This was not a date. Zoe had to keep reminding herself of that. It didn't matter that she'd texted Devyn, asking the other girl to "go out" for coffee, while also promising her the picture she'd asked for that one time. Just thinking about their movie/cuddle session could send Zoe into blushes, and she knew for a fact that Devyn would pounce on that. Devyn had certainly pounced on the fact that Zoe had actually done the suggesting this time.
But back to this not being a date. Zoe had to tell this to herself, even after she'd spent hours getting ready. Her hair, blissfully, no longer took as long as it had when she'd worn it longer, but makeup still took plenty of time. Everything had to be perfect. Just the right amount of foundation, just the right amount of mascara, just a hint of lipstick that had to be just the right shade of pink. A hint of blush, curled eyelashes; Zoe went all out, proving that she actually knew how to use the massive amount of makeup she hid in her darkroom/bathroom. Then, she'd had to spent hours picking out an outfit that was just the right mixture of cute, pretty, and flirty. Zoe's wardrobe options were always limited, what with her needing to cover herself. Still, she thought that the beret was cute. She'd opted for a blue knit coat that hugged her slim frame well. It also did well at covering a pretty, black, longsleeved shirt with black lining. Said blouse covered most of Zoe, leaving her neck open (because this was flirtatious for Zoe). The gloves she'd opted for were her most expensive, as was the cute skirt she wore. The leggings were standard, as were the shoes, mostly because all of Zoe's best shoes were still at her parents' house.
She still had a camera, of course, though not her larger, standard issue one. she'd opted for a smaller disposable, which she'd tucked into a pocket. And then she'd arrived at the coffee shop early. And fidgeted, and kept checking her phone to see if Devyn had sent texts, and mostly convincing herself that it wasn't a date, because there was no way that Devyn would want to date her, and even if she did, Zoe couldn't do that to Devyn, because Devyn needed physical contact and Zoe couldn't give her that. So she'd just dressed up in her prettiest, cutest attire, made herself as pretty as possible, invited the other girl out to coffee, made certain to bring a camera, because...
...because to hang out, obviously. "It's not a date," Zoe mumbled under her breath, biting her lip and trying hard not to make any further noises.
