Aurora rolled her eyes as she snapped her notebook shut, "Great, another trainer..." She grumbled to herself as she walked through the school headed to where she believed was the training rooms. She skimmed through her past trainers in her head, "All the same... No major improvments..." She sighed looking at the floor, she was determined to make this time different, this time, he was going to push her. She smiled at her own thoughts, "Yes, this time, I will get better and stronger." She looked up again and sidesteps quickly, barely missing a kid walking past .
"Hey! Watch it!" He groaned at her.
she eyed the back of him as she mumbled, "Sorry... sheesh.." she said the second part even quieter so he wouldn't hear. Aurora continued towards the training rooms, "What do you think he'll do on the first time?" She starts to fantasize things she could possibly do. Reality quickly hits her and she frowns a bit, "Don't get your hopes up... this is only the first session, just relax and do what you know how to do." She approaches the door slowly, she takes a deep breath then enters, "Mr. LeGrange? I'm here for my training session." She says nervously, under her nervousnes nides excitement and a touch of skeptism.

This file was given to Guy through his phone, and after a quick read through, he could certainly understand why. A wind power of some kind, quite interesting, that. Apparently a bit pushy in several ways too, if the file as to be believed. Guy skimmed through it, humming to himself. He sat on a chair in the middle of the training room, swinging his legs. Said chair had been bolted to the floor, because Guy knew better. He'd had several items in various piles throughout the room. One pile contained what looked like feathers that practically stirred even in the mostly breeze-free room. A few other piles were clearly just moving up the weight limit: from paper to sheets of various steel that had clearly been especially formed. One section of the wall had various targets that would flip out, but they lay still and inactive for the moment.
"Greetings Miss Holiday," said Guy without looking up from his flipping. "I have to admit, it's rather nice to have a student show up," he paused and shifted the phone, clearly studying the time, "early, actually, that's impressive. You'd be surprised how very many students show up late if at all." he looked up, studying her closely. You could tell a lot about how prepared and ready a student was by how they dressed. Guy gave away nothing, keeping his face stoic. "So what is it that you do again?" he asked, trying to sound completely bored with the whole situation.

Aurora scoffed, "Late for training?" She wondered, not a chance. She then shifted her weight from one side to the other as she looked around the room, "I'm an Air Manipulator." She stated flatly, a hint of anger swelled inside her, 'Is he already bored with me??' She tried her best to continue smiling, at least she looked that part. Aurora had worn a black tank top and a pair of shorts. Feathers??' She wondered to herself, trying not to stare at them. 'I closed the door and those things moved...' Her eyes shifted from pile to pile. She began to smile a bit, maybe this was actually going to do something for her. After taking in her environment, she looked at Mr. LeGrange, she began to study him, everything about him from his tone of voice to his posture, to even his eye contact, 'bored' was that only thing she could seem to come up with, but she still felt that time time, training would be different.. She finally spoke up again after clearing her voice, she tried to sound as confident as possible, "I can manipulate the air around me, and if you're already getting bored, well, I hope I can change that soon."

Oh look, anger, that was new. Guy was certainly not used to having teenagers angry at him when they were training their powers. However shall he deal with that most surprising turn of events. He snorted and flipped through his phone some more. There were all these little details there, bits and pieces. Of course, Guy also knew that it looked like he was fiddling with his phone instead of paying attention to his student; sometimes he actually did just that, usually involving Angry Birds or, more recently, Flappy Bird.
"Bored?" repeated Guy, looking up at Aurora, "why would I be bored? Obviously I'm going to be sitting in this bolted chair while you blow objects around the room. Actually, we might just have a session where you stand there and fan me with a nice, cool breeze. I haven't had one of those in a while," Guy flicked his phone, his fingers moving fast, switching off the file and instead purposefully pulling up Angry Birds, mostly because the phone would make truly obnoxious noises. "I could sit here and play Angry Birds while we do it!" He wiggled the phone at her, smiling broadly.

Aurora was speechless, 'A personal fan?!' She gawked a bit aloud. She had never been really angry while training, usually she only felt boredom, It took everything possible to keep her jaw from dropping, 'What the hell? Is he really playing Angry Brids?' she frowned, "I'll show you and angry bird..." she mumbled, and with that, she flicked her wrist quickly in his direction, if she were in the feathers place. A surge if air shot the feathers at him covering him in the feathers blocking out his 'game' momentarily. She looked at him, waiting for his next move, she glanced at the piles of items again, 'Maybe bricks would be a more effective way of getting his attention?' she frowned, then she moved to a more neutral look, "Would you like to be buried in bricks?" she asked him, irritated a bit, she didn't even know if she could move bricks but it was worth asking. He was clearly getting to her and she did not like it one bit.
A breeze swept around the top of the room as if it were waiting a command, "Would you just get off your stupid phone for one moment?" she said through gritted teeth, she was done with his bullshit, she came here to train, not get made a mockery of. A few of the feathers got caught in the slow moving current and wafted around the room. With her most calm voice possible at this given time, she spoke up, "Mr. LeGrange, I am here to train, not to be someone's personal fan. Can you, train me, please." She said more asking him to do it than a question, she believed he had the skills, but what made her feel this way? It seemed as though Aurora was just another mutant that he could toy with.

Ah, the temper tantrum. Guy was used to this, almost too used to it. His face did not change expression while Aurora raged. He simply sat calmly, letting her spin her feathers. He couldn't see Aurora, but he didn't need to see her, not when he could feel the wind going. This likely meant, as far as he was concerned, that her power had at least some link to her emotions, or that she was comfortable enough lashing out with her powers in a moment of emotion. He was, however, somewhat concerned when she mentioned bricks. Something told him that she'd probably exhaust herself before she really hurt him, but he just knew that bricks really hurt and that he didn't fancy having to explain to Ceanna or Jason that all those bruises came from a girl.
Get off his phone; like that was going to actually make him do it. He wasn't sure how to take her raging, but he did appreciate the reason behind it. Passion was always good, especially the drive to get better. however, he also knew that they needed to settle a few things. He began by focusing in, focusing in hard on the girl, and then slowly moved his will, settling his power on her. He'd suppress her down enough to dim the breeze, making sure to give her at least a bit. Given her will, she might even be able to break it, though it would take a lot of work.
"Well, if you're going to be so insistent on it, why don't you go ahead and move up to the paper?" asked Guy. He shifted to put his phone into his pocket, pausing for a moment to blow a feather out of his mouth. He also stepped down from the chair to get a better look at the papers. Of course, given how much he was suppressing Aurora's powers, he'd be surprised if she could do more than flutter them, but who knows: she was quite willful and very skilled for her age.

Aurora grunted a bit, she hadn't noticed that the breeze had died down for no apparent reason. All it took was a thought of it happening and a flick of her hand, at least on a usual day. It's paper, how much harder could it be? she thought to herself as the top piece of paper shifted ever so slightly. She tried again, focusing on the paper blowing across the room. She even made a swiping motion with her arms as if she were behind the paper, throwing it around the room. The top page or two slid to the bottom of the pile. She grew frustrated and worried, questions whirred around like a tornado inside her own head, Can ones' powers just stop? Did I lose my powers? Am I tired already? Impossible, she thought. All I've done was blow some feathers around. Try, try again. she reasoned. She took a deep breath this time, it was clear that she was struggling now. Closing her eyes, she attempted to clear her mind of all other thoughts and focused on the papers. She willed the wind to flow straight through the pile and carry the paper around the training room. She swept her arms across her body once more, the paper pile lifted up and moved a few inches, a few unlucky papers getting caught in the gentle breeze. She frown and furrowed her brow, "I'm sorry sir, it seems I am unable to move the paper." she said in defeat. She stared at the pile of paper, she was very upset but she tried not to show it, she had already blown feathers at him in all her anger, just moments ago. I can't believe I can't even move a lame pile of papers... It seemed as though today just wasn't her day.
She began to make a mental checklist of all the things she needed to do, Work on moving paper with the air, to watch her temper, and eventually apologize, this was her trainer after all. As soon as she finished her tasklist, she looked at the paper again, maybe she had been going about it all wrong, Maybe the paper wasn't even supposed to move? "What's this trick?" she assumed. "Am I supposed to even move them with my powers?" She proceeded to walk over to the pile of paper, she knelt down, picked up the paper and threw them up, "There, I moved the stupid paper." she said, frustrated that her power seemed to not want to cooperate with her today, this kind of stuff happened to had happened to her before.

"Well, you certainly do have a temper, don't you?" asked Guy after watching his student move and picked up the paper, flinging it a little. He raised his eyebrows and watched as the papers fluttered down around her. "Did that make you feel better? I certainly hope so, seeing as you seem a little confused here: I'm not your babysitter. I'm not here to watch you while you throw temper tantrums and stamp your cute little feet. Though I do admire your ability to think outside the box."
Guy walked over to the papers, nudging them with his feet. "But if I wanted them to be thrown, I probably would have done it myself, or, well, I guess I could have assigned a bunch of students to do it for detention, but it definitely would not have been something I would have asked you for training. Now, cool your shit, take a few deep breaths and stop to think for a moment: you were just blowing all this stuff about when you were throwing your little tantrum a few seconds ago, yes? So what could have changed between then and now? You're obviously not tired. There's obviously still wind in here, or else I'd be gasping and you'd be grinning because I'd have shut up. So stop and think, dammit."
And Guy crossed his arms over his chest, raising his eyebrows challengingly, waiting for his new student to do exactly that.

She rolled her eyes, when he started talking about her temper. That always seemed to happen when she used her powers, "Yeah, I get a little moody." She shrugged when he asked her if throwing the paper made her fell better, honestly it didn't at all, she was too frustrated that her powers 'weren't working'.
She did as she was told, she took a few deep breaths and really thought about what had changed since she blew the feathers around, the only significant thing being that she had settled down. Were her powers really the dependent on her being angry? What that the key? To be angry when she wanted to use her powers? No, not anger itself, she reasoned. Emotions. Yes, that had to be it. she opened her eyes, "I calmed down. That's what is different." Something was different about her now, her will was stronger now. She was determined to move the paper, even if it took her all day. She envisioned the paper flying across on the room, she stared at the paper.
She raised her arms, and in a swift motion she threw them sideways. Please just move! she willed, and the paper moved. She frowned, sure it moved but that wasn't enough for her. She poised her arms again, "Fly.." she said softly, she threw her arms sideways in a sweeping motion, all while imagining the paper fluttering about. The paper didn't exactly fly everywhere as she had hoped but most of the paper swept gracefully across the ground. It's progress. she turned to the trainer and looked at him smugly, "Consider the paper officially moved."
He was probably going to make her do it again, but she wouldn't mind. It was lesson one and she had already learned something new. She was excited for herself, she was excited that she actually had a trainer that knew what he was doing, at least to some extent. She looked at him curiously, she didn't know much about her trainer, except for the obvious stuff. She wanted to know what his power was. She chewed on her lip but held the question, No, that shouldn't matter. she reasoned. She remained quiet and waited for further instructions.

Guy waved off the moody comment. "You're in a stressful situation; you're going to get moody," he said, almost flippant. He was curious as to how she was focusing and working. She was focused, eerily so for someone so young. That happened sometimes, especially with the students who were quite determined to prove themselves. It was incredibly rare that a student could manage much more than the weakest variation of their power while under Guy's focus, but it did happen, and it always happened in cases like this, when the student had paused, taken stock of her situation, and focused most of her will and attention.
Slight movement, and Guy could almost feel her pushing against him. it was sort of like holding the bridle to a horse that wanted to gallop away. The trick was that Guy was a professional rider and this particular horse hadn't been ridden before. Still, he could feel her bucking, moving against him. she managed to do what she wanted though, to direct things. Guy watched the paper flutter across the floor, moving, and he had to be at least a little impressed with her having managed even that much.
"Not bad, still pathetic when you consider that you just dumped a load of feathers on me a few moments ago," he said, walking over and nudging one of the bits of paper with his foot. "Also a little surprising for someone who threatened to bury me in bricks a few minutes ago. Could you actually do that or was that just a lot of hot air,' and he grinned, obviously quite pleased with his little joke. He also made sure to latch his focus upon her, keeping her wild abilities in check. No way was she managing to move bricks, not with her level of ability. Guy wouldn't have been surprised if she managed to blow some papers at him though; she was proving quite willful and determined, and that went a long way.

She rolled her eyes when he called how much she moved the papers pathetic, in reality it was pretty pathetic, even she thought that, but she couldn't let her Mr. LeGrange know she thought but was bad too. She hoped he wouldn't bring up her threats from earlier... And great, he mentioned her threats... He managed to mention them right after she thought about it. Oh my god, he can read minds?! she practically squealed with excitement, she had just guessed his powers, at least she thought she had.
She was about to start ignoring him until he made a joke about her powers. This, she was not happy about, she let out a chuckle, "Heh-heh, did you uh, did you really just do that?" She sighed, No, I'm not going to get mad again. That's what he wants, I will not get mad that easily this time. She dismissed the question/answer quickly after with a wave, "Nevermind, I don't care. Did I really say I'd burry you in bricks?" she smiled and tapped her chin, "I guess that was me wasn't it?!" she said sarcastically, she obviously knew she had said tha "Alright, so maybe it was just cause I was a tiny bit upset, just cause I can't do it now, doesn't mean I won't do it later." She smirked, proud of what she just said. She wet her lips, "So! What do I get to do next?" she asked genuinely curious.

Guy just smirked as Aurora called him out on his little joke. He was a teacher, a middle-aged one at that, bad jokes were part of the territory. He had, of course, done it mostly to see how she would react to it. She questioned his repetition, and Guy just responded by arching his brows. She knew darn well that she'd made the threat; probably knew that she'd meant it at the time too. Next came that confession of emotional response, which didn't really make Guy feel any better. Especially when she mentioned that she might do it later.
"You've got some balls, girl," he said, meaning it as an obvious joke. "But I doubt you're going to be dumping bricks on me, not any time soon. You keep letting your emotions get the better of you, which is fine in some situations. Not so fine when you should be using your power, especially a power like yours. You have to control it, not the other way around," he paused to let that sink in, his arms slightly raised as if he could somehow shove the importance of the statement into Aurora. He lowered them, looking at her expectantly. "My power allows me to suppress the powers of others," he informed her, a little disappointed that she hadn't figured that out for herself. "Which means that as long as I'm paying attention, you're not likely to manage that," he tilted his head slightly toward the bricks.
Then he sighed, crossing his arms. "Eventually we'll see about you being able to break free. You're already leaking, which is impressive. Usually takes people a year or two before they get that far. I'm guessing it's because you're a pain in the ass." Guy lifted his power off Aurora, giving her back her full power. He then looked over to the various stacks. 'Full powered, how much wind so you think you could manage?"

"Don't worry, you'll get your bricks eventually, just give it some time." she said as serious as possible. Aurora would never be able to actually do that, well, she wouldn't be able to in a sense that she would feel bad if she buried him in bricks, even if he annoyed her to no end. Her trainer might be a pain, but he was a good kind a pain, one that made her work to achieve stuff. She enjoyed that, but once again, unless he could read minds, he would never be told that she enjoyed being trained by him. All in good time sir, all in good time... she thought to herself, she definitely wouldn't be able to do it this time. She was already growing tired, a headache starting to form already as well, she was trying really hard to move the papers, and being suppressed like that made it nearly impossible for her.
"I can't help it.." she mumbled grouchily. "I get moody when I use my powers, it's not like I want to be emotional, that's just the way it is for me at the moment. So unless you can find a way to bypass that, my emotions will probably always play a role in how affective my powers are." she admitted. This was the truth, at least she thought it was, she thought that using her powers just made her moody, maybe It was just who Aurora was and her powers didn't actually affect Is she was moody. She wasn't sure of the honest truth, she just went on blaming her powers.
Aurora frowned a lot on the inside, "Power suppression... Oh." she said slightly embarrassed she was unable to guess correctly, "Bummer, and here I was, thinking that you could read minds." she let out a short laugh. Power suppression, huh? That's going to be annoying as all hell. She made a sad face, seemingly mocking him, "Aw, is that it? Just a pain in the ass? If there's a way to become a bigger pain, I'm all ears." she said with a bit of a chuckle.
"How much? As much as is availible, I don't know how strong it would be though, never went all out. This one time I tried to make a whirlwind really far away, I was in bed for a week. But I have also never really had it measured, speed wise." she shrugged, I hope that didn't sound as awkward as it felt saying it. Eh, grammar smammer. "I could give something a shot though, just ask and I shall do my best." she gave a slight courtesy.

Moody: Guy made a note of that. It sounded very much like a side effect, and one that wasn't good for something like this. It also meant that they'd actually have to work on emotional training at some point, which was Guy's least favorite kind of training. It generally meant having to spend at least an hour putting up with a teenage girl who'd like nothing so much as to rip his throat out and spit down the gaping wound.
"Read minds? Sorry, I just read teenagers," drawled Guy, raising his eyebrows. Years of working with teenagers had given him an uncanny knack for understanding what they were thinking. He had once gone a few sessions with a student thinking that he somehow possessed both that ability and a power suppressing one. He was almost tempted to do it again now, but decided to just pull back a little. Aurora already was, well, a pain in the ass, and not in a way that Guy was certain would work to her benefit. Time would tell on that one.
And she could move most of the air in an area? Guy raised his brows at that. Powers came in all sorts of varying powers, but it really sounded like Aurora had gotten an exceptionally powerful one. That did happen from time to time, and Guy was almost happy that he at least got to help shape it. "How about you pick whatever pile you're most pissed at and, oh, I don't know, throw some wind at it?" asked Guy gesturing toward the various piles. It was, as always, another little test. See what she thought of her ability, what she'd pick if given a choice, and so forth.
Post by Aurora Holiday on Mar 31, 2014 1:34:50 GMT -6
Aurora skimmed over the various piles of items, from lightest to heaviest, her gaze lingered on the heaviest pile before she brought herself to her senses, she went back through the piles, "Feathers, paper, sticks, bricks, metal stuff..." she said as a rough outline, sure there were specific stuff in between those, but those were the categories. She finally decided for the heaviest pile, some sort of mental, steel perhaps, she didn't know, nor did she really care. Aurora took a few moments to get her bearings together, she evened out her breathing, This will be interesting... Go big or go home. Right? No pain, no gain. Right? She proceeded to think of other motivational quotes that she had heard others say. She closed her eyes, she opened them, the wind had picked up a bit, "Alrighty then, here goes nothing..." she said, a bit louder than a mumble.
Aurora had never done something like this before, she wasn't actually sure if she could bend all of the air around her, but now seemed like one hell if a time to figure it out. Spots were already forming in the corners of her bison as she mumbled one last motivational quote before she lifted her arms up. She held them almost directly above her for a moment, as if she was pooling the air there. She swept her hands down and backwards, using everything she could muster, she pictured the mental like the pins in a bowling alley, the air being her ball. After making the sweeping motion, her head seemed to explode, spots blurred her vision, she felt as the ball of air began to move.
Thud
She fell over onto the ground, she clumsily managed to put out an arm to brace her fall, her arm hurt, she might have just broken that, boy would that out a wrench in her powers. Her head was pounding, seemingly screaming 'Why?!' She lay in the cold training room floor. Something warm rolled down her cheek, Am I bleeding? she thought randomly, she had completely forgotten she just tried to knock something over. Well that was definitely interesting... she said with amusement, she blinked a few times, with each blink her visions fading even faster, she closed her eyes. In her last moment of consciousness, she thought she could hear something taping against the ground. How sincere for Mr. LeGrange to check on me. she thought with a chuckle, No, surely he wasn't all as bad as he came off to be, he could probably be a pretty good guy, I bet... her thoughts trailed of to nothingness, she had officially passed out, even though she didn't do much, she pushed herself too hard. Typical Aurora, she always wanted to push her body/powers, even if she knew she couldn't do it. This is simply what she gets for being too ignorant.
