Nice to know that nothing had changed in the last few minutes, at least, nothing that mattered, given that Liz was already punching him. They were out on the dance floor anyway, smiling at each other bigger than the smiles they gave all the happy well-wishers. Beau waved at a few and had to endure at least a few slaps on the back.
Eye rolls, and smiles, then her face buried into his neck, and it felt, well, good again. He moved to circle his arms about her, feeling like, well, like he'd managed to get her affections for real this time. He breathed deep, taking in her scent, feeling it spread throughout his body for a few moments. Light bulbs? He had a feeling he was missing something there and raised his brows, wondering if he should ask.
"I'd be more worried 'bout lightin' some of these decorations on fire," he drawled, turning an eye upward for only a moment before looking at what he'd been staring at all night. "Seein' as you've always been hot, an' you're jus' gettin' hotter as the night goes on," and of course he meant that in about every way he possibly could.

"That too." Elizabeth pointed out with a nod. In response to Beau's ensuing sentence, the pyrokinetic bit her lower lip to stop herself from making any embarrassing noises.
It was weird now, the flirting. Because she knew now that they were actually for her and not that Beau was just flirtatious, it felt insane.
"I just hope I'm not sweating all over the place." She pushed her fringe back a little before smiling at Beau. She wanted to kiss him but it felt weird with everyone looking.
"I wonder if the other queen nominations had campaigned." She asked, looking around, still trying to find Erika.

"you might be a bit," offered Beau, looking into Liz's eyes. That smile, she often had it, but now, now he felt like it had been directed at him, was for him on some level or something. Made his heart feel lighter, and it also made him want to lean in and give her another kiss. He held that back for now though; they didn't need to be kissing in public or anything.
Leave it to Liz to still be thinking of other people though. Beau nearly sighed as he caught her looking around, though he found himself looking. He knew that the Elsa, ironically, had been one of the ones up for the vote, as had Erika, of course, and a couple of others. "I think Ellen Banks sent out some kinda letter or somethin', didn't she?" he asked, looking over at Liz. "But I'm thinkin' people went for you less 'cuz of any campaignin' an' more 'cuz they like you, Liz. Yer sweet as honey an' don't take crap: people like girls like that," he added a jaunty wink before giving her a little more twirl than was strictly necessary for the song. Couldn't help it, considering that his feet still felt like they had wings attached.

"Oh God no, that is so gross!" She squeaked, patting her face and neck with the back of her hand. Eventually she didn't even really care as she concentrated on dancing. With her Beau.
Elizabeth's eyebrows furrowed down in the middle when Beau reminded her of the letter that was sent out. "Oh wait that was her? Oh my gosh. How didn't she win? That was so damn heartfelt!" She said, squeezing Beau's hand a little too tightly by accident.
Pursing her lips and looking up at Beau with a somewhat incredulous look on her face, she scoffed and rolled her eyes before a hint of a smile appeared on her face. Before she could say anything in response, Beau twirled her around and she laughed at how giddy it made her feel.

"Ain't gross; it's natural," argued Beau, nodding and looking Liz over again. She didn't look to be sweating too much, which, given how long they'd been there and the dancing and everything, was actually moderately impressive. Beau didn't think he needed or wanted to point that out to her though.
The letter thing had Beau chuckling, wondering if Liz had ever actually met Ellen Banks. Probably, seeing as even Beau had encountered her before. They were in the same grade and had some of the same people in their social circles, after all, so it only made sense. Strange that Beau couldn't pick up whether Liz was being sarcastic or not.
Not that he cared, given the twirling and the giggling that followed. "Always wanted to do that," said Beau, chuckling a little, leaning his head in to nearly press forehead to forehead. "Need me to give you a warnin' next time?" Since he was obviously not figuring that their dancing together was going to be ending any time soon, at least, not in the grand scheme of things.

"Not in this dress it's not." She chuckled. She knew it ultimately amounted to little but she still felt like she should keep up appearances at least in public. Well, right then. When everyone was looking at her and had all the right to. It quickly slipped away though.
Always following the argument of 'knowing of' instead of knowing someone, she figured it wasn't that big of a deal that she didn't know Ellen. She knew the girl was a cheerleader, probably one of the reasons why they never spoke. And then rumours were obviously thick around the girl. This was exactly why she tried her best not to get sucked into gossip.
Which was really barely a blip on her radar now as she danced with Beau. Shaking her head, she turned herself around, pulling his arms around her and sighed. "Pull the rug from under me any time."

"Is that some kinda hint to get you outta that dress?" asked Beau cheekily, raising up one brow as he said it. He'd let it slide though, knowing that he should at least keep up appearances while they were in public and all. Still, nice to know that they were still going to be teasing and taunting each other for a while longer. Always a worry that things were going to change too much.
Things had shifted, changed. The dancing they did now felt decidedly different then the dancing they'd done only a few hours ago. They moved better, felt better around each other. Beau almost felt like those thoughts were going in circles, and he decided to stop chasing them down like a dog and just let himself get into the moment. Despite Liz's suggestion, he wasn't going to pull the rug out from under her just yet, at least not for that dance, nor for the more general one that followed. Soon after that though, he was leading a flushed Liz off the dance floor, loosening his own tie as he looked back across the crowd. Things were starting to wind down now, and he, well, he couldn't help but wonder where they should end up.
"So," he said, looking over at Liz and grinning, "Looks like prom's wrappin' up. I know there's another shindig at the Bellefonte place, but I'd be jus' as fine takin' you to Wendy's or somethin' if you'd rather. Reckon you've probably worked up a bit more of an appetite by now," he finished with a wink and another one of his jaunty, semi-charming grins.

"You cheeky bastard." She hissed with an embarrassed giggle. It wasn't like she hadn't thought of it, though. She was pretty sure with her vivid imagination, her imagining them in less clothes was an inevitability.
She couldn't have imagined a better prom. Well, if it had some rocket launchers and fireworks it would have been perfect but this one was not bad at all. She was certain now that her feelings had always been reciprocated and that it was her own fault for not saying something earlier.
And as they were leaving, the thought of going to a party did not appeal to her. She had kicked off her shoes earlier on and they were dangling from her fingers as they walked out of the gym.
"Wendy's please." She grinned widely, leaning against Beau as they walked. "Hey, remind me of that first kiss would ya?" She paused in her walking and looked up at Beau with a soft smile.
