The Missing Piece Theorem

He might have been wrong about her, he realized that as a possibility, but he was the kind of guy that believed everyone had some form of good in them. Some just where not good at showing it. Seiji did even believe that someone could be a bad person as well; it just all depended on the situation. Either way it boiled down to a matter of opinion and how the rest of the world viewed certain acts. If society didn’t accept something or saw it as bad then it was deemed 'bad'. Still Adelaide had planned on doing something good and useful with the money so he could not see her as bad. Plus he felt like there had to be an emotional involvement because she picked the school to give the money to, as if she wanted to settle a debt, or give a sign of thanks. She could have donated the money to anywhere and still deem it logical, so that’s why he felt that there were emotions involved.

Adelaide still did not seem to agree and was focused on the puzzle, getting more done at a faster rate and spending even less time with where she placed the puzzles. Seiji understood, since the fewer pieces you had to go the easier it were in a way, fewer place for you to trying to put a puzzle down in a spot it did not belong. Not as if Add was even doing the whole 'see if this goes here' thing and more so knew where she wanted to put something and that was where it went. She stopped however at his question and he quickly took a few mental notes. She seemed to be really think about her answer, which was sort of worrisome. Her answer didn’t really make it any better and his original image of Add was starting to change now as she spoke about it not really being for protection and more so because she could. If that didn’t sound like some super evil villain or a dangerously cocky person, then she would have been the first person he met that was like this.

"I see." Seiji said simply, going back to watching her put the puzzle together in silence for a moment as he processed her answer. Leevi however was not a happy snake since he missed his mark and ended up on the floor. No one had spotted him yet so he was quick to retreat back to his master and move so he could try again with his whole plan of getting closer to Add. Sure the snake could have just made his way up her chair when he landed in front of it, but he was determined to land in her lap so moved to try again. "So say would could end a person’s life and get away with it, say they did something knowing it would get a negative response out of you. Would you kill them?" Seiji asked, since that was the heart of it all really. Would she still kill someone if she could get away with it and she felt the desire to do so? He was a bit worried about how she would answer and found it interesting that he was watching her put a puzzle together while talking about such a topic.

Add hadn't noticed the snake, focused as she was on the puzzle and the questions. She did finally feel it moving and paused looked down at the animal. She spent a few seconds staring at it, distracted from the mostly completed puzzle. she knew that Seiji had snakes, so even if Add didn't recognize this one, she didn't see any reason for undue alarm at its presence. She extended a hand, waiting for it to climb up and reach whatever perch it deemed best.

"I would not kill someone simply for annoying me, if that is your query," she said, remaining completely still for Leevi. "There are rules against killing people for a reason. But if I knew I could get away with killing someone, and if it would be more beneficial for society if they were dead, then I may have to consider it. Wouldn't anyone though?" she actually looked away from the snake to its "owner" now. "Given a chance like that? It is the thought puzzle. If you were locked in a room with Hitler and a gun, would you shoot him? Of course you would. Most people would. It's a matter of what causes the least suffering to the greatest amount of people."

She continued holding still with one arm, though her eyes flicked back to the puzzle again. While making sure to keep the extended side of her body mostly still, Add reached over and began snapping pieces into place. You could see the tiger now, with only the corner furthest from Add left.

He was spotted, freezing still as if he would go invisible if he didn’t move long enough, but that didn’t really work out. Not that he minded too much since it was her who was his target, but he preferred to remain a surprise when he wanted to check someone out. He had never met Add before, it was Saphire that had even if it was only a moment. Leevi was a smooth black and white snake and had to look less threatening then Spahire did. Leevi watched and waited, a little surprised that that she extended and arm to him. Leevi didn’t even hesitate for a moment and moves to slide onto that hand, nuzzling his head into it for a moment, flicking his tongue against her skin before sliding fully onto her head up her arm, shifting so he could still watch her work on the puzzle as well, and wrapping his body around his arm. Seiji gave Leevi a look, but didn’t say anything because at least Leevi was not making a move to go down her shirt or anything, yet.

Seiji listened closely as she spoke about how she would not outright kill someone because they annoyed her. That was good to hear, so even still she had logic when it came to such matter. Understanding her explanation of how their were laws in place, so she was not an outright law breaker. She even gave the classical Hitler example and he did agree with her on that matter, because with his crimes, death was the only acceptable punishment and he would be more then helpful to fulfil that, with the help of some deadly poison from his snakes and have the man suffer. Bit morbid there Seiji. He thought to himself, still focused mainly on what she was saying and keeping a close eye on her. His worried did go down now as he understood more so what she was getting at. Still the way she thought and talked was a tad bit worrisome, but he figured it was mostly because she tried to think more logical then emotional. “I understand and I agree.” Seiji said with a small nod, his smile starting to return to his face and he looked down at the puzzle.

Add was almost done with it, the tiger in mostly full view and there was only a small section left in the corner. Leevi liked Add, she kept still and was pretty calm with him while still doing the puzzle. His head looked over to her for a moment, before he loosed his hold around her arm and started to move towards her shoulder, aiming to get closer to her face and get a good look into her eyes. As if he was trying to peer into her soul or her thoughts. “I apologize for Leevi, he is bad at personal space.” Seiji explained, but did not stop his snake since he had not done anything bad.

He understood and he agreed. Good. Add nodded, pleased that he'd at least saw the logic there. This settled her nerves, making the puzzle rather easy, even with the snake. Snakes didn't actually feel that unpleasant. They were smooth to the touch, and so long as you could deal with the scales pressing against your flesh, they weren't that unpleasing to the touch. Add also doubted that Seiji would allow the animal to bite her, and she certainly didn't intend to cause the creature any undo agitation.

"There is no need to apologize," she said, flicking her eyes back to Seiji. "I am assuming that it is his curiosity or he simply wished for a more comfortable perch. As he is not an aggressive creature, I do not overmuch mind his attention," she snapped the remaining pieces into place, setting back to look over the completed puzzle. She frowned and turned to face Seiji. "I do not believe that was too incredibly fast, as I allowed the distractions to get the better of me. It was certainly a diverting and invigorating activity though, perhaps I should consider doing it again."

she then picked up her long forgotten drink, hefting it to examine. It had gone cold, which she further confirmed with a sip. She tapped the mug, wishing that there was a pryokinetic or the like about. She supposed she might be able to ask someone. She twisted to look, pausing for a moment when she realized that she wasn't alone. the snake should've reminded her of that. "My drink is cold," she said by way of explanation, nodding toward it. "It is unpleasant, so i was looking for a means of remedying the situation."

Seiji would not allow his snakes to hurt anyone, unless said person tried to hurt them first, but only if said person started it. He could not blame someone for reacting negatively to one of his snakes slithering up on the. It was foolish when people panicked or freaked out when a creature was on them. If you remained calm you had a higher chance of avoiding getting bit. When you freaked out and flailed about, it cause the animal discomfort which could lead to them biting or attack in some form. Seiji figured Add knew this since she was logical and as well she seemed to be completely fine and Leevi moved on her, making himself comfortable on Add, flicking his tongue and taking in her scent, feeling her heart beat through his body since he was wrapped around her arm. There were many more things that Leevi was able to pick up and learn about Add just from where he was and even before when he was on Seiji, but such details were more so for Seiji to rant about.

"Curiosity." Seiji informed her with a small nod after her comment about why she assumed why Leevi had moved upon her. Leevi was the really curious one out of all his snakes, and it didn’t matter to him what you were or what your gender was. He wanted to basically do a full body search of anyone who was close enough to Seiji for him to go have a little exploration. Seiji's eyes went back to the puzzle as she completed it, checking his watch for how long that had taken from the moment that he realized he should have been timing it. "You don't think so? I'm getting a pretty impressive time even when I factor in the moment before I started keeping track of time." Seiji informed her, since it really was impressive, much faster than he would have gotten. He was not even sure if he would even be halfway done at this point maybe a little close but he never put a puzzle together for speed and more so leisure.

"You can if you like. Or perhaps a different one. I have to go back to my place to get a different one however. Of course you are welcome to come with me if you like." Seiji offered, completely fine with whatever she decided to do, even if she didn’t do the puzzle again. Leevi had moved now once more, or at least when to move so he could get into Add's lap, wanting to attempt to wrap around her waist, as if he was taking measurement. Seiji eyes wondered over the completed puzzle, still pretty amazed that she had gotten it done. Taking out his phone and going to snap a photo of it just in case she wanted to redo it. The sad part being in the end he was going to have to take it apart in order to get it back into the box since he didn’t have the right equipment with him to preserve it; since he didn’t expect to get it done. "Oh, let me buy you a new one. What did you have?" Seiji offered as he already began to stand, waiting for her to tell him. It was the least he could do since it was his fault that he had asked her to go ahead and put the puzzle together which kept her distracted from her drink.

So the snake could be curious. That was interesting enough to log away for later, as it did explain a little about animals. Add hadn't thought that a reptile could express such a complex emotion, but perhaps she was wrong, or perhaps the reptiles that Seiji dealt with had a higher intelligence as a result of their dealing with him. Both were about equally likely, though Add did wonder if she could poke around and determine which was the more likely explanation.

Add kept staring at the snake while Seiji checked his watch and the time. Her lips twitched as he suggested that the time was still impressive. "Perhaps, but I could've done much better," she simply said, figuring that was enough on its own. She felt her lips twitching upward as he mistook her words for a more literal expression. It would make sense to assume that she was, in fact, relying on a more literal sense. He did offer to get another one, even suggesting that she follow him. "Are you attempting to invite me back to your domicile?" she asked, turning to him and quirking a brow. "I believe that is the normal conclusion to take from this social offer..."

She trailed off. She believed because she really didn't have a whole lot of experience to tell her one way or the other. She'd experienced sex, sure, but she didn't really seem to understand the courtship rituals around it. She did suppose that it probably also explained why Seiji was offering to get her another drink, though she supposed it could also have been because he enjoyed her company.

Add prattled off a very precise order, handing him the mug so that he could exchange it. It was entirely likely that the staff wouldn't even charge him that much; they were used to Add, after all. "And if you want to go to your place, you should probably order it to go. Though I would recommend staying here instead. This is a very comfortable position, and the puzzle is not likely to be moved easily."

Seiji would happily tell Add that it was because of his ability that the snakes were able to become advanced in a way. Sure they already had small personalities; it was just buried behind the natural animal instincts. That was true in most cases of animals that were wild and then domesticated or even still wild. Animals did have personalities, just mammals had an easier time showing them as far as Seiji knew. It was hard for him to really understand the whole idea behind it since he was so connected to snakes that he just naturally treated them how he would treat any mammal. Either way his snakes all had a certain way that the thought, behaved, and reacted to certain situations. They still had that normal instinct that snakes had but because they had a bond with Seiji they also had some form of logic and a way to think. They were connected to Seiji's mind after all and he was an intelligent guy and in a way it was as if they were sharing their knowledge back and forth with one another.

"I'm sure you could have. I did distract you after all. I still think it was pretty impressive." Seiji pointed out with a smile and a nod, noticing that Add's lip seemed to be twitching upwards. Was she trying to smile? Seiji wondered, surely she knew how to smile, it was learned at an early age by seeing people around you smile when you were a child. Could she have forgotten or did she grow up in a home when people didn't smile? So many questions and thoughts about just that small little lip twitch. There was a question, one that Seiji being who he was took in the completely innocent way. "I am, if you would like to do more puzzles that is. If not that is fine as well." Seiji responded, missing if she was hinting to something else because Seiji thought Add was like him. Not experienced in the way of being with someone else, a virgin. So his mind didn't even click for a small second that there could have been something else to her words.

Seiji listened closely as Add gave off her order; it was very specific which made his job easier in getting her a new drink. He went to go get the drink, planning on paying even if the staff said that he did not have to, it was his thing. He had to pay. Add's words however made him pause for a moment as he considered. "All very true. So then the question is do you wish to remain here with me and discuss more or reattempt the puzzle? Or do other things?" Seiji asked, as he remained standing, still having the order memorized and would go off to order as soon as Add gave him her preference of location.

Add nodded, further convinced that she could, in fact, have completed the puzzle even faster. She could reattempt it and utterly crush her previous endeavor, which did seem tempting. It would serve no point except to divert her attention and further show off her skills though, which made it sound quite frivolous to Add. Then again, she could easily see this whole encounter as being rather frivolous overall, so it was really a matter of splitting hairs.

Seiji apparently wasn't as aware of social customs as Add, either that or his intentions were entirely above board. Add did some quick mental math, figuring that it was probably a mixture of the two, as that was the most likely probability that presented itself. She preferred staying here, so here they would remain. She told Seiji as much, nodding. Talk or redoing the puzzle could work, or they both had phones to entertain themselves or one another with. That was one advantage of the annoying devices: they had games that could be played with someone rather easily.

"We can remain here for now, unless your home is close, then you could go and fetch another puzzle, should that be something you are interested in," Add glanced around. It wouldn't have surprised her to discover that they did have some. Seiji went off to replace her order for now, and Add settled in, getting more more comfortable still. "we could do both, assuming my earlier suggestion is not viable,' she said, gesturing. "Though a repetition of the puzzle would really just demonstrate my speed a second time and wouldn't serve any purpose besides what amounts to bragging," well, she'd thought it earlier, so it was hardly surprising that it came out now.

Adelaide informed him that she would like to remain here, so here was where they were going to stay. He was honestly fine with either way and hopped that he did not make her feel at all weird when he offered her to come back to his place. Again, he was a very good boy and did not have such intentions, mainly because he did not think such things would be possible for him. With how he was, the snakes, and just the fact that even if he was very good with people and figuring them out, he still seemed to easy knocked off balance at certain comments. Not like he was flirted with often or anything, so he felt like he had a right to be caught by surprise and have a slight melt-down of sorts. There was also the fact that again Seiji thought Add was like him, too busy trying to figure out other things to have time to try sex. Even if it might have been a small mix of Seiji kind of scared since he was still a twenty-five year old virgin.

"I live on the academy grounds, so sort of close. I have a fast car, but I have a problem with not being able to really break the law so I can’t really speed." Seiji said with a small embarrassed chuckle as he rubbed the back of his head. He would just remain here, it was easier that way. Plus he was pretty confident that she could in fact do a puzzle faster and that he would be able to see her put one together at another date. For now they could talk or whatever Add felt up to doing. Seiji just liked to be in other peoples company so was pretty much up for doing whatever the other person wanted to do. Either way, Seiji was getting her drink, making sure he said everything she had told him and that they did take his money, because he was not taking no for an answer or that it was on the house.

He returned after obtaining her drink as well as a second for himself. "Careful, it is hot." Seiji informed her as he carefully set the drink on the small open space on the table for her drink. Leevi was now moving, feeling that this was his chance to get away with something while his master and Add were more or less talking. "Well, it really is your choice. I can watch you put the puzzle together again; we can talk, or just sit here and drink our coffee. I just find myself pleased to be in your company." Seiji said with a smile, going to take a careful sip of his coffee, but froze as he saw Leevi quickly going to make his move. The snake moving to go down into Add's shirt if she did not catch him in time and that her clothing didn't cause too much of a hindrance.

Live on the academy grounds? "I hadn't realized that you could continue living at the Academy. I shall have to look into that in the near future," she said in full sincerity. she liked the idea of returning there. It suited her much better than attempting to fit in elsewhere, especially since the Academy wanted to keep a close eye on her anyway. She made mental plans while Seiji finished getting her drink, only breaking them when social rule dictated that she accept the offered cup.

"I'm aware that it's hot," she replied. She took a light sip of it, enjoying the heat as it warmed its way throughout her body. She paused, sighing and letting it all wash over her. Her eyes closed, but she could still hear Seiji speaking. He laid out various choices, all of which Add considered. Though as he confessed to enjoying her company, she opened her eyes, looking at him, one eyebrow arched.

"Really?" she said, nearly scoffing. "most people find me confusing. But I believe we've discussed that before," she took another sip before settling in. "I would like to finish this drink before it gets too cold. So we can discuss then, and decide if I should redo the puzzle at the end." she took another sip, then looked over at Seiji. "You said you lived at the school. Is there a reason for that? You are working for them?" it was half a question, half a statement, her curiosity and want of that same sort of situation taking over.

"You can and you should. It’s like you basically never have to leave, which works out well for some mutants. Always having a place to call home and not having to pay for all of those extra bills." Seiji pointed out, but he did have enough money to live on his own. He had a very nice care and everything in his room was very nice as well, but he had a lot of jobs and saved a lot of money. His power did allow him to live off anywhere he wanted and he had in his time traveling and working different jobs, but he did feel like he would end up settling down here. Not with a family or anything because Seiji didn't really see that as a possibility for him with how he was. He thought he might make a pretty good dad, but he had a feeling he would never know, and he was okay with that.

"Right sorry. Just wanting to make sure you were going to be okay." Seiji said sounding a little embarrassed and felt slightly bad. He did not mean to insult her intelligence or anything. He just...felt it was a common courteous thing with letting her know that it was hot. It was as if saying that would lessen the chance of her burning herself, but he could not really say his words would affect such an outcome. He blew at his drink a few times, not a fan of burning his tongue at all so was extra careful. He caught the raised eyebrow at his words, and was confused for a moment and even more so when she asked really. He was about to reply back, but Add went on to talk about how people found her confusing, and yes they had talked about it, but Seiji was fine hearing it again. "Well, that is because they don’t take the time to understand you. I think you are pretty cool and really smart. I have had a sort of admiration for you for a while now." Seiji admitted, giving a light embarrassed chuckle as he blushed just a tiny bit.

"Right, I apologize again for distracting you from your coffee with the puzzle and causing you to have to get another." Seiji apologize, bowing his head a little, pushing his hair back, for it to half fall back in place, half stick where it was. He took a careful sip of his coffee, Leevi busy with looking into Add's ear, as if he could get a peek at her brain that way. She asked a question and he gave a nod to her question about him working for them. "I do. I still attend my college classes, but I work as the Side-Effect Specialist at the Academy. So knowing how mutants’ powers affect them and those around them. Figuring out temporary cures, and long term effects of the different mutation. I also like the compare the different DNA stands and see if there is any common links between the DNA strands, what could be the real factor that causes the mutation...and I'm rambling...sorry." Seiji apologized once more as he rubbed his head, taking another sip of his coffee.

Add certainly took all that Seiji had to say into consideration. She had already all but come to her conclusion and decision. She would return to the Academy and request living quarters there, offering her services. It hardly made sense for her to continue seeking college education when it was merely a process of validation, proving that she could jump through hoops. Better that she focus her efforts more toward achieving the type of career she wanted. She sipped at her coffee as she deliberated further. Common courtesy from Seiji, the thought of which just made Add smile a little more. People generally didn't bother to show her it, as she generally didn't bother to show it to them. He seemed intrigued by her though, even complimentary, which Add acknowledged with a slight nod. "Thank you for your kind words. You are quite intelligent yourself,' she paused for a moment, then figured she could add a little more: "and I'm not just saying that because you obviously have excellent taste in conversation partners."

Seiji went on to further prove his intelligence regardless, explaining his situation and what he did. Add felt a tongue tease at her brain, but instead of jerking away, she simply shifted, allowing the snake to gain better access and take a better look at whatever it was that he found interesting within there. It all sounded quite fascinating, so much so that Add had to remind herself to keep sipping at her drink as to avoid a recurrence of it cooling.

"I do not see any reason to apologize," she said, blinking in slight confusion. "You are demonstrating a passion for your work that most people lack, and it sounds like quite interesting work at that. If you do not mind, I would like to consider offering my assistance. Genetics is not precisely math, but probability and the like do factor in, and I find it a decidedly more fascinating use of my gifts than simply being an accountant,' which was precisely what Add debated doing now. They wouldn't turn her down, not with what she could do with numbers. But if she could do this too, perhaps she could have a bigger impact than on someone's bank account.

Seiji gave a chuckle at her thanks and the little comment that she added toward the end of it. "Thank you, it means a lot coming from you. Even if it was just based upon having you as a conversation partner. Since you are pretty cool." Seiji admitted, sort of sounding like a fan boy and he kind of was. She was really smart and attractive, how could he not fan boy a little? He didn't think he was all that smart, just that he used his brain a little bit more than the average person. It was a good and bad thing since he would go on long tangents, rambles, and the like. Plus when you were good at figuring things out, you tended to figure out things about people that you might not really have wanted to know. Either way, he pretty much accepted if people were using him so long as it was not hurting him or someone else. He just wanted to help and he enjoyed it so saw nothing wrong with people not having the intentions that he would hope. However if they planned to kill him for his money or something, well they were going to find themselves full of venom.

Leevi could not actually see her brain but he was picking up on other things, and informing Seiji that Add was not like any other human the snake had come across. So many nerves firing and how she didn't even freak out at the fact that his tongue flicked in her ear. Normally that caused people to twitch really bad or at least freak out. He liked this girl. She was smart like his master and was not showing any fear what so ever with snakes. Leevi moved to slide on down and settle in Add's laps for the moment, curling up, and feeling her warmth. "True, I just don't want to talk someone’s ear off." Seiji said with a chuckle and then was smiling brightly at her offering her assistance. He could not really contain his joy and he rose to his feet and sort of moved to give her an awkward hug.

"I would love to have your assistance! Like you said probability could be a great factor in my studies and it’s always good to have a helping hand on the matter. I'm still young and no expert so I’m bond to make mistakes. More people helping me, especially with someone as logical as you helping me, the less room for error." Seiji pointed out, still elated as he moved to sit back down in his seat and give an apologetic look for the whole hug thing. He was just too happy to have some help on it and even more so from someone that he did look up to. Such a fan boy.

Add shrugged off more of Seiji's compliments. He certainly sounded genuine, but that didn't mean that Add wished to dwell upon what he said. Nor did she allow the snake to bother her that much. Leevi seemed perfectly pleasant, all things considered. he even curled up in her lap in a manner not unlike a kitten or other more "furred" creature. Add absently stroked at his head, wondering if he reacted well to being stroked or touched like those same furred animals.

However, she did react as Seiji grew excited about the prospect of working together. she smiled, albeit tightly, nodding. "Yes, it should be quite an excellent endeavor. I also do not think you need worry overmuch about your age. You cannot be that much younger than myself, and you have a mind bent for such things. This leaves you uniquely qualified. I only help that I might be able to actually assist," she brought her mug up to her lips then, taking another sip, then lowered it, leaving it fairly close to the snake, figuring that Leevi would appreciate the warmth.

"You are still finishing your degree though, correct? Are you hoping to tie your field with your work at the Academy? Perhaps something involving genetics?" that struck Add as being most likely, but she was curious as to what Seiji thought. Perhaps he had another angle in mind...

All of Seiji's snakes did not really behave like that of normal snakes due to their bond with Seiji. He could go into it but since she did not ask he was not, and that was that. Leevi certainly was enjoying that stroking and was perfectly silent and still. Moving only to nuzzle into the hand to show his thanks for her being so kind and gentle with him. "Well I appreciate your future assistance already and know you will be a big help to the understanding of...what we are." Seiji said, not wanting to say mutants out in public for obvious reasons. There may have been a high concentration of mutants in the area, but still not everyone was one so he always kept that in mind whenever he was having a conversation. Sure he would slip from time to time but he figured he did not have to worry about it all that much in a coffee shop. Even less since they were pretty much off to themselves, having their little chat with a completed puzzle on the table, and warm drinks in their hands.

"May I ask how old you are?" Seiji boldly asked, since he felt like it was rude to ask a woman’s age, but he just wanted to make sure his information about her was correct. Plus he wanted to know the age difference between the two of them. Leevi would purr if he could at Add being so kind as to put her warm drink near his body, he felt like he was pretty much in snake heaven at this moment in time. Seiji chuckled a little at the small thought that he received from his snake. "He really likes you." Seiji pointed out, sharing Leevi's thoughts with Add; followed by a small raise of his brow at her questions on his school.

"I am. I started school a bit later while I was busy traveling a bit and doing different jobs. I have a minor in DNA but I actually have more of a major in well easy way for me to put it is testing out the effects on peoples bodies from various drugs and animals. This is why I took the job as Side-Effect specialist since side effects are more of my thing." Seiji admitted since he was not actually doing like research on too in detailed on what caused the mutation per say and more of how the mutations affected the mutant’s body and those around them.
