Evan frowned slightly at the other boy's somewhat blase attitude towards the whole situation. He was reminded of the bad situation he had put him and Charlie in before. It still stung, but having someone from out of their immediate circle touch on it felt very sensitive.
"I get what you're saying. I just thought it shouldn't have been so public. You call yourself Clean Laundry. I thought your whole thing was being nice." Evan shrugged.
Tim had a point about the more fun sports. Although Evan himself thought baseball was pretty fun so...
Sighing at the question, Evan shrugged and turned to Tim. "I don't make it a point to leave people hanging." He responded before chuckling at his accidental joke. He stopped when he realised it was probably in poor taste. "Sorry. Couldn't help myself." He rubbed the back of his neck and looked away.

"It's about making people know the stuff that needs addressing, and Charlie's getting thin, so it's more about drawing attention to that then the crap," said Tim, trying not to sound exasperated. He'd heard this sort of thing before. You were the good one, so act like it. He was, but he was also human, and sometimes what was good in general might hurt someone's feelings. so what if he pissed Charlie and her friends off? If she had an eating disorder or was hurting herself, better that she was pissed at someone like him and getting help. Whatever; Tim did what he wanted anyway.
Tim did appreciate the joke though, chuckling at it, even raising a hand to wipe at his face. "Man, first you berate me for my vlog and now you're pummeling me with bad jokes. Shoulda just let me cream myself,' he sighed, lowering his hand and looking up at Evan. The other guy was looking away now, rubbing and looking awkward.
"Yeah, I'm thinking I should walk it off. Still feel up to offering me the hand?" he asked, extending a hand, raising a brow. He wouldn't have blamed Evan for kicking him repeatedly, given everything that had passed between them already.
"Yeah, I guess." Evan responded a little quietly. He didn't want to kick up a fuss but at the same time, he felt a little defensive of her friend despite kind of agreeing with Tim. He supposed the only thing wrong was how he shed light on the matter. It could have been a little more private than having it broadcasted throughout the whole school.
Rubbing the back of his neck, he shrugged at Tim's response. It was a little drastic, wanting to cream himself instead of listening to his bad jokes, but he got the gist.
Despite the awkward situation he had gotten himself in though, Evan hated having any sort of bad blood between him and someone else. It was partly why he had tried to initiate some sort of truce between him and his long-time roommate.
He reached out and grabbed Tim's hand and gripped it tight, not forcing him to move, rather lending him support should he start to move. "No use leaving you here to rot. You do more good than anything." Evan shrugged, offering a small smile.

Since it seemed like they were gonna leave the whole Charlie thing alone for now, Tim did precisely that. He had to chuckle at Evan's discomfort at his comments though. "Man, I'm joking. Chill out," he said, shaking his head. Soon enough though, Evan was extending a hand and helping Tim get to his feet. He offered a compliment too, one that sounded a lot like a peace offering.
Well, he had helped get Tim down, and the guy seemed cool enough, all things considered. Tim grinned at Evan, nodding. "Thanks for that. Also helps coming from someone who just did some good," he gestured at the various mats, before releasing Evan's hand and looking at them. He tapped his fingers against his chin for a moment, before moving forward to nudge one with his foot.
"I suppose we really should put these back, huh?" he asked, looking over at Evan. It did seem like the sort of thing two people who just declared themselves do-gooders would do. Somehow thinking that didn't make Tim want to do it any more though.
"Yeah, I knew that." Evan chuckled sheepishly. He did know that but it was just like him to think Tim was lying. There had to be some truth to it, right?
His next laugh seemed a lot more genuine as Tim sort of validated his decency.
At Tim's statement, Evan adjusted his glasses and chuckled with a nod. "Spose so. I mean Spiderman doesn't help clean up the city of his webs but he had Gwen and MJ to keep him occupied." The techno geek shrugged as he started to drag a few mats off to the corner. "I don't see myself getting distracted trying to save any girl elsewhere so...clean up it is."

A spiderman quote? Yeah, they were so going to get along once they got over the whole awkward bit. "That's probably why J. Jonah is all up in his case. He's just really anti-pollution and all. Actually, I think, like, his webs dissolved in the comics or something. Did you know they actually put together a superhero clean up crew? Like all they did was go around to places where supers fought and picked up trash and junk."
Tim moved and began dragging a pad, somehow managing to pull one. He took several deep breaths and managed to pull it at least a few feet before needing to stop and catch his breath, sucking in the air. "Yeah, clearly I'd suck at that," he said, laughing lightly. The laugh made his ribs hurt and Tim winced. Probably just a bruise, nothing to worry about. "Probably where I'd end up though. Don't see many superheros with the amazing ability to talk to and imitate the ferocious bat."
Tim finally dragged one over and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. Yay, one. At this rate it would only take them an hour to get all the cleanup done. How had Evan pulled so many under Tim in such a short time?
Evan gladly laughed at Tim's attempt at dissolving the awkwardness, though trying to recall whether he had read the same information or Tim was just pulling his leg. Either way, Evan laughed and just agreed to whatever Tim said.
"Ah come on, you're hurt. I'm sure you can do better if you were at the peak of your strength. Or something." Evan reassured the other boy. Though if Tim was anything like Evan, he would probably not believe it either.
Pouting and frowning a little at Tim's undermining, Evan shook his head. "Can you imagine if Batman was bitten by a radioactive bat instead of having mucho money?" He shrugged and pulled off another mat to place in the corner.
Having had to drag bags of baseballs and baseball bats and mitts for years now, Evan could easily say he had built some upper body strength, which could explain why he had been able to drag the mats. Although to be honest, they weren't that heavy anyway. Plastic and foam did not a heavy mat make.
"So, we got off on the wrong foot. I wanna apologise and uh...start over? I'm Evan Webb. I like computers. Your show is actually pretty funny. Nice to meet you."

Hey look at that: Tim's nerdy buffoonery resulted in helping diffuse tension. If only it worked like that every time. Still, he chuckled and shook his head as Evan insisted that he probably could've done better under different circumstances. "Not by a lot," Tim added vocally, looking over at the other guy.
"And they totally did that: Man-bat, the freakish bat person. Though Batman definitely would've been a different comic book if they'd gone the radioactive bat bite instead of 'crazy guy dresses up in a costume and we all just sort of play along thing,'" Tim probably would've done the air quotes if he hadn't been tugging aside a mat at the time. Between the two of them, they'd already gotten nearly all of them. Tim figured that he could probably quit after this one and not even feeling guilty about it.
"No problem," said Tim, shaking his head. "I was kinda tense and defensive and shit. I get some haters, you know? Oh, yeah, Tim Tawfeek, but you probly already knew that. You seriously follow my blog? Seems like i've actually got an audience," which Tim hadn't really considered before now. He'd have to make certain to try and actually do something with that at some point.
Evan chuckled and shrugged at Tim's self depracation. Tim didn't look like he was the type to like being mollycoddled so Evan didn't try to convince him. Even if he did feel bad that Tim thought of himself that way.
Laughing at the idea of Batman being a completely different superhero, Evan kept on pulling mats to the corner. He didn't even realise that Tim had stopped helping.
"It's alright. I'm just not very good at letting things go when it comes to friends. Charlie's my best friend you know?" Evan grimaced lightly before nodding at Tim's question. "You do though. You should get a hit counter on your blog to trek down all your viewers."

Tim had only stopped for a bit, mostly because he'd thought there had been less work left than there was. the moment he realized otherwise, he groaned and started moving again, figuring that he should at least put up an effort. Like so many, he'd learned the art of at least looking like he was working, and he went through the motions now.
Best friend? Well, that was just Tim's luck. He winced at the thought. Wouldn't be the first best friend to go after him though, and probably wouldn't be the last either. "I've been working on it. Having trouble finding one I really like," he admitted, shrugging. "And the vid hosts do keep track of views and junk, but, like, I'm not looking to make money or anything."
Not that Tim hadn't thought about it. Just sign up for a good hosting site, let the ad revenue come it. It just felt counterproductive to what he wanted to do. So even if it would've made things better for him, he took the high road... for now. Unlike the current situation, where Tim moved at half-speed, halfheartedly tugging one of the last mats back into the right position.
Unaware of the potential of money making in view counters, Evan suddenly became very interested in putting up a site. What he would do, he didn't know. Maybe just stupid shit, with a healer on retainer.
Once he saw that the mats were in place, Evan wiped his face and grinned in satisfaction. "Okay, I think this deserves something sweet." He patted his pocket to make sure his wallet was in it before looking up at Tim.
"Hey, wanna go and get something sweet to get your mind off things?"

Tim looked over what they'd (mostly Evan) had done, noting all the mats in the right places and stuff. He nodded, satisfied that they'd at least managed to, well, put everything back in its place. He heard some patting and looked over, seeing Evan patting his wallet.
Sweet? What were they, twelve year olds? Except the moment Evan said it, Tim thought it sounded like a good idea. He chuckled, shaking his head at the absurdity of it. Quickly realizing what that looked like, Tim held up a hand. "I'm not turning you down. It just sounds... weird, that's all," he chuckled again before adjusting his glasses. "Give me a sec to get changed and stand under a hot shower for a bit, then I'll be ready for it."
And Tim would wait till Evan was cool with this before heading for the showers. Okay, so he'd gotten stuck, and that had sucked, but it seemed like he might have made a friend out of it, and, well, Tim could use all the friends he could get.
Evan didn't take much offence when Tim responded that what he said had been weird. If he were to be honest, he sometimes felt like a character in a seventies family comedy. Which would all fine and dandy until he realised that he sounded like an old fart sometimes when he spoke.
"Okay! I don't mind waiting. Go for it." He nodded. "Maybe I'll just go and wait at the entrance while you clean up."
Once that was settled, Evan took his time making his way over to the entrance of the school. It may have started out weird but Evan thought he made quite the progress friendship wise. That wasn't so bad.
