SLADE ANDERSEN KONRAD
32//MALE//HETEROSEXUAL//METALLIC FORM//PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER//DWAYNE JOHNSON
POWER INFO: Slade possesses the innate ability to enhance his physical abilities through a strange, almost metallic form. At will a dull, black, almost liquid, metallic substance pours from his skin, coating him in a tough, hardened shell. He can still move freely while in this form and it enhances his already impressive physical capabilities far beyond human norms. On the rare occasion he's made use of this form he's known to perform indescribable feats of strength while maintaining a frighteningly agile form. The metallic coating is impervious to small arms and even full assaults with heavy weaponry has proved ultimately futile, though very large calibers can cause injury. He's figured it's best to not test the resiliency of his power on anything larger than that.
Slade's power isn't subtle. It's not one that can be used discreetly in public like many others. While his body is marginally stronger, faster, and tougher than a normal human, he's just as susceptible to drugs, physical damage, and fatigue as anyone else when not making use of his power. Furthermore, while shifting to his metallic form doesn't seem to cause any effects, reverting back to his fleshy self takes a great deal of effort usually leaving him exhausted.
Slade Konrad had always been a quiet, thoughtful individual. Even from a young age he rarely spoke unless the situation warranted it. When you're a six foot two-hundred and twenty pound freshman in high school people have a tendency to listen. The quiet intensity the young man carried into his adult life was borne from an abusive household that featured drug-addled, alcoholic parents. To escape the depression of his home life Slade joined as many sports teams as he could and excelled in them all. Wrestling became his first love and he quickly came to dominate junior leagues. When his powers manifested at 14 he was shipped off to Bellefonte. To this day Slade isn't sure if his parents noticed.
Upon enrollment to the Academy Slade was relieved to have the opportunity to continue distancing himself from his parents and his childhood. He delved into his studies and continued his run as a commanding presence in the sport's arena. It was also while at the academy he began to branch out into other combat sports. For such a quiet, often introverted individual, punching people in the face just came naturally. He graduated Bellefonte without a single negative mark on his record and a more than a few sports achievements that have yet to be surpassed.
Once left to his own devices after graduating in 2000, Slade enlisted in the US Army. His intent was to immediately tackle one of the greatest challenges the US military had to offer: The Ranger Assessment and Selection Program. Suffice to say even without his mutant abilities (which he kept largely hidden), Slade excelled. Upon graduation Slade was placed in the 75th Ranger Regiment was among the first soldiers sent to Afghanistan following the September 11, 2001 attacks. Over the next ten years Slade would see combat on numerous times as both a Ranger, and as a member of the US Army Special Forces, which he transitioned to shortly after his second deployment as a Ranger. When all was said and done, Slade left the Army as a twelve year veteran with a box full of medals, a sterling service record, a bachelor's degree in physical education, a handful of amateur and professional mixed martial arts wins, and more blood on his hands than he'd care to admit.
Yet again Slade found himself on his own. After briefly bouncing around Slade returned to Kalispell, Montana and accepted a position teaching at Bellefonte Academy. Today Slade is seemingly content as the physical education teacher for the Academy. With the blessing of the Academy administration, Slade started a martial arts program to make use of his training in Army Combatives, kick boxing, and grappling. Even among mutants he's a powerful, imposing figure. Despite his brutish appearance he's remarkably well-spoken and amicable. He's still quiet but his time as a teacher seems to have softened him a bit and while no one would ever claim the big man has a heart of gold, he's at least friendly enough to not scare everyone he meets. Slade is also an avid hunter and survivalist. His weekends and vacations are often spent trekking through the Montana wilderness for days on end with little more than what can fit in a small satchel.
Slade is a massive bear of a man standing nearly six and a half feet in height and tipping the scales at around 260. There's very little fat on the man as his brutal training regiment keeps him in peak condition, even as he enters his thirties. His head is kept smoothly, clean shaven and he occasionally sports a beard.
While making use of his power Slade remains the same size, although his weight nearly triples. His skin takes on the look of a dull finished, black metal and his eyes become dimly lit, red dots. On rare occasions when angered, the light has been known to grow darker until they're nothing more than a glossy black within their sockets.
