Total darkness. It was all Andrew could see. His vision had gone out. A side-effect of his power. An uncontrollable one. Unpredictable. Unfortunate. He'd been going to get food after work. Everything was normal. Until it hit him. The lights went out. Everything was gone. Andrew had to reached out. Find something to lean on. To guide him. He found a wall. It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough. Slowly he walked forward. It was barely a crawl.
Andrew had no idea how long this would last. A few minutes? An hour? A day? It was fickle. Uncaring for where he was or what he was doing. It was a constant source of irritation for Andrew. Something he couldn't control. Something he couldn't expect. It ruined his routine whenever it occurred. His mood as well. He wasn't even hungry anymore. He wanted it to stop. He wanted to see.
