The day in the McCarthy brother’s household started in typical fashion…
“I’M TELLING YOU TAYLOR, JUST HIT ME IN THE FACE WITH THE BAT”, Jack said pacing back and forward in their living room after just handing his brother his prized possession, his wooden bat. Oh bat, Brothers might abandon me him to play soldiers, the girl he loved might break his heart in two, but his bat will surely never leave him, ok. So sure, Jack was in…..a weird place these last few days…or weeks, but he thought he was making real progress out of his funk…
Which is why Jack was telling his brother to hit him over the head with his weapon of choice.
“Ok, look I’m telling ya. It’s ok. I’ve invented a full proof method to blocking out pain,. I can go into this medtative state and just...block it out...Watch it’s amazing. Seriously. Hit me. Hit me, it’s going to be amazing. Watch, we keep training like this and I can start boxing training no sweat. You can be my Mick

He could hear his nephew's shouting through the door and it brought a slightly amused smile to his face. Ah, he'd missed this. The only part of his family Jamie could claim that he truly cared for. His brother was a tool, but at least he'd left quite the interesting offspring behind, which Jamie had come to realize, he quite enjoyed being around.
Well, that and he liked to think of himself as quite the successful father figure for his nephew.
Tracking the boy down had been easy enough. People seemed to know exactly who this Jack McCarthy were. Good, the boy had made a name for himself.
Knocking on the door three times, Jamie called out, "Delivery for one Jack McCarthy."

Taylor was really not in the mood for this. He'd asked his brother to stay with him out of the goodness of his heart. He really thought the younger McCarthy could use some time to get away, a place he could stay that wouldn't remind him of his ex-girlfriend or anything else in his life that had caused him grief. Taylor also had to admit he liked the idea of living with his brother. It'd been years since he'd been around any sort of family he actually liked and he truly hoped living together would result in the two of them looking out for each other and, ultimately, bring the brothers closer.
What Taylor did not expect was how insufferably annoying his younger brother was.
"Oh my god!" Taylor's head tilted back and he stared up at the ceiling as he made the exclamation mid-Jack rant. "Jesus Christ, Jack!" He leaned forward to finally look at his brother in hopes that he could get him to shut up. The knock at the door brought about a short pause but it was a welcome reprieve. "You'd give Saint Monica a fucking headache!" He shot back at Jack as he got to his feet and crossed the living room toward the door. "All you do is sit there sobbing like a little bitch with a skinned knee." Taylor shouted as he reached for the door. "Stop acting like such a fucking pussy!" And with that Taylor yanked open the door with a scowl on his face. His words came out, dripping with vitriol and frustration, well before he'd even bothered to get a look at who was on the other side. "What the fuck do you want?"

Ok, you know what? That’s just rude. Here Jack was trying to bond with his estranged brother, wanted them to do something together for once as a duo, as brothers and that was to train Jack up for his future boxing career which was SURE to come around once he actually grew a pair and started smacking around Jack. so he can start getting all rocky, but oohhh hh nooo. Once again Taylor just HAD to be a bitch like always didn’t he? . He always just had to be a wet blanket. “
Jack kept bouncing on his feet over and over again like he was Mike Tyson hoping that a blow was about to come...but all he got was, “Surprise surprise” more bitching
“OH. SO NOW YOU DON’T WANT TO HIT ME!!” Jack cried after his brother once he went to get the door “Since when are you NOT trying to beat me up?! You know what you’re just a bitch..” Jack hung his head in resignation going to move away take the mature route and not let Taylor’s words get to hi-
Stop acting like such a fucking pussy
“Ahhhh!” Jack screeched as he rushed the front door and jumped on his brother’s back wrapping his arms around his neck not paying attention to the man at the front door “YEAHHH WHOSE A PUSSY NOW HUH?! HUH?!! WOOO! I’M COMING AT YA LIKE A SPIDER MONKEY!”

The moment the door opened in front of him, Jamie paid little attention to the unfamiliar boy standing there, nor did he pay much attention to his, well, rude manner of greeting someone. Instead, Jamie flipped a one dollar bill from his pocket and tucked it into the collar of the boy's shirt. "There you go, laddie. For your trouble."
He then pushed his way through the door and past the boy just in time to avoid being hit by the cannon ball that was his dear nephew. As he heard Jack shout rubbish and swearwords, Jamie took the moment to look around the apartment. It was, well...
"I thought we talked about this, Jack," he said calmly, his Irish accent thick as he turned to face the boys. "If you want to insult someone, you don't call them monkeys. Not unless they're hairy or have tails." He examined the other boy, before he continued. "You could start by aiming at this boy's terrible excuse for an Irish accent."

A single brow quirked at the stranger on the other side of the door. Taylor didn't quite know what to make of him, even though it was apparent he was probably going to have to knock this jackass's teeth down his throat. Taylor's lips parted to unleash a torrent of curses and insults but the words never made it to the open air. Jack slammed into him and sent him stumbling forward, letting loose with and entirely different set of curses now directed toward his overly violent brother.
"GOD-FUCKING-DAMMIT JACK!" Taylor damn near exploded the very instant Jack's arms wrapped around his neck. If Jack had any clue how to fight or grapple Taylor would have been in trouble from the surprise attack. Thankfully, Jack's form wasn't the stuff that would be taught in Gracie Dojo's around the world and Taylor knew a thing or two about controlled violence. With a quick jerk of his body, Taylor shifted his weight forward and crouched in an attempt to pull Jack off balance while his arm snapped out behind him, bringing his balled fist into Jack's groin.
Taylor let out a sharp exhale of breath as the arm fell from around his neck and he stepped away, stood straight and turned to face his brother. "The fucking hell!?" He shouted rubbing the spot on his neck that had already gotten red from the grapple. "Are you fucking mental? What the fuck's wrong with you?" He started berating his brother, now utterly oblivious to the presence of the stranger. "I'm trying to help you out and you give me this shit." He threw his arms up in exasperation. "Holy fucking hell!"

Wait….Jack knew that voice……
He looked up rapidly from his position to force a headlock on dear brother to behold….
“Uncle Jamie?” He blinked in sheer surprise at the face he hasn’t seen since….What...in his early teens? For whatever reason his Dad wanted nothing to do with him growing up, and pretty much actively avoided him whenever possible….but his dad’s younger brother on the other hand….well, Jack took to him, he sat at the altar of his uncle Jamie, the wise guru, neigh-the sage that he was. He actively drank his kool-aid like a fine wine and sat under the learning tree, really beside Lux, his advice was the only one he ever took.
“Well….he is from Belfast…..You know” Jack leant forward slightly and spoke in a hushed voice “....The north”he whispered as if it was a dirty word
But before he got any further in a blink of an eye he was forced to the ground and pain was EXPLODING through his groan causing him to convolts in pain screaming like a wonded animal rolling around on the ground in clear agoney

"Aye," Jamie replied, his blue eyes moving towards the hairy gorilla, whom Jack had decided to anger. Well, it was apparent that Jack was way out of his league, but regardless of how angry the gorilla was, well, he didn't seem like he would hurt Jack too much.
For now.
"Ah," Jamie replied then with a short nod. "Well, if it walks and talks like a duck.. and all that." Then, as the two started doing their little love dance once more, Jamie turned around, rubbing his chin, wondering where they kept their fine alcohol. Well, he wasn't rude enough to check the cupboards... yet.
So, the dark haired man took a seat, watching the youngsters with an amused grin. "Jack," he gestured towards his nephew on the ground, and then at the other boy, "Gorilla." He wondered briefly why they were fighting, but then again, he knew Jack had a tendency to get on people's nerves, which he figured was the case here. "What did my dear nephew do this time? Did he steal your girl?"

Even though there were few people on Earth that could get his blood boiling as quickly as his brother, the bonds of brotherhood usually kept Taylor from flying off the handled and hurting the younger McCarthy. Much. Taylor's chest heaved from the adrenaline that had shot through his system when Jack leapt upon his back. When cooler heads were abound he'd probably have to have a little chat with his younger brother about things like this. It really wasn't the smartest idea to jump on a combat veteran's back in such a manner. If Taylor hadn't been in the right mind he could've really hurt Jack.
With a long, slow in and exhale of breath, Taylor calmed himself enough to finally look over to the older man who was seemingly making himself at home. A brow quirked at the name, 'Gorillia' sounded dreadfully out of place when used to describe someone who was 6' and weighed less than 200 lbs but Taylor supposed when standing next to his bean pole of a brother it was somewhat fitting. "Who the fuck are you?" He asked, waving a hand in the stranger's direction. When the response came Taylor's brow furrowed with dumbfounded curiosity. "Nephew?" He repeated. "We have an uncle?" He said to no one in particular before he took a step and stood over Jack, looking down at his squirming brother. "Why didn't you tell me we had an uncle?" He asked as if it was a perfectly reasonable question to ask someone who'd just taken a crack to the nuts.

Funny enough, Jack really didn't feel the need to contribute to discussions, it turns out that while he claimed that he could take any kind of blow on his face but certainly not to his particularly sensitive parts as his vision blurred a little with the pain before he tried to shake his head of the extream pain by crawling up the side of the wall taking a deep breath like he was about to give birth as he muttered to himself “Balls of steel” over and over again hoping to return bac to the land of the living “Ok...Ok, ” Jack raised his hand up in the air as if to steady himself “.....Ol I’m good…”
Jack blinked up at Taylor’s question ans shrugged his shoulders scoffing a little “You never asked” he scoffed in derision looking at his uncle and jabbing a thumb towards his beloved uncle as if to say “This guy…” “Even though now that you mention it…..I KNEW I forgot to tell you something” He twisted his head thinly towards Jamie “This is Taylor...apparently dad and another woman had this thing, and then she had THIS…..thing….He’s a little….violent...anger management problems but you get used to it” Jack groaned as he leaned up a little against the wall “So, what are you doing here? Did ummm…..” Jack said trying to sound as casual as he could “Was Dad asking about me?....I left him a message a few months ago….Not that I care...I’m just busy being, a social butterfly...yup that’s me “

Jamie remained silent as the two of them conversed, only offering the gorilla a simple shrug as he started questioning Jack about his heritage. And that's when it hit Jamie. This wasn't just some random boy. Oh no. Jamie had stumbled into some kind of bizarre family reunion and he hadn't been aware. At all. Now this, this was turning out to be far more interesting than he'd ever expected.
And then, then Jamie chuckled. "So this is the bastard I've been wondering when would pop up," he noted to himself, albeit out loud. "Well, your mother sure as hell picked the wrong man to poke around with, laddie," he said, directed towards the gorilla whose name apparently was Taylor. Going from having one nephew to a second, well... Interesting, indeed.
Then Jack posed the most depressing question Jamie could ever have thought off and his amused expression grew somber. "I wouldn't know," he said. "I haven't seen nor talked to your father in years." It wasn't exactly a secret that Jamie and his brother weren't friends. They'd had a falling out a long time ago. "You should find better people to waste your time on, son," he said.

Taylor's first reaction was to respond with an angry, aggressive retort, though the confusion of the two other McCarthy's throwing far more at him than he was expecting. His brow furrowed as he forced himself to keep his mind from racing and thereby triggering his power. It was too early (even though it was well after noon) for him to want to bother with the potential headache (literally and figuratively) that could cause.
"Okay, so..." He trailed off, stepping back a bit to scrutinize the elder McCarthy a moment before turning toward his brother. "This wasn't how I expected to spend my day off." Taylor mumbled to himself as he headed over to help pull Jack up off the floor. The confusion was evident in his eyes but even Taylor understood there was a time and a place for everything and this was certainly neither.
Taylor had caught onto the glimmer of hope that had been woven through Jack's question about their father and it nearly made him wince at the twinge in his heart. In many ways Taylor figured he was the lucky one. He'd never knew their father and thereby never felt anything missing. From the beginning it had just been him and his mother and where she was at now left no hope of a reunion. "Yeah, well, she was young and stupid, from what I heard." Taylor said, casting a glance toward the still unknown man who was, apparently, his uncle. With a short exhale of breath Taylor stepped toward Jamie and extended a hand. The least he could do was formally introduce himself to the man who represented just the second family member he had left. "I guess you already figured out I'm Taylor."
