POWER INFO: Gravity Manipulation
The ability to manipulate the natural phenomenon called gravity, in a number of different ways. For Cyril specifically he can control how ‘heavy’ or ‘light’ someone or something is. His power is activated in two ways, one of which he has full control over but still has room for improvement and the other where he has no control over at all still.
The one he had control over is activated/triggered by him snapping his fingers, not mattering which fingers make the snapping sound, but the hand he uses to snap does. If he snaps with his right hand then it causes a person to become heavier and heavier with each snap of his right hand until the person or object is basically being crushed down on the surface. When he snaps with his left hand, this makes said objects or persons become lighter and lighter with each snap of his left hand. His ability works in a radius style, where he can affect multiple people or objects in a certain radius, but also just focus on one person(s) or object(s). He can also use the ability on himself, which he does often to make himself weightless to have fun.
His ability works in a manner of based upon someone’s or something weight. Really light objects or people could end up floating from one snap where as a heavy object(s) takes a few snaps before it is fully airborne. When weightless to the point of being air born, think of it as floating, as if the surrounding area has just become like you were in a swimming pool. Any movement acted upon you or an object causes said object to drift in said direction, as if floating in space. (floating in space is probably the best way to think of it in terms of how movement works). The only way to get out of being weightless is to somehow move your body out of his radius, which is very hard. (ideal way if to do flips to get your body in motions, which is hard if you can’t do an actual flip at normal gravity. Also if you get out of his radius normal gravity kicks back in meaning you will fall.) If is knocked or made unconscious some way his ability stops then as well, but if not of that occurs then he has to snap you back to normal gravity. Meaning he has to keep track of how many times he snapped or you will feel unbalanced and have a hard time moving around. Negative side to people who have this done on them is if they easily get motion sickness or are afraid of heights, if he makes them weightless.
The part of his power that he cannot control is doing it without snapping, which the ideal goal for him, in case of he is not being able to snap. This ability tends to kick in only when he is in a deep sleep and therefore cannot control it. Often being awakened from hitting his head on his ceiling, feeling himself being pushed down into his bed, or his cat freaking out when made weightless. This ‘Power Surge’, as his call it tends to just making everything weightless where ever he is sleeping, or adding weight and causing things in a room to break or fall. So far he had figured it out that it happens once a week only when he reaches the deep sleep point. He still not figured out how to use the part of his power when he is awake, so has to stick to snapping.
Limitations:
-Can’t create black holes
-Can’t make rooted or cemented object in the ground weightless (so no lifting building, trees, plants, etc.)
-Can only activate/trigger his power by snapping a certain hand at the moment
- Powers only work for a certain radius (pretty much the area of standard/common living room and dining room combined)
-If wanting to make just specific person(s) or object(s) weightless he has to be able to see them
-If he uses his power for a long period of time it makes him sick; headaches, nose bleeds, fatigue, and vomiting the longer he uses it in a consecutive time. (so he can’t go the whole day weightless sadly)
-Can only move someone ‘up’ or ‘down’ with his power (so can’t send a wave of gravity to send them flying)
-Can’t use his power on mutants who can fly without wings (something inside them in a way able to defy the laws of gravity)
GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Cyril is very muscular due his job working with horses, lifting heavy hay bells, and in general staying in shape since its healthy and killer bod makes the ladies stare a little longer. Blonde hair that he spikes up to give it that messy and wild look, not liking his hair flat at all, so expect to see it hidden by a hat or not to see him at all if his hair is flat. He likes to keep something of a scruffy beard, well maintained, but never lets it get out of control, and even shaves it all off from time to time. Standing at 6’1” he likes to pick things up that are smaller than him, going as far as to carrying them over his shoulders or even attempting to bench pressing with their bodies. With blue eyes that look innocent, he basically can be seen as something of a puppy.
MUST HAVE APPAREL:
Since Cyril is a working guy he tends to have three sets of clothing styles that he wears depending on what he is doing. For when he is working it is blue jeans, black boots, a white or black shirt, and typically a jacket of sorts. Sometimes he will throw in a cowboy hat if he is really feeling old school and living the cowboy dream. Fingerless loves are a must when he is working, he always has a pair on, and full gloves to when he is doing work that could damage his hands. For more official work he makes sure to clean up all nice and wear a nice suit and tie, very professional. Any other time he tends to wear laid back clothing, still consisting mostly of different color of blue jeans. For shoes wise it goes back and forth between boots and sneakers, but he is pretty sure he could pull of heels if he really tried and had a need to. He really does like fingerless gloves so tend to have a pair of them on so long as he is not doing something business like.
PERSONALITY:
Horses! Cyril loves horses, they are his all-time favorite animal in the world and he loves everything about them and working with them. He could talk for hours on end about horses if someone asked his questions he would be happy to answer all that he could. His main goal is to get people to understand horses and to enjoy them as well, maybe not as much as he does, but at least enough to come and want to pet them. He enjoys all animals in fact, mainly mammals since he feels that he can relate to them more. Having a soft spot for animals that brings out his more kind and nurturing side like he has with his little sister. Speaking of his little sister, he loves her to pieces, and no one can change his mind on that. He will practically do anything for his little sister for the rest of his days alive, and make her happy; even if that is not so easy all the time. Touch his baby sister or even get a hair out of place, when he finds out (and he will find out), be prepared to have to deal with a brother with a shot gun.
Where Cyril is nice and loving to animals, he tends to end up being a little on the aggressive side when it comes to people. Especially people he sees or is acting ‘stupid’. Getting on his bad side is likely to result in getting yourself punched or being forced down to the ground by his power so he can step on. He can be a bit over aggressive if really angry to the point that he would not have a problem grinding you into the ground with his foot or kicking you repeatedly until he is sure a rib is broken. Yet this side of him is kept mostly under control since he tends to avoid situations or send people away that are pushing his buttons. Don’t dare treat his sister or any of the horses’ bad or you can guarantee that he is going to hurt you back, and it may on an emotional level, but also garneted physical. Don’t expect him to be a gentle lover either, because he is not but still thinks of himself as a good lover.
Even with his aggressive side towards people, he still is a pretty nice and fun loving guy, just don’t push his buttons and you are fine. He does not really get embarrassed so if he is dared to do something that won’t get him in too much trouble he might just do it. He is bold, speaking the first thing that comes to his mind at times, only spending time to think about serious matters, well when he deemed they were serious. So if he thought you were sexy when he first saw you, he was going to let you know, same applied if he ends up not liking you. You will pretty much always know how Cyril feels about you and if you are not sure ask and he will give you something of an answer. He LOVES puns, almost as much as he loves horses; so expect to hear at least one while you are talking about. Not matter how painful it is or how incredibly forced he tries to make sure he can get a pun out of something, it’s going to happen. He will get a nice chuckle out of it, even if you don’t like it. If you do, brownie points in his book. Literally brownie points since he will make you some.
EXTRA QUIRK:
A bit of a quirk that Cyril had that he can’t really control is that he hiccups when he is scared, drunk, or both. So don’t expect to hear a girlish scream from him if you manage to scare him, but instead of a hiccup which can leads to him fully having the hiccups. Whenever he is using his power on himself he tends to do flips, has to at least do one, because it’s fun. CHILDHOOD:
Cyril was the first one born to Daniel and Alana Kingsley back when they were happy being together, or at least for a small amount of time they were happy. Two people falling in love and getting married way too early, tends to result in people finding out that their loves for one another was not forever. For now however they were happy in a way with their little boy. The little shy blonde boy never really understood what went on behind closed doors and didn’t really think too much on it. His parents at least having put on a pretty good act at being happy when around him to the point that he never suspected that it was a failing marriage as soon as it begun. Growing up was kind of lonely, even more so with how Cyril didn’t really involve himself with the other kids, having been very, very shy. Like horrible sly, to the point that he would have small panic attacks whenever he had to talk to or someone besides his parents tried to talk to him. Cyril’s parents stressing from fear that their son was never going to open up and speak with people along with their own relationship problems.
Those fears were washed away when they had their next son named Hunter. Having a second child in attempt to see if that would help their marriage since they had done pretty well when taking care of a baby Cyril. When normally raising a baby was stressful the two seemed to be able to forget about their own problems and focus on the child’s needs. With a little Hunter around Cyril was a big brother, one who came out of his shell completely. Cyril always looked after his brother, teaching him things, and really becoming a very bubbly and happy kid. The two brothers got along pretty good and for a short time again everyone in the family was happy. Then the happiness started to be faked by the parents once more and this time around Cyril being an older started to pick up on it more, doing his best to hide it from Hunter, not wanting his little brother to worry about if their mommy and daddy loved each other or not. Not even allowing his brother to even think about if they would get split up if their parents had a divorce.
The marriage was held out once more by the birth of Cyril’s and Hunter’s baby sister Aria who Cyril just loved to pieces the day she was born. It was clear that he basically loved being an older brother and was more than eager to look after and take care of his baby sister just like he did for hunter. Yet even with Aria, the happiness between thee parents didn’t’ last as long as it had before. Aria had seemed a little different and the parents less tolerate of one another and Aria. That did not deter Cyril in anyway however. He still looked after both of his sibling equal, well a little more after Aria because she was younger and his cute little sister. Every big brother always dreams of having a little sister deep down and Cyril had gotten that dream fulfilled. Along with a violent side to him that had always been there and appareled a little as Hunter was growing up, but showed up now that Aria was around. You could have basically thought of Cyril as a momma bear over her cubs whenever someone hurt his siblings in anyway.
ADOLESCENCE:
Even as his parent’s relationship declined more and more each day to the point that spending time with family was more so the siblings were getting along and the mother and father being silent. Their silence making it awkward and leading to the children’s silence, but Cyril didn’t let it get him down. He still made sure his little brother sister were looked after and that they were alright. Looking after Aria especially since she was a little bit different, but that didn’t change his love for his little sister at all. It did however make him punch anyone that had given her any problem or said anything bad about her, even if Aria herself didn’t seem to mind. Cyril had even gotten into fights with their parents from time to time when they would complain about how difficult things were for them and then dealing with Aria on top of that. He still tried to make sure that either way that Aria and hunter understood that he was always going to be there for them not matter what.
Cyril didn’t get to keep that promise fully since in the middle of the night he had a ‘surge’ and everything in his room including himself was floating around his room as if he was in space. It was pretty scary, but not as scary as the fact that recruiters found him and came to take him away to St. Bethany in England, since that was where they were. He was at least able to say goodbye to his siblings and told them to call, write, and visit whenever they could. School life being like it had always been, but just with kids with powers. He made friends and dated a few people here and there, but still made sure to send letters home to see how things were going. Cyril was soon had his brother coming to join him in school as well when their brother came into his powers. Aria was still at home with their parents, this left Cyril greatly worried and just hoping that everything would be alright.
Everything was not alright however, not when Hunter got into a car accident which ended his life instantly. His younger brother hit Cyril hard, having become a very reclusive person and shutting others out for a time. If he didn’t have Aria still he might have completely broken, but he recovered for the knowledge that he still had Aria to look after. Making sure to gain better control of his powers and learning different ways of how he could help his sister learn to feel. Find that animals were good for teaching people emotions and found that horses were good therapy animals. It was around this time that Cyril fully found that he had a strong love for horses. Sure he had always loved them as a kid but the school had a few ponies and he loved everything about them.
ADULTHOOD:
Getting a job with horses was not really all that easy as Cyril had hoped for when he was able to leave the school when he proved he had enough control and common since to keep his power hidden. So he ended up working at a pet store for a while. Working at a pet shop was pretty enjoyable, but he did end up going to a Veterinarian School to get a degree of sorts. He still made sure to obtain all the knowledge he needed to be able to give animals medication and treat them, he even got his licensing. So he was official but didn’t really want to do the job of a veterinarian all the time, he wanted to be able to work with animals, but also be able to take care of them without the costly expenses of going to a vet, so that’s why he went to school to be his own personal vet. Returning to the pet shop where he enjoyed his work and was able to take care of all the various animals better. Obtaining a little black kitten that just would always end up staring at him every time he would come around to feed the litter of kitties. So he ended up taking her home and naming her Sphinx.
It was around that time that his sister had started to come into her powers the Cyril received word that his parents were no longer going to be together. Cyril figured that he was just going to end up moving closer to the school, but his parents were sending his little sister across the ocean to the sister school Bellefonte. There was no way that Cyril was going to be that great of a distance from his sister so he dropped his job, packed up, and went to move over with her. Not even worried about not having a job or home on the other side of the sea. Yet he lucked out when he found out that Bellefonte Academy had a nice little section up in the mountains that allowed them to have a few horses. He sprang right to the new job opening and was quickly able to work out a living space in order to not only be close to his sister, but also to be working where she was going to school at.
Recently with the whole new of the anti-mutant group Cyril has been making sure to keep a closer eye on his sister. He even had come up with many activities that they could get involved with the horses in order to distract them. No moves had been made yet, so the kids were still able to live a pretty normal life. He wanted them to still experience the fun and joys of life like he pretty much did even with being a mutant. His main goal being that the kids he worked with would be able to form a special bond with the horses and come to feel safe and comfortable around the animal and possible Cyril. He keeps his cat mainly at the stables, since even barn type structured needs a cat in order to keep mice away.
