests on her because of her power. She retreated backwards towards her room, closing the door behind her quietly before listening to the rest of the conversation from there. The one man explained to her father that he was from Belle Fonte Academy, which Charlotte recognized as the school a few miles outside of Kalispell, and that they were here to collect his daughter.
"What do you mean collect?"
"As we understand, your daughter has shown extraordinary gift in the past fe-"
"It is not a gift. It is the work of the devil!!" her father hissed
There was a moment of silence before the man spoke again "Regardless of whether you think it is the work of the devil or not, the point stands that your daughter has the ability to turn invisible and we are here to take her to a school which will give her the ability to control it."
The man sounded ruffled by her fathers comment.
"Very well.." her father mumbled before yelling "Charlotte!!"
The young teen hurried out onto the landing, whispering quietly "Yes Dad?"
"These two gentleman have come to take you away............go pack your things"
ADULTHOOD: 3 years on, Charlotte had comfortably settled into Belle Fonte as an almost permanent guest. Since the day she left the house, she had not had any contact with her father or Ruth; the last words her father had said to her had been pack your things. She was sad, that her family had shunned her like that but she was somewhat happy to be in a safe place where she was learning how to have more control over her powers. She hadn't made any friends though, she was finding it tough to talk to others without her power turning on. There were days where Charlotte wished she could just be normal and have friends and be at John Hopkins University, but then she always reminded herself that this was Gods will.
She still found time for her music, she actually took it for her major at College however she is never able to perform in front of others because the last time she stood up in front of such a large crowd, she'd discovered her power. Her Power was now a threat to her health too- there were days where she struggled to control her emotions enough to stop it and this would lead to nose bleeds and eventually fainting. It was stressful. Charlotte wishes she could have a friend to talk about these things with but her anxiety about being round others makes it impossible for her to even talk without feeling the invisibility trickle across her skin.
SAMPLE: Brienne woke to the soft soothing voice of her sister. She was a little confused at first, as to why Gabrielle was cradling her but soon she realized she must have had a night terror again; the sheets were damp with sweat. They were a reoccurring factor, the nightmares. It was something that Brienne could never control, nor eve get rid of, and it happened almost every night; she was haunted by the harsh memories her stepfather had created for her. Though sometimes, Brienne remembered the night where blood splattered up the walls and that bastard lay dead at her feet.
Brienne gently shrugged her sister away and sat up. She took shallow long breaths, calming herself down slowly as her little sister watched on. Brienne felt guilty for forcing her problems onto Gabrielle, who would always be the one to calm her down after a night terror- for the first few nights after being home from the Detention center, Gabrielle had slept with Brienne like they had done when they were small. That was comforting but it still did not stop the dreams.
“Are you okay??” Gabrielle asked quietly
“Yeah” the elder girl stammered, running a hand through her curly hair. She looked at her blonde, beautiful Gabrielle and smiled some “Thanks”
“It’s not a problem…” Gabrielle said “Did you want something to eat?? A slice of toast or two??”
“I think…” Brienne paused, weighing her options. She felt like being alone today “I’ll just go have a shower…”
They had never had a shower at home. It was always a bath tub with porcelain edges that were rough and scratchy, but this flat had both a bath and shower. After using the shower once, Brienne had decided she much preferred it to soaking in a tub of water; which was always filthy after you had finished. The shower was warm and soothing, as the droplets of water ran down her back like rivers, the heat soothed her aching bones. The water here never went cold.
Once she’d finished in the shower and tamed her mass of curls into a suitable hairstyle to go out in public with, Brienne decided that she was going to go to the library; the fresh air on the walk might clear her head a little and stop her feeling so anxious. The library was quiet, quieter than here where Gabrielle would often sing most of the day. Not that Gabrielle wasn’t good, she had the voice of an angel but Brienne just needed to be alone. Stuffing her rucksack with books that needed to be returned, the young woman made a beeline for the door.
As her sister poked her head round the corner, to question where she was off too, Brienne spoke “The Library, I’ll be back in a while”
***
Rain poured from the sky in cascades as thunder sounded distantly. Brienne hurried up the old stone steps to the library, pushing past others who were in a hurry to reach a dry place while the storm passed over. The rain had drenched through the fabric hood of her jacket, but not through the leather body which she was grateful for; though she knew he hair would be in a state when it dried. The Library was warm, inviting and best of all quiet. It was near enough empty- with only a few clerks and the librarian hovering about among the few shelves that were filled half filled with books.
The light flickered overhead and slowly the smell or old damp books came to Brienne and it made her smile. She loved this smell, and the way the lights flickered. Somehow it reminded her of the little flat she, Gabrielle and their late mother had lived in when they were both small- the library was somewhat the last connection she had with childhood since the old block of flats got knocked down not too long ago because of a TB outbreak.
After she dumped the library books into the return bin, emptying the contents of her rucksack while staring round at the cold dry walls around her, she headed straight for the fiction section. To be fair, she had read these books over and over again- there must’ve only been a handful still on the shelf- but not many more had come into production recently. It was hard, to publish books which fit the criteria of the Capitol; those books who were deemed unfit for the shelves were never published and their authors vanished.
As she browsed the shelves for something to (re) read, someone whispered from behind “Hello”
The voice made Brienne jump. She had not expected anyone to actually be here, because it was a work/school day and most people were at their jobs. Turning round, she saw a young girl who was probably around 17 years old; probably the same age as Gabi. She was brown haired, fresh faced and wore glasses- in her arms, she cradled a big heavy book. The girl smiled up at Brienne with an expecting face, hoping that Brienne would respond.
Brienne was not one for small talk, she wanted to tell her off for talking in the library or something like that but she doubted that would stop the girl talking to her anyway.
“Hey………….” Brienne said quietly, glancing from the girl to the bookshelf again. -from the HGRP
