It was a cold night. Far too cold. Or she wasn't wearing something thick enough. A wisp of visible air escaped her throat, and she pulled the tassels on her hoodie tighter. "I need to find out what wool is made of," she muttered to no one in particular. Something crashed to the ground behind, causing the girl to nearly leap out of her skin. It was, however, just a cat that proceeded to rush by. "...Stupid thing."
She had been walking for hours. Wandering, more like. She hadn't even planned to come to this remote backwater town, but it was here, or wait a few more days for the bus service to sort itself out. So there she was; fresh off the bus, with nothing to do and nowhere to go. She should have went to Wyoming. Walked there, if she had to. Then again, camping would have sucked. She didn't have any of the right gear. Just the scraggy, slightly torn and weathered clothes on her back and what few possessions she kept in the duffel bag slung over her shoulder. That... and the tiny little pouch tied to her belt that jingled and jangled as she walked. The pouch she had to be careful with.
The girl's head shook, dispelling the thoughts. There were greater things to focus on. Like finding somewhere to sleep for the night. And food. Anywhere she could sit down and relax would be fine, too. She turned a corner, and may well have found her place.
"Hole in the Wall, huh?" she read from the sign. Typical American bar, from the looks of it. Relatively quiet, at least at the moment. She could get a drink, if nothing else. She rummaged around her pockets and found the dirty ID card she had been using for the past few months, ever since this... thing had started. The bouncer looked back and forth between the card and her face several times. It was a good forgery; one that had cost her quite a bit. Not that money was much of an issue, these days.
Eventually, her waved her through and she walked in to the sweet, sweet feeling of warmth. It was a cosy place, and Eve Henkō settled, snugly, right into an empty booth. She breathed a sigh of relief and let herself melt into the comfy upholstery. Moments like this were always nice.
