[Devyn Solway]

Devyn attack had landed, she felt her jaws close around Beau's neck and felt him hitting the ground from underneath her paws. The shadows did moved and react as if Beau's form was about to break down. Devyn recognized and fully understood the feeling since that was how it happened to her when she would be forced out of this form because of Guy's power. She was very impressed that Beau however managed to hold his form and didn't go back to looking like a human. It impressed her, but at the same time her beastly side was telling her that it made him more of a threat. This whisper speaking up again, saying that she needed to get rid of the threat, that Beau could copy her power to well, and he could possibly end up beating her if she was not careful.

She didn't want to lose and she didn't want to no longer be alpha if Beau beat her and took that position as alpha when she would end up around him. She did bite down a little harder for a moment before she pulled herself back. Backing away from him and shaking her head, pushing out the whisper that said she had to make sure she fully made him submit. Beau didn't move when she held him down, that was good enough for her in terms of submitting. She didn't really want to hurt Beau, he was her friend and she did like him in a way. The shadow smoke started to move then, going to smell our a word, but it started with the letter 'K' and then another word tried to form that started with an 'W'. Devyn stopping the letters, keeping in control and forming the letters out at her own will.

The letter appeared for a moment before vanishing as the shadow smoked pulled in close to Devyn, concealing her. She remained out a view for a little while longer as her form broke down and the shadows turned back to being just shadows again. Devyn standing where her beast form had bed, breathing heavily. "Sorry about...that." Devyn then said between a breath, pulling at her hair for a second and closed her eyes to full push out the whispers that still lingered with the shadow smoke before it vanished.

The teeth worried at Beau's neck, and he could feel the shadows slipping. Just as he felt them peeling away from his body totally, Devyn stepped back. The shadows swirled about Beau for a bit, melting off him or spiraling off into the distance, leaving him panting and looking up at the ceiling. He thought he caught a few letters and shifted his head to get a better look. Sorry, or at least, four letters of it, enough that Beau caught the drift.

He chuckled at that, laying back. He felt incredibly drained, like he usually did after a hard workout. Drained and... hungry. Really, really hungry. He could actually hear his stomach growl. "Ain't no big deal," Beau replied, waving a hand airily. "Toldja I ain't much of a fighter, least, not when it comes to stuff like this."

No, Beau only really fought well when he was fighting to protect someone or something. Even worked that way in the football games: the only time Beau ever really showed his stuff was when he was working to help someone else. All that teamwork drilled into his head, he guessed. Except when it came to Liz and singing, then he allowed himself at least a little selfishness...

Beau's form quickly broke down and went away a little after Devyn had stepped back and worked on getting out of her transformed form. He was chuckling. Had he been hurt, lost it, or just found something really funny? Devyn went with the latter since she did not see any wound and didn't smell the scent of blood. Devyn didn't really feel drained, but she could certainly relate to being hungry. Her stomach did not yet let out a growl, but she could feel it gurgling. Requesting that she get to work on gathering up some grub to satisfy it before it really let her know just how hungry she was. She wondered for a moment if Beau would be up for going to get some grub with her. She had some jerky with her in her bag that she brought with water in it as well, so they could at least snack on that together. If Beau was up for it and didn't want to go off to get himself some food elsewhere or with his girl.

"You still did pretty well. I just had to stop before my beastly side got the better of me." Devyn confessed since that was the main reason she stopped the fight, feeling like if they kept at it then Beau could end up winning, even if he didn't think that he was a good fighter. She moved over to her bag then, opening it open and pulling out the jerky. After breaking open the bag she held it out to him so he could get some if he liked. "Figured you be pretty hungry by now, comes with using my power, but I don't know if you pick up my side effects or not." Devyn said with a small shrugs and reached in to grab herself some jerky. Going silent for a moment before taking a deep breath and looking away. "Thank by the way." Devyn said, sounding appreciative because she really was, for everything that had gone on between them.

Beau chuckled again as Devyn insisted that he did alright. Maybe he had: some powers were harder to control than others, and Beau certainly felt like Devyn's lay on the harder end of the spectrum. Didn't make Beau feel any more like he hadn't just been run over by a truck and then had the load dropped atop him. And hungry.

Devyn explained that latter soon enough, and Beau leaned, grabbing a handful of the jerky. He set most of it on his chest, moving to nibble it. "Don't think I'd pick jerky for somethin' after that. Can't exactly wolf it down like I'm wantin'," though Beau figured that might be part of the point. Get some protein without wolfing down so much food as to see it all come back up again a few moments later.

He waved off Devyn's thanks too, shrugging again. "No big deal. Should be doin' more trainin' anyway. Gotta get hold of a decent trainer, get my powers really under control. Otherwise I ain't ever gonna be able to leave, an' I'm itchin' to start tourin' again,' he took another bite, looking up at the ceiling. He hadn't even quite realized how much he had been till that moment. Now that he'd said it though, he felt almost desperate to get out, do a short tour or something. Wouldn't manage it for ages though, not with school and everything else coming up...

Yeah, hunger was a huge side effect that Devyn had to deal with when it came to her power, but it was by far one of the ones she would rather deal with compared to the ones that cause her physical pain. Beau took a handful of jerky, Devyn smirking at the fact that he was feeling the effects that she had to deal with at least on the hunger level. Devyn understood where he was coming from about wanting to just woof something down but there was a reason for that. Jerky was good protein, it gave you energy and also making you have to tear and chew it caused you to not inhale it and end up making yourself sick later. Plus Devyn just liked the feeling of shredding meat and tearing it apart with her teeth.

"Well I learned early on that if I eat stuff I can woof down I end up spewing my guts after words and that is no fun." Devyn said as she tore into a slice of jerky. Making through what she pulled out with ease and grabbed herself a water bottle, rolling another on to Beau so he could have something to drink. Jerky was not exactly the kind of food you just ate without getting something to drink with it. Beau waved off her thanks and said that he needed to do some more training anyways. So this sort of had been win-win for the both of them. He pointed out that he needed to get another trainer so that he would be able to go on tours again. Figuring he was talking about the musical kind of tours and understood his need for being able to have a good handle on his power. It would suck to be out on tour and then suddenly end up picking up on another mutant’s power and losing control while trying to give a show.

"Well, if you ever need a training partner, I'm game." Devyn said as she sat down and sipped at her water, eating some more jerky. She had a pretty good trainer and while she still had work to do, at least she still had another year before she would have to start making some decisions with her life.

"Makes sense," agreed Beau, nodding in agreement with Devyn's reasoning. "They sometimes hand out these little protein pack things for us to nibble on after games. Wouldn't hurt to have somethin' like that either."

Though Beau wasn't going to complain: getting anything in his stomach right now felt like a good idea. The water would be even better. He caught the bottle as it slid to him. Beau raised it in salute before cracking it open. Clearly Beau knew how to drink after a workout though: as he took a few swigs but took the time to work it around his mouth and swallow slowly, obviously relishing every bit of it. Felt good sliding down, good enough that Beau felt like he could lever himself up to an upright position.

"Ain't gonna promise I'll be too eager to take you up on that," he said, looking over at Devyn. "Your power's definitely one of the odder ones I've dealt with: left me feelin' all tuckered out," he shook his hands, demonstrating it, before chuckling and taking another pull of the water. "Reckon you don't use it too often?" he asked, looking over at Devyn and raising his brows. He also figured that the guy knew how to fight and had been willing to join one of the assault teams, so who knew?

Devyn gave a small nod, knowing what protein packs they gave those in sports, even if she personally never joined any sports. She was too much of a loner and desired to be in charge to much and understood that those were not really great characteristic to have on a team based sport. Plus it would be something that probably would end up stressing her out when they would possibly lose a game or well any kind of confutation out on the field. In general she just knew sports were not for her even if it would be a great place to put all of her pent up energy and aggression. "I never much liked the taste of those protein packs." Devyn admitted, finding that they just tasted off, compared to the goodness that was jerky and a nice bottle of water.

The jerky satisfied her need to tear something a part, it filled her up for the moment, and the water rehydrated her, all good things in her mind. Beau apparently was also enjoying the jerky and the water since he was plowing through it like it was candy. He seemed to be doing a lot better to as he sat up, Devyn reaming seated next to her bag, not feeling all that warn out since she could have done a lot more and been in her other form for a longer amount of time without feeling really tired. Devyn chuckled a little at Beau admitting that he was not all the eager to take her up on the whole training buddies’ idea. According to him her power was more of the odder ones he had dealt with. She could understand that since she didn't meet that many with the whole using shadow to change your form mutants. "Aww, already? At least I know your limit then." Devyn said with a smirk at the mentioning of Beau stating that he felt all tuckered out.

Then there was the question of sorts, one that was more of him not thinking that she used it that often. There he would be wrong. Devyn liked to show her power to others if they asked, she also had that whole problem of losing control when she would have some really bad dreams. She didn't like use it every second, but it for sure was odd for her to not use her power at least once in a day or two. "I actually enjoy using it. Minus a few parts to it." Devyn said as she finished up her jerky and scratched at her head. "My dad had a similar power to mine. He could cover him and others in shadows and they basically would be out of sight, could not even be picked up at all. It's kind of like my connection to him. If that makes sense." Devyn said as she gave a small shrug and a half chuckle at her words. That was not too heavy of a topic and he had asked. "What about you? Like using your power?" Devyn asked since being able to copy anyone’s power around you had to come in handy.

"Don't blame ya: stuff tastes like foot," agreed Beau. Though he couldn't help but wonder what would happen if you combined Devyn's power with something meant to give you protein and the like. Would it be like a workout? He shook his head. All too abstract for him, and he didn't want to get caught up in musings that didn't matter anyway. Best to focus on the power and how Devyn teased him about it.

"Ain't like you're gonna be attackin' me or anytin',' Beau pointed out. He figured he could rally like that if he really needed to. He just... didn't, and it seemed silly to just lash out at someone like this. He was effectively at the same level Devyn had been several years ago, and he didn't want to push it. No, instead he chose to sort of push it with the question, which apparently had Devyn thinking pretty hard.

Enjoyed it, probably because of that whole family connection thing. Beau supposed he could see the benefits of it too: the power, the connection to the animal side and all that. He just knew it wasn't for him. Though, as he started answering, he realized that: "I jus' ain't much for usin' my power period, to be honest," he said, shrugging. "That's part o why I ain't takin' off jus' yet. Don't wanna skedaddle before I get this whole power thing sorted an' all. I spent a lot of years avoidin' it. You know, pretendin' I weren't a mutant. easy enough without gettin' close. But the way things have been lately, what with SPECTRE an' all..." Beau trailed off, tapping the ground. Yeah, things had definitely changed. "Maybe I oughta push for more sparrin', eh?" he asked, turning and smiling wryly at Devyn as he finished.

Devyn chuckled a little at Beau saying the stuff tasted like foot and yes she could fully agree on it. It was just odd to hear someone outright say foot instead saying that it tasted like poop, but only a more colorful word. She did wonder for a moment if Beau was not the type who would swear and while Devyn herself tried to not curse all that much, she did slip here and again, especially when she was angry or really wanted something from someone. Devyn smirked when Beau said that it was not like she was going to be attacking him or anything. Devyn of course would not just because; she had to have a reason for it. At least if she did attack him it would be more so for fun in her other forms, unless she was not in control of herself. If she ever wanted to hurt someone but not kill them then she would so her best to not use her power and handle it with her own physical skill.

That was easier said than done, but at least she tried before she would normally end up shifting and scaring the sh-poop out of them. "Well, I do like to pounce on my friends from time to time so I might." Devyn said keeping her smirk but she really was just being friendly. She like Beau, a lot more after this whole chat and training with one another. You just seemed to bond better with someone after getting to see their mutation at work. At least Devyn did. Devyn looked at him as he started to talk about how he was not really one to use his power in general and why he was not just leaving the school after he was done with his high school time here. He wanted to fully get his power under control and had apparently spent years avoiding using and training with it. That part had Devyn raising her eyebrow a little confused as to why he would not have been working at it the years he had if he wanted to have a good amount of control over it.

He confusion was quickly solved when Beau revealed that he had basically been pretending to not be a mutant and with how things had been with SPECTRE. She looked down at the ground for a moment, understanding a little bit of what he was getting at but not fully. Being a mutant was what made her special, different than any other person out there and she loved it. She could care less if people liked her for what she was or not. Not everyone thought the same way she did however so she did sort of understand where Beau was coming from and it felt good that he sort of opened up to her on that. Unless that was something he just told anyone, but still. "I understand...sort of, but you kicked SPECTRE as-er butt when they showed up and while not everyone will like mutants not everyone will like uh...immigrants." Devyn said, not really thinking that was the best way to explain that but figure beau would understand what she would get at about not everyone was going to like you for what you are, but it didn't matter. She did smile a little bit at Beau's last words, moving over to give his shoulder a pat.

"I'm down for that. Just bring you’re a game or I'll wipe the floor with you." Devyn said with a confident smirk, but part of her felt like if Beau really gave it his all he could probably beat her after a few rounds or so.

"Ain't really used to havin' friends that pounce me,' drawled Beau, smiling. It wasn't entirely true, as a few of his female friends did that from time to time. Technically Liz had done that quite a lot before, well, things with her had passed the friendship point and entered somewhere new. Beau shifted, wincing a little more as he felt his tired limbs stretching. He finally pushed off the floor though, pulling himself to his feet.

When Devyn responded to his comments and admissions, Beau looked over at him. He raised a brow as it appeared that Devyn edited his language. Seriously? Had he never heard some country music? Or spent some time in a bar. Beau just let it go though, figuring that either Devyn was nervous, or it would be fun to listen to the guy continually self-edit for no good reason. Didn't change the reality of the situation: Beau really had kicked SPECTRE butt, though: "Got lucky a lot. Plus I was followin' the orders of someone who knew what the hell she was doin'," Beau nodded. moving to stretch a little more.

Naturally Devyn was down for more training whenever. Beau had a sneaking suspicion that he'd all but signed up for exactly that. He chuckled and moved to collect his guitar and stuff, adjusting. "Gonna go an' get some real food now, if ya don't mind," he said, turning to look back at Devyn. He nodded. "Not like I'm takin' off or nothin'. Stomach's jus' growlin' an' I do got other stuff to do."

"I'm sure you will adjust with ease." Devyn responded back right away to Beau's words about not being used to having friends pounce on him. Devyn didn't really by that, even less with knowing that Beau had a girl. She knew the cute type of girls had a habit of jumping and or pouncing on someone that they liked a lit. She had dealt with it before and she was pretty sure Beau had had to at least deal with it at least once or twice in his young life. Devyn's pounce would be a little more on the aggressive side then it would be on the playful flirting side. Her goal would be to get Beau to the ground or cause him to move significantly instead of just a little stumble. Even if the thought of jumping up on Beau's back did seem like it would be a little fun. Devyn was still a girl after all and she liked males as much as she liked females so sometimes she did like to be picked up and carried around.

Beau managed to get to his feet so Devyn did the same, stretching out and popping a few bones in the process. Ah, she loved the sound of air being released between her joints and the mix of pain and relief that followed the action. Beau was looking at her with a certain look that made her feel a little stupid that she had not just outright cursed. No, she was not really the type to listen to country music and thought all of it was that whole talking about trucks, the country, rattle snakes, and that woman that broke your heart. Oh beer, beer was a big thing she pictured country singer sang about, but again for most of her life it had been the song that you would associate with club music. "Still, you did a good job keeping the kids here safe even with that other students help. If you guys had not been here then..." Devyn stopped not wanting to think about if SPECTRE just rolled over everyone and possibly got to Zoe who would have been in the infirmary at the time.

Should have stayed by her side instead of going off. Devyn thought to herself, but at the time she knew she could not have outright stopped herself. The school would have had to done that and lock her up because she would have still lost control and not been at Zoe's side. She still felt bad about that, but knew she had to leave that in the past or it was going to eat away at her. "Alright cool by me. I'm probably going to go on a run and then get myself a bite to eat. I run faster when I'm hungry and have the end goal of food at the end of it all." Devyn admitted, wanting to go get a bite to eat with Beau, but had her workout to do after all and that was very important. "Let’s hang again sometime soon? Double date or some more training even." Devyn said with a small smirk as she put her things in her backpack so she could have everything together for her run.

Beau smiled at the thought of adjusting to getting pounced. somehow he doubted he'd ever really get adjusted to something like that. He didn't see any point in pointing that out to Devyn or arguing though. Wasn't as if this was going to be their last encounter. Something told Beau that they weren't going to part ways for a good while yet. Probably didn't help that Beau wasn't going to be going anywhere soon.

At least he'd manged to get on his feet. His body felt sore, run over and worn out and all those fun adjectives and whatnot. Just the thought of food made his stomach growl audibly, and he winced as he worked a few more muscles. Devyn spoke of SPECTRE, of what Beau did. Beau nodded, though he didn't say anything more. He'd been lucky, and he'd had a lot of good help. It didn't make sense to take credit for doing what any of them would've done. So he didn't.

Instead he moved and gathered up his stuff, making sure to get the guitar into a decent grip and adjust everything else he had on hand. Devyn seemed alright with the plans, talking about running. Beau let out a slight whistle at that. "Running? Now? damn, you've got some stamina. I'm about ready to roll over," he rolled an arm again and did one last adjustment on everything. "But I'm game for trainin' some more. Give me a bit to recover an' all. have to talk to Liz 'bout double-datin' an' all, but i reckon she'll be alright with it."

Probably downright thrilled, if it came to it. Beau nodded and raised his guitar case in a sort of salute/wave. "Well, I'm off then. Seeya around," and with that, he headed for the exit.
