NAME: April Quinn Bishop
NICKNAME: April Fools, or just Fools. Some people also call her Pril.
AGE: 22, November 22, 1991
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: Bellefonte Trainer and Side-Effects Specialist
FACE CLAIM: Hayden Panettiere
POWER:
WEATHER MANIPULATION:
April has the ability to sense, create, shape and manipulate the weather, which basically means that she's able to detect meteorological patterns, create rain, wind, hail, lightning, snow, fog and change the temperature in the air. She can also generate natural phenomenas and control the intensity of the weather. What does this mean that she can do exactly? Well, technically it means she can raise or lower the wind speed, make it colder or warmer, cause rain, snow or fog and cause thunderstorms. From a sunny day to rain and hail in the matter of moments, to strong winds and storms.
In April's case, her power is connected to her emotions (See limitations) rather than her controlling it by will. The stronger the emotions she is feeling, the stronger her power acts out it, but this also means it will drain her of energy quicker, and once drained of energy, the weather effects she has caused will vanish (Which happens most of the time) or make her lose control of it. She can keep smaller changes of weather (Light rain, clouds, sunny) up for several hours, as this will only slowly drain her energy. The more powerful weather changes, as listed above, will drain her of energy quicker, which also means the time span will be lower.
When controlling her ability by will (Though, this doesn't happen as often as one would imagine), it takes a great deal of focus from her. Once her concentration is broken, she will again, lose control of the weather she has manipulated, created or shaped. Her ability takes a lot more energy in order for her to keep total control of what she's doing, especially since her ability is mainly controlled by her emotions. In turn, it's harder for her to force anything to happen with her own free will (This mainly goes for heavier weather, as making it rain or make the sun appear is generally easier than creating strong winds or hail).
LIMITATIONS & SIDE-EFFECTS:
➽ Side-effects include, but is not limited to headaches that can develop into migraines, mood swings directly affected by the weather, physical and mental strain, emotionally and physical exhaustion, energy drainage, needs lots of sleep and rest.
➽ Her ability is often emotionally based, which means that April lacks a certain control over her ability, and whenever she gets emotional she affects the weather without meaning to. And once out of control, it's hard for her to regain it. (Basically that means that if she for example causes a tornado, she might not be able to make it go away)
➽ She cannot cause a weather that would be impossible for a certain area. For example; She cannot stand in a desert where there's no clouds and no water to drain from and make it rain. And she cannot control and maintain weather in a large area around herself, and when fully rested, she can control the weather maybe a few blocks, and as her energy is drained, the area will rapidly grow smaller until it only affects small sections around her body.
➽ However, even if April can control the weather, she cannot under any circumstances control the elements. She can't hold or manipulate fire, make lightning strike in a certain way, though with concentration she can better her aim, even if it will never be a hundred percent perfect. April can cause something to happen, but to use it as a direct fighting force is not one of the things she is able to do. Nor is she immune to said elements; If struck by lightning, she will feel it just the same as anyone else would have.
APPEARANCE SECTION: April has blonde hair that reaches to her mid-back. Her hair is completely straight, but she often curls it to give it a little more life. She loves styling her hair, but more often than not keeps it up, either in a ponytail or a stylish bun. She has green eyes, pale fair skin and very rarely wears any make up.
Standing 5'2 ft above ground, April is considered very short, but she has never minded. In fact, she only uses this as an excuse to wear higher heels to make herself appear taller. Despite her short height, April carries herself with pride. She believes she has nothing to be ashamed off, and this shows in her posture. She also weighs around 117 pounds, which is after working off the 'baby weight' after giving birth to her daughter, Emma.
April has a very clean cut face with clean features and full lips. She takes good care of her skin and body, which shows. Despite being busy with her job and her daughter, April makes sure she has the time to care care of her body and health. After Christopher died, she became sort of a health-freak; She wants to make sure she lives a long time, because she doesn't want her daughter to end up alone.
April has a tattoo in Italian saying 'live without regrets' which she got after the death of Christopher. She got it tattooed over her ribs in memory of her dead fiance as a way to honor all the years they shared together and the beautiful life they created, Emma.
When it comes to clothes, April adores dressing up. She loves wearing dresses, skinny jeans and fashionable clothes. She's rarely seen in sneakers and sweats, even while working out. She prefers tight clothing that shows her forms over loose clothes. She doesn't spend a lot of money renewing her wardrobe, but rather finds new, creative ways to reuse her clothes.
MUST HAVE APPAREL: April wears Christopher's dog tag around her neck wherever she goes. She often hides it to prevent people from asking about it, but she never leaves her apartment without it. If she cannot wear it around her neck, she always keeps it close by, either in her pocket, her purse or shoe. She believes it gives her strength to go on.
PERSONALITY SECTION: April is a very emotional human being. She is easy to read and wears her emotions on the outside rather than hiding them. She's very friendly and outspoken, and isn't afraid of telling you exactly what she means or how she feels. Life has shaped the young woman into being both independent and positive, despite certain misfortunes. She is very overprotective of the people she holds close, and is also very loyal. There is nothing April wouldn't do to help the people she cares about.
Being a very emotional person, April often lets her emotions get the best of her. She is easy to anger, just as she is easy to please. Her emotions is dependant on the weather; When it rains, she is often sad or depressed, or less than happy. The heavier weather, the more her emotions are affected by it. When sunny, April is usually energetic and positive, even to the point of being annoying and overwhelming. When there's a storm, April can be a little more aggressive and easy to anger, and when it snows, she often finds herself being a little lonely, but also romantic.
Despite being a people person, April isn't one to seek out attention. She enjoys her own company as much as she enjoys being around people. She isn't a party person and rather than spending every weekend getting drunk, she'd rather spend it watching a movie with her daughter or chatting with friends. She is also interested in sports and spends a lot of her time working out and hiking, which she often brings her daughter to.
Being considerate and caring about other people comes easy to April. She can be a little judgemental and reserved at times, but most of the time she is easy to talk to and approach. She loves meeting new people and learning new things. But even so, April isn't one to care much about what other people say or think about her, and she always strives to be and do the best she can.
Being a people pleaser, April tries her best to make everyone around her happy. She often pushes too far and asks too many questions, and can get a little sour and hostile when people tell her to butt out, but she isn't one to be angry for long. She is very forgiving and strongly believes in second chances. However, April doesn't like people who slack off or throw away good things when they appear; She respects people who has to work hard for what they got, and has been seen mouthing off to rich people more than once.
EXTRA QUIRK: April loves thunderstorms; She thinks there's nothing better than sitting huddled up under a blanket in front of a fire while drinking hot chocolate and reading stories to her daughter, Emma. There is absolutely nothing April wouldn't do for her daughter to make sure she has everything she needs.
FATHER: Daniel Bishop (64), alive
MOTHER: Victoria Bishop (58), alive
SIBLINGS: Jeanette (27) and Robert (25) Bishop.
PET: Her daughter's rat, Mr. Jones.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A
WORTHY MENTIONS: Her daughter, Emma Rose Bishop-Davis (5). Emma's father, Christopher Davis (24) died in Afghanistan at the age of 22.
CHILDHOOD: April's childhood was nothing really out of the ordinary. She grew up in Pennsylvania to Daniel and Victoria Bishop. Two very loving, but strict parents. She had two older siblings, Jeanette and Robert who both loved and adored their youngest sister to the point where April often felt they were being overprotective and possibly smothering her. Not that she really minded in the end, of course.
April's father worked as a stock booker and her mother as a party planner, but they always had the time for their children. Family was very important to the Bishop family, and family always came before anything else. The Bishop family had a very close and trusting relationship. April's father would often take his children hiking, camping and fishing. Every weekend was spent doing family activities and spending time together. And the weekdays were often spent focusing on school and being with friends. April was happy, and she had very little to complain over.
She had a lot of friends at school and she kept up her grades. She was a very well-liked and polite child. She was extremely adventurous and positive, always doing her best to please others and try her best at whatever she chose to do. She quickly grew interested in sports and grew fond of soccer.
This happiness wasn't long lasting though as April turned nine and her father got sick with cancer. This put an end to the family camping trips and the like, but luckily, the cancer wasn't aggressive and the doctors promised Daniel would have a long and fulfilling life despite the sickness. Even though April was terrified, she tried her best to keep up a tough front.
ADOLESCENCE: When April was eleven, her powers manifested. It was during a family barbeque. It was a sunny and warm day, and Robert wouldn't stop teasing his younger sibling. He would poke her, steal her toys and throw leaves and pebbles at her. Even though April kept telling him to stop, he didn't listen, and before she knew it, the sky clouded over and it started pouring. Unable to explain it, the family hurried inside, not really giving the incident much though. At least not until a recruiter from Bellefonte showed up at their door and told the Bishop family that April was a mutant, and that she had to come with them to a school that would help teach her how to control her abilities.
Being the first mutant in her family, neither April nor her family knew how to react to the news. After a long chat, her parents agreed to letting the recruiter take their daughter away. It wasn't like they had a choice after all, since the recruiter explained that they had the law on their side and would forcefully remove April from the household if it came down to it.
After April packed up her stuff, she left her childhood home and her family. She was scared, as she didn't know what to expect. Bellefonte Academy proved to be a nice place, and even though April missed her family, she soon came to agree that it had been the best option. She had difficulties controlling her ability and it would act up whenever she grew emotional. Her own ability scared her. She didn't want to hurt anyone, and even though she had yet to do exactly that, she was afraid that it would eventually end up happening.
As her stay at the school progressed, April eventually met Christopher Davis, a two year older student at the school. They met during a football game and April quickly fell for the jock's charm, as he did hers.
At the age of sixteen, Christopher graduated the school and joined the military. They kept in contact and kept their relationship going, despite the difficulties that followed. Whenever Christopher had the chance, he came to visit April at the school, and when she turned eighteen and was ready to graduate herself, she found out she was pregnant with Christopher's child.
ADULTHOOD: Deciding to keep the baby, April graduated from Bellefonte High School and took and decided that because of her ability, she would study meteorology. She arranged with the school's counselor that she continued school both after and before the pregnancy. April lived at the school's dorm until Emma Rose Bishop-Davis was born. When April and Emma left the hospital, April contacted her parents, and together they arranged for April to move into an apartment close to the academy so she could continue her studies. Her mother also moved in with her to help take care of the child until Emma was old enough to enroll into kindergarten.
Christopher continued to visit whenever he was off duty. He proposed to April when she was nineteen, and she said yes. They arranged the marriage to be upon Christopher's return from Afghanistan. At the age of 22, Christopher was shipped off, and two months into his service, April received a call, telling her that Christopher had been in accident and didn't survive (KIA). Devastated, April had to deal with the heartbreak while taking care of her three year old daughter all the while finishing up school.
It was tough to say the least, but April still found a reason to wake up in the morning. Her main goal was to make sure her daughter got the best life April could possibly offer for her (of course, being listed as Christopher's primary beneficiary, the money she got from the military did help a lot), and after graduating from college after a four year long schooling to get her degree, April started working at the academy as a trainer, while helping out as a side-effect specialist, which she has been doing for the past year now. She's very happy in her new position and watching Emma grow up has been a joy.
April has learned to adjust and has become a functional 'career woman' and has raised Emma into a happy and joyful child with great help from her family and her friends. She has learned to cope with the loss of her fiance, and is ready to move on in her life.
