Welcome to the Bellefonte Academy!
We've made this handy guide to make joining and the application process easier for you. We're an original mutant site with a great community of Staff and members. We're here to make the site a good home for you, so please, don't hesitate with asking the Staff if there's anything you need help with - that's why we're here, after all.
First things first, we'd like for you to check out the...
Plot
Rules
FAQ
Setting
Claims & Plotting
Information on Powers (you do not need to read the whole thing; it lists a lot of potential powers)
If you like what we have to offer and you're willing to comply to the rules, then register! You can register with whatever name you want, but after you do change your display name to your character's first and last name, properly capitalized. We're account per character here.
Application Process...
First, it's a very good idea to look over our application guide.
A few notes for you to keep in mind before you start on your application; We are not a combat orientated site. Unlike X-Men, and various other mutant based roleplays, we're mostly based on the 'slice-of-life' and 'high-school/small town' role play. We do offer an Arena for those who are interested in using their abilities for something more, and there might be a few events/plots where you get to use your abilities, but we're still not a combat or battle orientated site. Please keep that in mind while writing the power section of your application (and your character in general). Thank you.
We here at B.A offer you two sets of applications, the Application Template - Basic (IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR YOUR FIRST CHARACTER YOU MUST USE THE BASIC APPLICATION) and the Application Template - Freeform and once started on that, you can post it in our Pending Application folder. We accept WIP applications, so don't worry; you won't have to finish it right away. However, the application must be finished within two weeks or it will be moved to the declined applications folder. And just because an application is there doesn't mean you can't finish it: if you want it moved back, please PM one of the Staff-members.
The application will then be reviewed by a staff member (bumping when it's finished by posting or letting us know once is fine; please don't nag us, we get to these super quick, promise). Sometimes everything is right and the character jumps right to acceptance. Other times, you'll get a PM from a staff member pointing out some specific changes (these are usually about power or history). Remember: when a staffer asks for edits, do them. And make sure you read over the messages thoroughly. Don't just write an extra sentence when we ask for more (unless we say that's okay); we will often end up sending you a PM pretty much repeating what you've already been told.
Once the edit of your application is finished, BUMP it by commenting it. A Staff member will get to it as quickly as they can. The process repeats until the character is accepted (and it usually doesn't take that many edits).
If you'd like some examples of applications of each section, here are some that the staff have selected:
Bellefonte Student, Freeform
Bellefonte Student, Basic
College Student, Freeform
Bellefonte staff, Basic
If you need Face claim help, check here.
Acceptance...
Once you're accepted, please do your CLAIMS. And check out our Creative Space for graphics, forum games and such. Remember that if you need help designing graphics for your play-by, there are plenty of people who will help. Also take a look at the General Discussion section.
When you're done with that, hit up the character ads or take a look at the Open thread directory to get on with the threadage!
And remember to have fun!
