NAME:Katherine, Alexis, Schmidt (Smith on her papers)
NICKNAME: Kat or Lexi (prefers Lexi)
AGE: 20
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Pansexual
POSITION: Bellefonte College Student, studying Art and Media, specializing in photography
FACE CLAIM: Antje Traue
POWER:
Telepathy:
Ability to read the thoughts of, or to mentally communicate with others. Another of those abilities that varies wildly from person to person.
In Lexi’s case her talent is a little different, like the telepath community in general she constantly reads and sometimes communicate with various minds with little control, but she has recently begun learning how to essentially shield herself from the torrent of other voices, by maintaining focus on these "barriers" she can quieten the various voices, almost making them non-existant.
But what’s more is that she can project her thoughts onto another target (although a target may accept Lexi’s thoughts as their own it doesn’t always work and sometimes leaves an imprint of sorts, usually a feeling of familiarity of Lexi’s face), and she can also use her telepathy to essentially "ping" someone in a small area, all though this talent is nowhere near mastered and requires Lexi to let all the voices in.
Side-effects and limitations
Along-side the more common side-effects telepaths exhibit, Lexi is prone to carrying something back from various minds she enters through lacking control and discipline of reading minds (be is a memory or an emotion), because of this she is prone to mood swings that vary in duration and often feelings of confusion, specifically around others.
Psychologically Lexi sometimes forgets her own thoughts after using her ability, this often causes her to think other’s thoughts are her own.
More physical problems include headaches, nosebleeds from excessive use, dizziness, fatigue and in extreme cases a need to be sick (similar to sea/travel sickness).
The side effects that effect Lexi most predominately are:
- Hearing/Reading minds involuntarily
- Finds it difficult sleeping from exposure to said voices
- Easily gets lost in her own or other's thoughts, often forgets things
- Tiredness and fatigue from using abilities more so without preparation
- If someone blocks her out she will hear and in extreme cases distribute a high pitched ringing noise.
- Major mood swings and confusion
- Generally isn't in control of her talents, only way she has learnt to shut the voices out is to try focusing on something or by trying to shield herself
- Talks to herself a lot, has a hard time distinguishing thoughts and voices
- Finds it difficult interacting with people
- Has a form of schizophrenia
The main limitations to Lexi's powers are the range of which she can communicate the closer people are to her the more louder and often clearer she can hear. However other telepaths for example can effectively shut her out, cause Lexi to lose them. However pushing this talent takes more effort, much energy and usually leave her exhausted to the point of almost passing out.
APPEARANCE SECTION:
Natural brown hair, but often dyes and cuts her hair when she has goes through extreme mood swings. Lexi has beautiful bright blue eyes and often wears make up to make her eyes stand out that little bit more. The way she walks often conveys the idea that she is confident and carries a little bit of attitude, but that couldn’t be further from the truth, in reality Lexi is pretty shy and often distant not because she dislikes people but because she hears too much, has been taken advantage of and that has lead her to have trust issues.
She has a tattoo of a star just above her thigh/inside of her leg, if she lets anyone close enough to see. She has no visible piercings, although she sometimes wears “clip-on” or “fake” variations to fit in. She is pretty attractive overall but spends time in the gym, working on her body and mind.
MUST HAVE APPAREL:
She wears a series of bracelets to hide her scars on her wrist, even though they are very difficult to see.
Lexi tends to wear a mixture of clothing but most of the time what she wears reflects her mood to some extent, she is most notable known for wearing shirts, jackets/hoodies and jeans... Dresses are only for special events and at a push or special event.
PERSONALITY SECTION:
Lexi is pretty quiet, shy but friendly if people are friendly to her too, she doesn’t do so well under stress and doesn’t understand people (such as their body language or the way they speak) all that well. She tries to stay out of everyone’s way mainly because she can’t control the volume of voices she picks up from the people that surround her.
She is scared of being alone, although she chooses to be alone a lot of the time she doesn’t like it much. She tries to be distant because she is scared of people being mean to her and having chance to hurt her. But most of all she is scared of being rejected by everyone, almost everyone she had been close to had rejected her when they found out that she was a mutant.
Lexi is very cautious around people, in general she is quiet and tries to keep herself from being the center or attention. But she will always try to be a kind even if someone is really mean to her, but push her enough and she’ll bite. Unfortunately Lexi tries to keep people away mostly because of her varying control with her telepathy but mostly because of how she was bullied during school and rejected as a child.
She loves art, music and photography. The passion for art came from just passing time to begin with, but later turned into something that she routinely did to keep calm, eventually this got her a few friends. Her love for music came from finding a way to block out the voices although it didn’t always work there was something she enjoyed about most of the tracks she listened to and often sings along given the chance.
EXTRA QUIRK:
Lexi enjoys reading and art, in fact she likes art so much that there is rarely a time when she isn’t hidden away drawing somewhere. Her favourite fruits are strawberries and pineapple. She often feels the need to bend the truth about herself or often downplays how good she is in various areas.
FATHER: Erik Schmidt
MOTHER: Katherine Fernandez
SIBLINGS: Marcus Fernandez (Jealous and very prejudice, younger brother)
PET: Family has a cat
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: N/A (Currently)
WORTHY MENTIONS: Ex-boyfriend Richard “Rick” o’Connor
CHILDHOOD:
Lexi was born on May 29th 1994, to an American mother and a German father. Her mother and father hadn’t been prepared for the arrival of Lexi, much more be ready to bring another mutant into the world. Not too long after her parents separated but this was mainly because of the fact that Lexi’s father was a mutant himself, he’d kept it secret since it wasn’t something he could show off as such, but being able to manipulate probability often helped when it came to his gambling pastime.
The two sides of Lexi’s family are quite different, her father’s side is very open minded about pretty much anything and are quick to embrace change. They also have a long history of mutants throughout the family history the most recent of them making the family quite rich. Her mother’s side is quite the opposite, they are slow in accepting change, but also have a bit of a resentment towards mutants to put it simply you are either a human or an abomination/sickness.
Lexi has grown up believing that her step father whom her mother married when she was barely able to talk was in fact her real father, he treated Lexi as his own, but only infront of Katherine. He knew that Lexi was Erik's child and therefor had a chance of being a mutant. This was one thing that he was most displeased of, especially since he was very pro-human and married Katherine for her family's views and wealth. However there was always something that kept them a little distant. The family moved to America just before Lexi was supposed to start high school.
ADOLESCENCE:
Lexi is a bit of a late bloomer when it came to her development, she was often teased for her curiosity when it came to what she liked. She got close to a guy called Rick who also recently moved to America and would later become her high school boyfriend, however this was when her telepathy began to awaken. Unable to control her ability she’d hear almost everything whether she wanted to or not, Lexi would often keep a straight face and lie about what she was going through.
As Lexi continued to hear voices her parents tried to get her “help” and for a while she was taking medication to calm her migraines and also seemed to make the voices go away, for a while at least. At the age of 17 when Lexi's talent began to blossom her mother and step father became eager for the academy to take her away for “her own good” but not without having Lexi's bags packed a few weeks before the recruiter arrived, the truth of course was that they didn’t like the idea of living with someone that could be easily and falsely defined as “sick” but also feared that she carried her mutation from her father.
During the weeks before the recruiter got around to meeting Lexi she snapped, with everyone literally abandoning and bullying her including Rick. She began to believe she was crazy and a freak, this drove her so far that she tried to shut the voices up by using a mixture of left over medication, alcohol and a blade usually to her wrist. Her attempts stopping the voices didn’t do much other than land her in hospital for a while, but on the day alter she was discharged from hospital she was successfully recruited into the academy where she slowly discovered she wasn’t alone.
ADULTHOOD:
Over her time in education and her school-life Lexi has been mostly quiet and isolated. She got bullied a lot for not been one of the “cool kids”, most of the bullying came when she was caught kissing another girl. The bullying only really got worse until she got really distant, eventually she couldn’t deal with getting picked on and snapped. Dispite getting a good beating herself, the bullying stopped for a while.
She has tried to move on since then but still has pretty low self esteem and low confidence, dispite being almost at the top of her class in most subjects. Lexi never tried getting close to anyone because of her trust issues with people that had been re-enforced time and time again.

From TiW, another RP site I'm on...
Floating that's all Hadyn felt like she was doing, just floating around in a pretty empty space. She didn't know what had happened, let alone why she could fly but that wasn't all that was weird about where she was, nothing made any real sense everything just seemed broken. The witch examined her surroundings, white here, white there and then a shock powerful enough to knock her down. She wanted to shout but her voice seemed to of abandoned her, before she could question where she was everything became blurred as if she was a little dizzy, she continued to try floating around hoping that somewhere there would be a way out. She'd had weird dreams before hell she'd even had her heart torn out but this seemed worse, not because it was a horrid dream but she couldn't remember how she got here.
Out of nowhere a little black kitten mewed, this had happened before. Hecate had used that trick but she felt alone and confused, eventually the kitten sat back and looked at Hadyn "Well come one then. You can't stay there. We need to hurry up." Hady looked around for the source of the voice, she looked left, she looked right, no one but this kitten. "Hey. Down here." The witch tilted her head and examined that kitten, sure felt real. "Uhm, hello Kitty?" The witch said being totally unsure what to expect. "Ohhh Kitty how original." Out of nowhere the Kitty put on a pair of glasses and read from a clipboard. "What the hell is going on?" The witch knew for certain that she wasn't high, although she was hoping she was because this was just too much weird.
Kitty stayed silent and lead her to someone laying on the ground, totally still. "I don't want to see. I had a dream like this once." She couldn't stop moving though, the lifeless figure moved closer and closer. Hadyn suddenly found it hard to breathe and fell to her knees. "Kitty, what's going on? I don't want any of this to happen. I don't want to see Robyn dead again." The kitten looked and almost sounded like she was laughing. "Robyn? No no Hady... It's uhm it's you. Oh and zap."
Zap? "Wha--?!" Before she could finish her word another shock hit her, completely knocking her down. Hadyn felt like she was going to be sick, nothing happened that could have killed her but just as she climbed back to her feet and stepped forward she began coughing up blood. The witch fell to her knees and began sobbing. "I'm not dead, I can't be." The kitten pawed at her lifeless body. Hadyn looked over at herself and wiped the blood from her mouth, but the closer she got the more voices she could hear. It was just echoes at first but then. "Charging. Stand back." Talking about what she saw would make her sound crazy. "Have I been here before?" Kitty nodded. "You've been here a number of times now. You forget what happens each time too. Okay Hady listen. You have to get ready because this one is really gonna hurt. I hope we don't have to go through this again."
"Clear!" Another shock soon followed this time everything went black, silent and peaceful.
