Cole wondered if there was much to really be surprised by within his own actions. It was like second nature from him, and why not? He would be better remembered with a photo, awkward or not. A borderline cheeky smile took over his expression instead. She seemed more than a little taken back by his actions, and perhaps that was the point. Maybe by the time she caught up, she'd be choosing when to make that phone call.
Or maybe she wouldn't at all. Either way, he supposed it didn't matter.
It shouldn't have mattered.
"C'mon, babes." Careful hands on either side of the box of kittens, and he spun around on a heel to leave the alley where he had found them all in the hands of the girl whose name he didn't even get.

The brunette could do nothing but watch as the strange boy walked away. Just like that, he abruptly walked out of the alley they'd met in, carrying the box of kittens she'd found.
Looking down at the picture showing on her phone, she wasn't sure what to make of it all. It felt so strange. She'd never met someone who acted so strangely. He didn't even say goodbye.
He just left.
"Cole," she repeated as she tucked her phone back into her pocket.
