NAME: Taylor Jane Johnson
NICKNAME: Tay, T.J
AGE: 22, April 16th, 1992
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Pansexual
POSITION: Bellefonte Academy Recruiter
FACE CLAIM: Deborah Ann Woll
POWER:
Visual Telepathy & Mind Walking
Taylor has the ability to see instead of reading the thoughts of other people (She can also project her own thoughts and memories the same way). This allows her to not only receive, but also see the thoughts and memories of other people. It works almost like watching a movie, only that you're the only one who can see it. Her ability to mind walk wallows her to actually enter the mind of other people, and here she is able to see, feel, hear and touch everything in the particular memory/thought or subconscious event she has entered. The other person(s) will not be able to see, hear, smell or feel her as the memories generally has happened already. (She cannot alter anything, since she doesn't actually travel back in time) She will only view the 'memory' in third person, kind of like watching it from the outside. Taylor can use this ability to learn someone's history, discover lost memories and help someone remember something they might have forgotten.
Limitations
➽ Taylor cannot use her ability on someone who has the power to generate mental shields, or someone who's ability allow them to block out certain and/or all mental abilities or attacks.
➽ Taylor needs to physically touch someone for either of her abilities to work or have any effect, and therefore cannot read/see/enter someone's mind over distance or whenever she wants to.
➽ Taylor cannot control what she sees or what memory she enters. Alas, she cannot search through someone's head and specifically pick a memory or thought of her own choice. It has to be something the person she uses her ability on is thinking about currently, or something within the debts of their subconsciousness (She can ask them a question or say something related to something to make them specifically think about said thing).
➽ The memories/thoughts she enters will feel real, as if she is actually in the situation herself. She will be able to hear, smell, feel and see everything around her, which can be potentially confusing and or/dangerous. This can lead to panic, and she has at times gotten stuck inside someone's head until being able to separate what is real and what is not.
Side Effects
➽ Headaches and migraines, this is pretty self explanatory, but Taylor more or less walks around with a constant headache which often grows into a migraine.
➽ Nosebleeds, extensive usage of her power often leads her to having nosebleeds.
➽ Exhaustion, she needs to sleep a lot and frequent usage of her ability makes her tired and exhausted, sometimes to the point of passing out or being temporarily paralyzed.
➽ Trouble sleeping, usage of her ability leaves her restless or shaken to the point of being unable to sleep, which in turn makes her ability weaker because for her to use her ability, she needs to be well rested. She also suffers from nightmares, all depending on what memory or thought she enters or sees.
➽ Both herself and the person whose mind Taylor enters, ends up in a trance-like state which leaves them both locked out from reality, and quite vulnerable to the world around them.
➽ Her own memories can become confused with others; Basically, she can have trouble figuring out what memories belong to her and what memories doesn't.
''Are you ready to begin?'' The man asked, shuffling the papers in his hand before looking at the redhead above the top of his glasses. The 5'10 redhead nodded and let her blue eyes circle around the room once before fixing her gaze back at the man, nodding once more, as if only to confirm what she had previously nodded at. Yes, she was ready. She had been waiting for this for a long time.
''What do you see as being your most significant accomplishment?''
The redhead shifted in her seat before pursing her full lips, running a hand through her straight her, ''Well, graduating college maybe,'' she laughed. The man didn't smile. Rubbing the back of her neck, the redhead sighed, ''Well, since both of my parents were teachers, education was very important to them. So my goal has always been to graduate with the best grades I could possibly muster, and then get a good job afterwards. But, as you know, things didn't quite end up that way. My biggest accomplishment is learning how to control my ability without it being a liability to me or the people around me.''
''You entered Bellefonte Academy at the age of,'' the man began and looked at his papers, ''Eleven, correct?'' The redhead nodded, ''And graduated at eighteen?'' Another nod. ''And then you entered college to study... You didn't go to college?'' The readhead shook her head. ''I see. So, why do you want to be a recruiter?''
''Because I want to help others the same way I was helped. My parents weren't mutants, so getting through the first manifestation without knowing what was going on with my body... It was terrifying. Being approached by a recruiter a few days after it happened, it was well... It was a relief. It helped me realize I wasn't alone, and that I wasn't some kind of freak. I want to give children the same feeling.''
''I see. You grew up in Seattle, Washington, and both your parents worked with children, as teachers. How did they react? When someone came to take their child away?''
The redhead shifted again, smiling awkwardly, ''As you can imagine, they were shocked. At first, they didn't believe it. They didn't want to, which I understand. But after a few hours of conversation, they realized what I could do. The recruiter showed me how to prove it, and then I did... They were scared. But they understood - after a while that it was the best thing for me. I needed to learn how to control it. I needed to be safe, because the general public didn't know about me, about us.''
''Why do you think you'd make a good recruiter? I mean, your power doesn't exactly help you much in this area...''
''I know. But there are other means, other people who can help me find these children. And I want to help them. I don't think I'll be a good recruiter, I know. I'm good with people. I have a good temper and...''
The man lifted his hand, stopping her. ''You have quite the record here; Shoplifting, breaking into a house, arsen...'' he trailed off and sighed, ''Miss. Morgan. You are not exactly the kind of... person we would like to use as an example for young children.''
''I was young, and I was stupid. I was a teenager. I had a rebellious streak. Tell me, what teenager doesn't rebel - or want to? To be able to help others you need to understand where they are coming from. I know I'm not perfect, and I know that my record isn't clean; But I've been there. I know what some of these teenagers have gone and are going to go through. I can help them. How? Because I have experience. I've been there.''
Sighing again, the man leaned back in his chair, pinching the bridge of his nose. He let his gaze slide across the room before leaning forward, placing both of his elbows against the counter. ''When was the last time you were angry, Miss. Morgan?''
Looking away, the young female sighed, ''Is this a job interview or a psyche evaluation?''
''Answer the question.''
''Last week. It was on the bus, this guy didn't want to get up for this pregn-''
''Did you use your ability on him?''
''...'' The redhead looked away, furrowing her brows before pushing the chair away. ''I was trying to help.''
''I'm sure you were. But that kind of behavior is not acceptable. In this job you can't get emotionally involved. You are an example of something these children wants to become. You have to teach them they cannot use their abilities whenever it suits them. We cannot risk it.''
''What good are having powers if we can't use them for good?''
''It's for yours, ours and their safety.''
Sighing, the redhead stood from her chair and folded her arms across her chest. ''So, we are going to stand idly by and watch the rest of the world suffer because we are afraid? We're doomed to be cowards for the rest of our lives because someone up top has decided it's better that we remain the government's dirty little secret?''
''Yes.''
''How can you say that so easily?! There are hundreds of kids out there that are feeling los-''
''And yet, here we are discussing whether or not you agree with what the government has decided is the best for our kind.''
The redhead fell silent, a solemn expressing growing over her features, ''Last week,'' she repeated.
''Good. Now, what does most people often criticize about you?''
''They say I'm impulsive. I act without thinking. I do whatever feels right in the moment and I protect the people around me without thinking about the further consequences. I'm passionate to the point where I'm reckless. I don't follow rules like I should, and I have too strong of an opinion.''
''Good. We need that. Welcome on board Miss. Morgan.''
