POWER INFO:
Shapeshifting
Elise has the ability to shapeshift into large cats (Tigers, lions, panthers, lynx, etc). She can transform her entire body but also parts of it, such as growing ears, claws, fangs. She reshapes her genetic and cellular structure and painfully shapeshifts into whatever large cat form of her choice. She can manipulate her form at will, but sometimes, especially if her emotions get out of control, like say, she enters a stressful situation where she becomes incredibly frustrated or scared, her body will naturally transform itself as a way to protect the host.
While in cat-form, Elise can encounter issues with two personalities fighting over control. The human and the beast. Both are very dominant, and the human part of her has to be on constant guard to not let the animal instincts take over. If she stays in the same form for too long, the beast will gradually take over the human instincts and she will no longer be in control of her actions.
The transformation itself is incredible painful as Elise can feel each bone and muscle break, move and change. The transformation can take from a few minutes to several hours, all depending on the situation and the stress level Elise is feeling. She has to have seen the animals, either from a picture, television or in real life to be able to change into it. She can choose the color of the shift (White tiger, red tiger, etc) but characteristics such as eye color, birthmarks and scars usually shows up on the shifted form as well.
However, Elise cannot decide what gender, blood type or DNA the form she takes on has, as these are unchangeable and will be whatever it is she has in her human form.
Limitations and Side-Effects:
- Elise will transform back into a human when unconscious
- She must have seen (Or sometimes actually touched) the animal she wishes to transform into
- The length of the transformation varies, all depending on her stamina and how well rested she is
- The transformation is painful, as she can feel each bone and muscle in her body change. This often leads to stiff/aching muscles and body parts
- Elise retains characteristics of her human form while taking on another, such as eye color, birthmarks, etc
- For Elise to keep her human side as the dominant one, it takes a lot of struggle for her to not lose to the beast. Especially when in a stressful situation while being in form, the cat-like instincts might take control
- Elise is not able to change the genetics even while in form. This means she cannot change her sex, blood type or DNA coding
- If she stays too long in a shapeshift form, she will gradually lose herself to the beast and act as if she's never been human
- Headaches and migraines are something she has to struggle with on a weekly basis
- Dizziness, lack of sleep and anger issues are also some of the side-effects
Felicity Marie Constantinova Draganov-Dobreva (Now Elise Draganov) was born to Helena Marie Dobreva-Draganov and Boris Martin Draganov in Bulgaria a cold winter evening, February 1st, 1992. Her father was part of the Bulgarian mob and at a young age, he met the beautiful singer Helena Dobreva. They quickly fell in love and as a result, Helena got pregnant with Felicity. Helena wanted something else for her daughter, besides the life of the mob and when their daughter turned three, they fled the country and moved to America.
Helena couldn't continue her work as an artist as their family had to lay low in case the Bulgarian mob would sniff them out, so the first years of Elise's life, after moving to America was spent moving from one state to another. They never settled in one place long enough for Elise to make any friends, so the girl was left playing with nothing but herself and her imagination.
When Elise was seven, her mother got sick with cancer, but due to the constant moving and running away, Elise's parents could not afford the medical bills or the treatment, and a year later, Helena died. This drove Boris into the game of dealers, drugs and debts once more, and as a few months passed, Boris had turned into an alcoholic and no longer had money to raise his daughter.
Elise was then sent from foster home to foster home, once again being thrown into the big bad world without any security. The foster families accused her of being troublesome and too much to handle, and no one seemed to be able to take proper care of the girl, considering everything she had been through, so when Elise turned twelve, she was sent back to Bulgaria to live with her grandparents (Helena's parents). After arriving to Bulgaria again, the girl settled nicely with her remaining family, but times were tough, and her family once more set their route west and back to America.
Elise's childhood was an endless road of travelling back and forth, never finding a place to call home. She didn't mind it too much, though, since she finally had a steady family who knew how to deal with her. She tried her best to stay positive and look at the bright side of life, but what the girl had not expected was when she turned fourteen and ended up growing claws, fangs and a pair of ears. Elise was one week after her first incident sent to Bellefonte Academy and once more the girl had to leave her family behind and relocate.
But her years at the academy wasn't all bad. She managed to get a few friends, experience things teenagers should and live a more or less normal life. She experienced a safer environment for her to grow up, and graduated with good grades and a smile on her face. After graduation, Elise received her inheritance from the death of her grandparents on her father's side and that's when she decided to save up for her own club.
Now, 19 years after leaving Bulgaria for the first time, Elise owns her own club called Sin City along with her friend. She also sings and performs, just like her mother used to do. She has put her past behind her and is still as positive, bubbly and cheerful as ever. She has no contact with her father and only speaks to her grandparents on important events (Christmas, birthdays, etc). She has taken control of her life and has sworn to make a difference to the world, one way or another.
''Felicity?'', the crackled voice sounded from the other end of the phone. ''Yes, yes, I'm still here.'', Elise said with a sigh and pursed her lips. She ran her hand through her black hair and leaned her foot over the table as she rocked her chair back and forth. ''Happy birthday, love!'', the voice crackled again, sounding a little happier this time. ''Thank you, baba. How's dyado?'' Her grandparents didn't call as much anymore. Elise took it as a sign that they were finally put to ease. She was okay now. She had been okay for quite some time, but the way they always fussed about her... Well, it was sort of nice to have someone who cared that much. Elise loved her mother's parents to death. She didn't know where she'd been without them. ''Oh, he's fine. He's out in the shed looking for the shovel. We almost got snowed in last night.'', her grandmother chuckled. Elise smiled and closed her eyes, leaning her head backwards. ''Lipsvash mi.'', she whispered. The other end of the phone got silent for a few seconds, before a slow sigh sounded. ''Lyubimata mi dete ... Nie ti mi lipsvash . No ti si dobre sega, i tova e vsichko , koeto ima znachenie za nas.'' Yes, Elise loved them more than words could describe, ''I love you, baba.'' She really did. ''And we you.''
Elise hung up the phone and placed it gently on the table, re-opening her eyes again as her feet hit the floor. She leaned forward and rested her jaw against the back of her hand, a faint sigh escaping her lips. Then the familiar engine sound came from outside and within a second, the black haired girl jumped out of the chair and happily tripped towards the door. She reached her hand out for the cold handle and opened the door a huge, sheepish grin plastered on her face and her eyes lit up. ''Man, aren't you a slow fucker.'', she shot at the person standing outside with glee. But before she gave the man a chance to respond, Elise jumped backwards, turned around and skipped back into the living room. ''I've been waiting all day on you! Dude, I'm so hungry, did ya bring me any food? Did ya?'' There was no response, but that was normal. She was used to being ignored like that and quite frankly, she preferred it. The silence was welcome.
Well, apart from her own voice or her blasting music anyways. Which she turned on now, full volume and the walls were shaking; Perfect. Elise stood in the middle of the room, wearing nothing but a black shirt and a pair of yellow shorts, jumping up and down, moving to the music and living in her own fantasy world. Music had always been her escape. She loved music. That's why she had followed in her mother's footsteps and become and artist of her own. She was so proud of what her mother had accomplished even if she had to give it up oh so early.
But then again, her mother had given it up so her daughter could get a better life. And she had succeeded in that. Elise was happy. Elise had a life of her own now, and she didn't regret a single choice she had made. She was sure her mother would have been proud. Maybe her father too.
Elise wasn't really mad at her dad. If anything, she understood why he had ended up the way he had. Loving someone so much, so strongly... Elise could only imagine how that must have felt to lose someone like that. But she didn't want any contact with him either. Not until he straightened out his life and fixed his mistakes. She had no interest in babysitting a middle aged man and taking care of his debt for him. Nope, that was something the old geezer had to fix on his own. She wasn't going to do it for him. But, she was going to be there when he did. She had made sure he knew that. That she was still alive and that she was all right. But she didn't want to hear a single word from him until he got everything straight. She had followed him for quite some time now. Always making sure he was OK and that he was still alive.
She owed him that much. She could be more of a protective safety network in case something really bad went down, but she didn't want him to know that. This was something he had to do on his own, without her help and without her money.
Elise turned around to face the person who had entered earlier. ''Where's my food, asshole?'', she said with a smirk and leapt forward, curling her arms and feet around his muscular body. ''I'm HUNGARY!''
Matthew West - Family Tree
You didn't ask for this
Nobody ever would
Caught in the middle of this dysfunction
It's your sad reality
It's your messed up family tree
And all you're left with all these questions
Are you gonna be like your father was and his father was?
Do you have to carry what they've handed down?
No, this is not your legacy
This is not your destiny
Yesterday does not define you
No, this is not your legacy
This is not your meant to be
I can break the chains that bind you
I have a dream for you
It's better than where you've been
It's bigger than your imagination
You're gonna find real love
And you're gonna hold your kids
You'll change the course of generations
And just like the seasons change
Winter into spring
You're bringing new life to your family tree now
Yes you are
You are
You are loved
