Prom: it felt nice to dress up

Devyn still kept her eyes on Zoe, watching to make sure that Zoe was not planning on keeping contact for too long and didn't like fall over. She was also concerned with that the person might try and hit Zoe for well making their face go numb. Devyn didn't know how everyone would react to suddenly not being able to feel part of their body. Devyn was only a little used to it but that didn't mean she didn't notice it or long to actually be able to still feel things when Zoe touched her. Devyn really didn't mind Zoe having her fun with her hands feeling all over their face, it was just a face and Devyn didn't know the person. There was some low growling just because she was possessive of Zoe and it didn't fully sit well with her that Zoe was having wondering hands all over someone else. What stopped the growling however was the fact that Zoe leaned up to kiss the person.

"..." Devyn’s mouth opened to say something, not even sure if she saw Zoe’s lips make contact with anything but there was still the fact that Zoe had clearly leaned up for a kiss. Right, Devyn flirted with people, once when Zoe was around. Zoe had a right to flirt with someone in front of Devyn; she did not however have a right to just kiss someone in front of Devyn. Well she did because it was an open relationship, but it didn’t sit well at all with Devyn. Zoe was just smiling and looked like everything was just happy and go lucky. Saying that they were supposed to be resting when Devyn had said that and was trying to get Zoe to do that. She is just drunk. She had too much to drink. Calm down. It's not a big deal. It's an open relationship. Devyn was actually trying to talk herself down out of the growing bit of jealousy and anger she felt inside her.

She didn't say anything and let herself be pulled off the dance floor, pulling her hand back, intent to get out of Zoe's hold when they were off the dance floor. "Right...sit down and I'll get you some water." Devyn said in a simple tone, not yet without feeling or anything but she could not hide the fact that her eyes gave away that she was not currently happy. She was still talking herself down out of it, moving off to get Zoe a water bottle instead of punch since that would not help.

Zoe, being giggly and touchy and all around out of it, didn't notice Devyn's jealousy. Normally she would have noticed and gotten all abashed at what she'd done. That was if she actually did something like this normally, which was just incredibly unlikely, bordering on outright impossible. For now, she just helped lead her girlfriend off the dance floor, only stumbling a time or two. Zoe did eye the punch, especially a glass setting near the bowl that she really thought was the one she'd set down before they'd headed out to the dance floor the first time.

But they were too far for punch, and Devyn was telling her to sit down and Zoe thought she looked unhappy for some reason. "Aww, Devyn, don't be upset," she said, reaching for her, wanting to grab her hand and give it a kiss or something. "It's prom, you should be happy! All the dancing and pretty dresses and everyone looking so pretty. If my camera weren't broken, I could just take a picture of it all," she sighed, looking around dreamily, a goofy smile on her face. She then seemed to realize something and looked at Devyn.

"Though water would be nice! Cool water, and you should get some too," she grinned up at her girlfriend, beaming with that same goofy, sloppy smile, leaning forward on her chair a little. "I feel dizzy," she mumbled, leaning over for a bit, giggling yet again.

Zoe said not to be upset, and Devyn was trying to be because this was prom night, it was supposed to be a good time for the both of them. A night to remember. Then again Devyn still had a prom after this so it was not the end of the world if this one did not go as planned. It was not going to end as planned, that was for sure but if they could just get thought this without any more small problems it would have been fine. Heh, who am I kidding? Devyn asked herself because really when did they just have one smooth moment together. It seemed improbable but that was kind of how things were with Devyn. You could only spend so much time around her in a relationship before something would happen that would upset her. Her mood could turn dark so fast and she blamed it a bit on her power but also the fact that she just felt like she was better when she was just having fun and the only relationships that were good relationships were those with the word friends, benefits, or both in it.

"I'm not upset." Devyn responded simply, stepping back to prevent Zoe from taking her hand or touching her at all. She didn't want to be touched at the moment, just no more touching for at least a few minutes so she could calm down her anger and still desire towards Zoe. "You didn't tell me your camera was broken..." Devyn said after a moment but figured she should have known by the lack of seeing Zoe around with it. She just figured Zoe was taking a break from it with what all had happened weeks again. AT least now Devyn had an idea of a really good gift to get Zoe. It would be expensive and she be broke for a bit, but it pay off in the long run. Even more so if it would turn out to be the perfect breakup gift. Devyn had a thing for always giving one 'big deal' gift when she would split up with someone, figuring it ease the whole anger towards her or whatever emotions that came up during breakups.

"I will. Stay right here, don't move. If you do we are going back to your room." Devyn said sternly as she pointed at Zoe as if saying ‘stay’ like you would to a dog. She didn't mean for it to be degrading or anything like that, she just didn't want Zoe to move. She walked off then, finding two nice cold water bottles for them, and grabbing them. There were other drinks and snacks laid out and Devyn was tempted to get something but unsure how Zoe's stomach would handle it just walked back over to where she hoped still was with the water bottles.

Zoe winced as Devyn pointed out that she hadn't mentioned the camera thing. "Oops, sorry," she said, sounding shyer than ever, looking down for a bit. "I guess I didn't want you to worry or something. It happened when I got shot, you know," she grabbed Devyn's arm, obviously still not thinking too clearly, and brought the hand up to touch her side. That was where the bullet had cut a groove into Zoe, leaving a puckered scar for now. Dr. Campbell had patched her up, but the scar remained, at least for now.

Devyn moved though, pointing to stay. Zoe nodded, giggling at the gesture. "I thought you were the wolf," she said teasingly. She giggled again while Devyn walked away, tilting her head to stare at her girlfriend's butt for a little while.

"It's so not fair," she said to the person closest to her, which appeared to be a guy that Zoe hadn't seen before, "my girlfriend's totally hot, but I can't, like, do anything but over the clothes stuff because of my power. It's just awful."

The guy's eyes lit up like he'd just heard that, well, a hot girl was bitching about her hot girlfriend and how they couldn't do anything but over the clothes stuff. He grabbed one of his friends, pulling him in, saying he wouldn't believe this. Then they asked Zoe if she'd go into some details.

Zoe thought that was a little weird, and she wasn't sure what to make of the attention. But they did seem nice, so Zoe began explaining to a steadily increasing crowd of boys (and at least one girl who seemed to realize that the Lesbian Pikachu just might be as adorable as that label would suggest). She was just beginning to start gesturing when Devyn would return with the water bottles.

Well, at least Zoe was still where Devyn had left her. That had to count for something, right?

Devyn wanted to say something to Zoe saying sorry and pointing out that her camera had broken back when she got shot. It happened a little while ago but everything was still fresh in Devyn's mind in a way. She had a few nightmares about things, but nightmares were never knew for her and other then for her scar on her side, she was fine with everything. On the outside anyways. On the inside she still felt that she was the blame for everything that happened to Zoe. Zoe could just have a normal mutant life if she had not gotten herself involved with Devyn. Devyn ending up in the infirmary, Lesbian Pikachu, SPECTRE attack, and just the crying. Devyn was sick of being at fault, or more so sick with herself for it all. Feeling the scar just made things worse but she remained silent and just went to get the water.

Devyn just gave a small smile at the whole wolf commit, but it didn't linger as her mind went into deep though. Maybe she should have some more punch to distract her from the darker thoughts. Pushing them away was only working so much and she was finding that she was not really having fun anymore. That she just wanted to leave and let Zoe remain back to have her fun. After all Zoe looked like she was having a blast and Devyn didn't want to ruin that for her. I really do need to break up with her. Taking a break is probably just going to make me come up with the same desire. I really do care about her...a lot. It just might be better if we are friends. I can't tell her that tonight however, not on prom. That would be a pretty low move. Devyn thought to herself as she looked around for the water bottles and lingered around the table a little bit before she went back towards Zoe.

Zoe who was now surrounded by people and telling them things, things that Devyn didn't care if people heard but at the same time it was embarrassing. It was one thing to be embarrassed if someone was saying how she might be bad or something. It was another thing when they were just telling people of things period. Sure Devyn was used to hearing people talk about her that way or saying things in their little groups, but she could not recall a time when someone she was going out with was informing people about such things. Mixed emotions were there now, as if she was already not having a hard time with dealing with Zoe kissing another person. The low growl slipping out as her green eyes went darker. "I suggest everyone that is not Zoe Wallerstein-Smythe, goes back to doing their own thing, before I make them." The tone was clearly a threat and she was not even trying to hide it. They could either leave or Devyn would make them leave.

Devyn didn't even bother to look at Zoe as she did her best to well...keep herself in check. Even if the shadows casted on the ground were starting to pull in her direction and she was starting to squeeze the water bottles that were in her hands.

Zoe giggled at the growl and the comment. She was the only one. everyone else skittered away like, well, like sheep who had just been growled at by a wolf. A few did shoot Devyn quick glances, most likely wanting to know what she looked like when they abused themselves over imaginary scenes at some later date. But the vast majority fled in something akin to terror, leaving Zoe and Devyn alone. Zoe moved to pluck a bottle from Devyn's hands, cracking it open and taking a swig.

"Sorry," she said, lowering it, "I was thirsty and--" she frowned, noting that Devyn looked... tense. Why would Devyn look tense? Zoe frowned, trying to think of what could have possibly happened between now and then. Did it have something to do with the growl and scaring everyone away? That might be. It certainly made sense. Or did Devyn just want to spend time with Zoe alone?

"You don't have to worry," said Zoe, obviously having elected that last as the most likely explanation for things. She moved forward, lightly kissing her girlfriend on the lips before rocking back, again bringing the water up to her lips. "You're getting to take me home tonight, remember? All yours," she giggled and moved back, spreading her arms. This meant bumping into someone, which meant another apology, with Zoe pointing at her girlfriend and repeating that she was, in fact, Devyn's, which would most likely result in the guy giving Devyn a look that clearly communicated that she should keep track of her obviously inebriated girlfriend. Zoe was, of course, still giggling.

They were wise to scatter like the little sheep that they all were, or would end up being by the time Devyn really lost her cool. She didn't care what looks she was given, the fear did make her still feel powerful, in change, an alpha. Yet it still didn't even really matter since she found it hard to care about such things when you were feeling mixed up. Yes Zoe was drunk, people acted differently when they had something to drink, and that was no fault on Zoe. Devyn had been the one to not say anything and let her girlfriend go on ahead and have a drink. Even still, she was not a happy Devyn to say the least. Green eyes still dark as she watched to make sure everyone was a good distance away before she felt Zoe take the water bottle from her hand and was quickly drinking from it. There was an apology and Devyn just gave a small shrug as she opened her water bottle as well and took a sip from it, finding herself not even thirsty at the moment.

Devyn's eyes glanced over to Zoe when she spoke about how Devyn didn't have to worry; she was going to be the one to take Zoe home tonight. As if that had been one of Devyn’s fears? No, Devyn didn't really care who she ended up taking to bed tonight, Zoe had wanted Devyn to so she was going to do it. Make this a good night for her. It's about Zoe. Devyn repeated to herself in her head as she took a deep breath to calm the sea of raging emotions that seemed to just be crashing into the shore harder with each passing moment. That shore representing Devyn's will to care and try, being eroded by the constant crashing waves upon the shore. "Right..." Devyn responded simply but gave a small smile, one that was forced since she was not really in the mood to actually smile at the moment. Zoe bumping into someone again and Devyn getting a look that just made her growl at them and reach out for Zoe.

"We should get you back to my room now. Or wherever you want to go." Devyn said, not really a suggestion, more of a 'we really should do this because if not who knows what will happen'. "We could do a few more dances if you really want but you’re a bit too drunk and it’s going to be obvious to the chaperones you have been drinking and since you are not twenty one you could get into trouble. You don't want any trouble right?" Devyn said, trying to use something akin to logic on Zoe to see if that would work. She had already suggested to Zoe that they leave before but Zoe said not yet. Maybe now Zoe would be ready to leave. If anything Devyn still wondered why people didn't seem to get the hint of her wanting to leave a place as well when she would suggest leaving.

More growling, and this time, Zoe couldn't help but join in a little. She let out a little growl as Devyn pulled her close, before moving up to finish with a little nip at Devyn's ear. Zoe probably would've started kissing her way down Devyn's jaw then too, except Devyn did the whole talking thing and Zoe told herself she should be a good girl and pay attention and junk because that's what good girlfriends did and they were totally good girlfriends or at least they were supposed to be and stuff so Zoe settled down and listened and about this time she'd missed about half of what Devyn had been saying.

Too drunk, obvious, trouble... "But lots of people are tipsy and stuff," argued Zoe, pointing around. "It's not like we're making out or something," and for a moment, Zoe actually wondered why. She was tempted to lean forward and try it a bit, or maybe some touching, but no, Zoe was supposed to be a good Zoe so instead she just giggled. she leaned forward, tugging at Devyn's jacket.

"We have to stay for at least a little while longer," she said, then actually pouted up at Devyn. "We only danced one slow dance, and I want to dance in my prince's arm for at least a couple," she leaned up to kiss Devyn's lips lightly then, affection oozing from Zoe with the gesture. She giggled then, before seeming to trip on what appeared to be her own heels, falling a little into Devyn.

Was it bad that the growling at first made Devyn growl back louder, as if she had been challenged and then actually was chuckling a little. Damn it was hard to actually stay mad at Zoe for a long time when Zoe was just so damn cute. Granted Devyn was fighting back all sorts of hormones right now and she was feeling like she was being bipolar or something close to it. Her mood did get dark easily and sometimes it was pretty easy to get Devyn out of that dark place. All it took apparently was to growl back and that cruel ear nip. "I'm really going to make you pay for all the ear attacks you have done tonight." Devyn pointed out, a small smile, one that did not last, but it was real at least this time. Zoe at least behaved herself enough to stop at just the ear nip and looked as if she was paying attention to what Devyn was saying.

Zoe actually making a good point back about how other people were tipsy. Devyn taking a moment to look around and confirm this as pretty much a fact. Not everyone of course, but there were quite a few people that were getting more on the drunken side. Devyn wanted to be one of them but she knew that if she actually allowed herself to get drunk as well, she probably end up dead by the time she and Zoe would make it back to her room. Her mind would completely forget about the danger and go for what she really wanted and Zoe didn't seem like she was going to put up a fight in her current state. So Devyn was going to have to be the strong one for the moment. "True, even if I do want to make out with you. We can't however, well not fully anyways." Devyn pointed out, watching Zoe carefully to make sure Zoe didn't try teasing her again. There was giggling and then tugging at her jacket.

Devyn was half tempted to ask if Zoe was tugging on her because she wanted the jacket gone or if she planned on pulling Devyn in the direction of the bathroom. They had to stay a little longer, said with a pout. Zoe's words just making Devyn calm down a little more. Then a kiss, Devyn kissing back and looking into those brown eyes that just had so much love in them. She really could not understand how Zoe could love her like she did, knowing Devyn was still doing things with other people, and was not really like the best girlfriend you wanted if you wanted a relationship built on love and romance. Devyn went to open her mouth to say something but Zoe tripped and fell into her, Devyn of course still pretty much ready for such a thing and catches Zoe. Holding her close and shaking her head with a small chuckle.

"I don't know if you can even dance without ending up breaking something. Might have to just do only slow dances and keep you close against me so you don't fall." Devyn half teased, but was mostly being honest. She was half tempted to offer up Zoe taking off her shoes and standing on Devyn's feet so Devyn could do the 'dancing work' and Zoe could be at the maximum closeness she could be against Devyn for dancing.

Zoe giggled as Devyn threatened her. Some part of her brain, the part that was still working to some degree, pointed out that Devyn probably would be good to her word this time. Those ear attacks were going to come back to bite Zoe, possibly in a very, very literal way very, very soon. Not like that was going to stop Zoe any; she almost wanted that to happen, after all. She felt all warm and stuff despite the water bottle she still had in her hand. Thinking of said bottle and the heat and all made Zoe lift it up to take another swig, swaying only a little.

No making out though, at least, not for now. Kissing though, little light ones. Zoe didn't quite see the same affection beaming from her girlfriend's eyes that went through hers, but then again, she supposed she shouldn't. She was tempted to ask, to say something, but Devyn had already continued talking, pointing out Zoe's clumsiness. Zoe giggled at that, holding her hands up to cover her mouth for the most part, swaying a little.

"You can keep me as close as you want," said Zoe, sliding up to Devyn. By sheer work of Fate, the music shifted to another slow song then. Zoe took advantage, extending her limbs and working herself around Devyn for a bit, taking up the standard position. She giggled again, moving to lay her head against Devyn's shoulder yet again. A few deep breaths followed, each one helping to calm Zoe just a little, not that she thought she really needed calming. No, she needed something... else.

Yes Devyn was going to make Zoe pay for all the teasing soon as they would leave the prom and Zoe would be trapped in Devyn's room. Well not really trapped because if Zoe really wanted to leave, Devyn would not stop her. She was not like that even if she was possessive and protective. She would go pretty far in things, but in the end if someone made something clear then she would do her best to behave. That was why she was being so good tonight after all. Zoe had made it clear that she wanted Devyn to be good back when Zoe was sober and that was what Devyn had been doing this whole time. Even now she was still fighting to be good, but as soon as they were no longer at prom then there would be no need for her to be good. Not need to hold back other than the usual amount of holding back for the sake of not wanting to end up in the infirmary or dead.

Devyn had pretty much chugged down most of the water in her water bottle, only hot because of how close Zoe was to her and the fact that she had been angry a moment ago and she tended to heat up then. Which was good because her power made her cold so if she was already pretty hot before she used it, the cold was less of a bother. Not that it ever really was a bother. There would not be that same love returned back to Zoe, Devyn could not. It was just complicated and even more so because Devyn was pretty much planning for the day when she was going to break up with Zoe and how to do it. She just knew that after tonight she was going to for sure pull back on the whole kissing and being close to one another. Like weaning a puppy off of his mother’s milk, you had to do it in steps.

"More so me wanting to make sure that you don't fall and hurt yourself." Devyn said with another small chuckle as she went still as Zoe slid up to her. A slow song came on, perfect and Zoe was already moving into position and ready to dance. Another giggle and Zoe's head resting on Devyn's shoulder. Devyn moving to kiss Zoe's forehead and move her arms in the standard position around Zoe and moved to the slow music, going silent to take in the moment and also didn't want Zoe telling her to shh or covering her mouth again. She just might bite it if she did.

Zoe giggled again at Devyn's words. "I won't fall,' she insisted, playfully tapping Devyn. This time she at least had some control over the degree of the slapping, making sure it was only a few playful taps, not relatively stiff blows she'd been giving as of late (blame the alcohol). She giggled again, and only did so again when Devyn kissed Zoe's forehead. Zoe leaned forward then to gently kiss Devyn's neck, figuring that they should exchange a kiss for a kiss. She adjusted her hands too, sliding down for a moment to entwine her fingers in Devyn's.

Again, Zoe wasn't really thinking clearly, wasn't thinking about the whole not wearing gloves or her numbing power or anything along those lines. She was just thinking that she wanted to touch her girlfriend, to hold her girlfriend's hands again. She even gave Devyn's hand a little squeeze, wanting to remind her that they were there.

They were moving to the music though, at least, Zoe was. She seemed to be handling the dancing okay, so long as it was to the music, nice, slow and sedate and all. She let out another little coo, almost trying to cuddle up against Devyn again, as if cuddling and dancing were more compatible somehow.

"Alright." Devyn responded and sort of tried to brace herself for the hitting, this time however it did not hurt. Not that before it hurt too bad or anything, but it didn't feel good. Either was Devyn was just pleased that the taps were just simple taps and she was not going to have to think about possibly getting a bruise from all the hitting that was being done to her tonight. All the abuse and she never thought it would come from Zoe. It was still half hot because Devyn did like those who at least tried to take change and make it clear what they wanted from her. When things were clear there was less confusion, less doubt, and Devyn didn't have to worry about well doing something that would result in her getting hit like she had been for most of the evening.

Devyn gave Zoe a look, one that was 'be good' at the kiss to her neck that Zoe gave her in return. Devyn was fine with the returned kiss and her neck was not her weakness or anything but she didn't want Zoe to start giving her too many or anything. Hands took Devyn's and she would deal with it for the moment since nothing was going to fall off right away. She had still some time before she would completely lose feeling and it would spread. There was a squeeze that Devyn only felt a little bit as the tingling started to turn to numbness. "Thanks for going to prom with me." Devyn said after a moment of moving to the music with Zoe, feeling the sensation crawling up her arm a little so she moved to pull back from Zoe. "Might be best if you let my hands go about now, Zoe." Devyn added, not wanting to be rude but she really did not want to go to the infirmary or deal with that kind of drama.

Devyn did smile a little at the cooing and how Zoe seemed like she was going to manage to cuddle up against Devyn even while they dance. Her mind going back to the time when she and Zoe were spending time with one another and Devyn had teased her about how if she snuggled too much she was going to end up just merging with her. She really, really didn't want to end up merging with someone.

Zoe didn't see the look, not that she'd have paid much attention to a reproving look, even if she had seen it. She was more focused on the hand holding and leaving her head draped against Devyn's chest and all that bit. "Thanks for being my prince," she mumbled back as she barely heard Devyn's comment. She giggled at that. as if Devyn didn't thoroughly enjoy being her prince. Then again, Zoe thoroughly enjoyed being at prom, so she supposed that it was all pretty good in the end.

Let hands go: "Oops,' said Zoe, giggling again as she drew her hands out. "Sorry about that." She didn't seem nearly as scared as she would've been. Just a few more giggles about how silly she'd been, her hands brought back down to hold Devyn's sides. She moved right along with the music then, taking several deep breaths. Zoe really wanted to say I love you now, but the words wouldn't come, even when she was drunk. Instead she turned to look up at Devyn, a sloppy, affectionate smile spreading on her lips.

"I wish you could be my first tonight," she said, her voice breathy, "it's just perfect, isn't it?" she laughed lightly at that, not quite the foolish giggle this time, and cuddled up against Devyn, letting out another coo. Everything was just perfect, wasn't it?

Devyn really did like being called a prince, not even for the fact that is was supposed to be for males. She was happy being a female and didn't ever want to change her gender or anything just so she could follow the whole 'proper' titles for a gender. Her father had called her his little prince and just having someone else calls her that reminded her of him, made her feel good, and warm. Zoe was basically saying all the right words, or word to make Devyn forget about the issues of the night thus far and just enjoy the moment of being with Zoe. She was not even thinking about how this probably was going to end up being the last time they danced like this, yet that was not really true. Devyn would dance like this with a friend, less kissing and maybe not like glued to one another, but there was nothing bad about dancing with your friend. Plus it was not like there was anything sexual about slow dancing; at least Devyn didn't really see it or feel it as a sexual thing.

"It's alright." Devyn responded back, not having a need for an apology but also noted how Zoe was not freaking out or anything. No half panic attacks and a ton of questions about if Devyn was about to die or something. It was a bit of a fresh air to have Zoe in a relaxed manner such as she was. With Devyn's emotions already on the rocks of late she really didn't need to be dealing with super heavy emotions. She would for the sake of the people she cared about, but that didn't mean it was easy. Zoe was looking at her, with an almost dopy cute looking smile that just had Devyn looked back at her with a small smile of her own, but there was a tad bit confusion there. Wondering what Zoe wanted to say or if she was just going to stare at Devyn. Then words that reminded Devyn once more why she was going to end it with Zoe. One of the reasons anyways, which seemed horrible of her, but it had been three months now. Three months, a love confession; both conditions of what made Devyn break up with someone had already been met.

"It would have been a perfect night for it, but oh well." Devyn said, acting as if it was not a big deal as she gave a small shrug of her shoulders. She didn't want to talk about what she wanted to do but could not do because of Zoe power. It was probably just going to end up an almost cruel night for Devyn since she could not get what she wanted from Zoe on such a night and she could not go out to get it because Zoe wanted her to remain with just her.
