Joan Marie Witestone
FACE CLAIM: Georgie Henley
---------------------------------
[/b] Joan is an easy-going, laid back, mellow kind of young woman. Which means she kind either be social and amiable or reserved and likes to keep to herself, but she still likes the company. She is very protective of her family. If someone was to take a jab at her family, she would go to blows without thinking twice about it.
AGE: 14
GENDER: Female
ORIENTATION: Unsure at the moment
POSITION: Bellefonte High School student
POWER: Hydrokinetics:
Joan naturally emits brainwaves that water naturally reacts to. There's a compound in water that is naturally attracted to her body like a magnet.
The ability to manipulate the element of water with their mind. Often times it is limited only by the amount of water in the surrounding area.
Wave(s): Larger than normal looking ocean waves. Ranging anywhere from 3 feet high and 2 feet wide, to 10 feet high and 15 feet wide.
Sphere(s): An orb of water floating 2 or 3 inches above the palm of her hand. The size ranges from the size of a ping pong ball to the size of a basketball.
Aquatic Respiration: Can breath in both water and air and is capable of staying underwater longer than most other people
Nictitating Membrane: A transparent third eyelid, that allows Einin to see underwater. In either salt or fresh water.
LIMITATIONS:
Most important weakness to remember is that if there isn't water around, then Joan wouldn't be able to do anything.
Wave(s): Has to be by a large body of water in order to make a wave larger than 3 feet high and 2 feet wide. (In order to make bigger waves, she needs to be by a river, a LARGE lake, or by the ocean. She needs to be within a mile of a LARGE lake, or two miles within a river, or four miles within the ocean. Depending on the size of the wave, depicts how long she can do it before being tired. A small wave she can hold for 45 minutes before tiring, and the largest wave she has made (which was 8 feet high and 5 feet wide) she was able to hold it for 15 minutes before tiring.
Sphere(s): Different sizes, means different amount of water needed. for one the size of a ping pong ball, or golf ball a glass of water would do just fine. Larger spheres would need a larger body of water. Like a swimming pool, creek or bodies of water like that. A ping pong ball size and golf ball size use no energy to be made. Anything larger starts to take some energy, and effort. The largest sphere she has been able to make was a medicine ball size, she was able to keep that one for 30 minutes before she was tiring.
Aquatic Respiration: Has some complications when transitioning from water to air. Chemicals/pollutants in water may damage lungs. Can only respire water for up to two hours before needing to breathe air again.
Nictitating Membrane: Can only use "the third eye" for up two hours.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
She gets headaches when trying to make a sphere bigger than a bowling ball size and holding it for more than five minutes.
Being that her power is water based, she always seems to need to have water to drink.
If she make a wave bigger than three feet wide and holds it for more than 15 minutes, she will get a bloody nose. (From the strain.)
HEIGHT: 5'7"
HAIR COLOR: Brownish-red
EYE COLOR: Blue
MISC:
- Joan has golden color framed glasses she needs to use for reading. But she hates wearing them. There are times she *might* need to be reminded to wear them when in class.
- Joan has a scar on her left shoulder blade; near the bottom. It curves along the side and bottom of her shoulder blade. It is two inches wide, and four inches long. It is dark pink in color. When asked about it, Joan won't tell the true story about it. Each time she is asked about the scar, she tells a different tale.
- Because of the many years of ballet, and several years being in toe shoes, Joan has several scars on her feet. She doesn't like anyone else seeing her feet because of that.
- Joan always has at least two water bottles with her during the school hours.
It takes a lot to piss her off. A lot of pushing, and other things. But once someone does piss her off, that person should be ready for some good old irish rage. She will get up in someone's face, and yell at them. And if pissed off enough, she will go to blows. It depends on what the main issue(s) was.
She has always had religion as a strong point in her life, while growing up. And to this day she is still a devoted catholic, and even wears a cross around her neck at all times. Joan is also very into dance. She has taken ballet since she was three years old. She practises 5 to 7 days a weeks, and she will dance for anywhere from 1 hour and 30 minutes to 4 hours. If she can't get to a dance studio, then she just uses a empty room.
SECRET(S): Even though she never told her mother, Joan found out that Patrick isn't her bio-dad. (But she still calls Patrick 'dad', after all he raised her.)
FATHER: Patrick Witestone
MOTHER: Bridget Witestone
SIBLINGS: Shauna Witestone *8 years old*
WORTHY MENTIONS:
CHILDHOOD: Joan was born on May 19th, at 3:49 am. She had been born in the US, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Within three months of being born, Bridget moved her little girl back to Ireland. What Joan doesn't know is that Patrick isn't their bio dad. Their bio dad was a drunk. Bridget doesn't talk about the twin's bio dad. And she will swear up and down that as far as they need to know, Patrick is their bio dad.
Bridget had gone over to the US, to visit some family. There she had met Robert. At first, he had seem like the perfect gentleman. He would never let her pay for anything. He had asked for her hand only after they had been dating for 6 months. She, being young, thought she had found her prince. But within a month of finding out she was expecting, he changed. (And not for the better.) Bridget had thought it would get better once the baby was born. But she had been wrong. After three months, she couldn't take it anymore. She packed up herself, the small baby, and went back home.
She met Patrick when Joan was just a little over a year. She was jaded by then, and was far more careful that time. But Patrick understood, and waited. Just before the toddler was two, Bridget and Patrick got married. Patrick raised the girl as if she was his very own. When Joan were five years old, their parents had another little girl. Shauna Rose Witestone. Joan loved having a baby around, and she wanted to help her mom whenever she could.
As the little girl grew up, it was easy to tell why her parents always seemed to say that she was an angel. She was an easy-going, laid back, mellow young lady. But with moments of being "bubbly", almost "silly" even at times. She stayed calm in most instances. Though when one did make her mad, they learned not to do it again. She is very protective of her family. Even going to blows if someone was to make a jab at any of her family members. Joan didn't find out she was "gifted" until just shortly after her 14th birthday.
ADOLESCENCE: Joan had been walking along the beach, not far from her home, when someone jumped out from behind a rock and scared her. Not realising what was happening, she took several steps back, as she screamed. She raised her hands over her face, out of fright. So she didn't see what was happening behind her. Being just ten feet from the ocean, as she raised her hands, a large wave formed and rose behind her. The person who had jumped out, yelled in both surprise and fear as he started backing away. The wave moved up the beach, until it was just behind the young woman. The male, scared out of his mind turned and ran like hell. Several moments after he left, Joan slowly lowered her arms, and saw that the male was gone. As she had lowered her arms, the waved moved back, and blended back into the ocean. Lucky for the teenager, no one in town believed what the male was saying. Simply because he was known for being a liar, and everyone knew not to trust what he was saying.
She managed to keep the fact that she was a mutant hidden for just three days before she finally broke down and told her mom and dad. When she told her parents, Joan felt like a weight had been lift from her shoulders. Even after telling her parents just what she could do, they still accepted her as their oldest daughter, and loved her.
During her whole childhood, and into her teen years, Joan has always done ballet. It has always been a way for her to forget the world and just be by herself for a small amount of time.
ADULTHOOD:
SAMPLE: Kitty grinned as she left the nightclub. The young woman had felt slightly uneasy when the idea first popped up in her mind, but by the time she got to the nightclub, those thoughts were gone. She had had a great night. She drank some, danced with so many different males. More giggles escaped her as she thought of all the dancing she did.
The young woman paused at the corner and dug around in her purse. She couldn't seen to fine her phone. With a groan, she turned back and headed back to the club. *So much for getting back before 2.* She thought as she grinned at the bouncer.
"I know that you know that I just left here. Let's not beat around the bush. OK? I seemed to have left my phone inside. Do you think I could just slip back in for just a quick moment and get it?"
The bouncer sighed, recrosses his arms and shook his head. "Ain't noone gonna get in after 1. Boss' orders."
*Of course this isn't going to be easy.* She thought, still smiling. "Please. We both know I was here all night."
Her mind raced as she tried to think of something else. "I have the hand stamp even."
But nothing else came to mind. The bouncer just shook his head. Kitty held a growl, barely held it back. But held it back nonetheless. With a sigh and a quick but stiff nod, she turned and walked off. Kitty paused at the alley way, and looked around. She didn't see anyone, and without another thought she quickly walked down the darkened, narrow, gross area.
Looking around once more, just to be sure that she was alone right then, she popped her head through the wall. *Right in a stall, in the women's bathroom.* She thought, stepping through the rest of the way. She felt proud of herself right then. Yet, what the teenager didn't know, was that not one but three someones had seen her go through the wall. Then they stood at the entrance and exit of the alley way. They were going to wait right there for the freak.
Kitty slipped out of the bathroom and saw one of her (few) human friends. "Please tell me you have my phone." She said quickly, sliding next to the red head.
Her friend laughed and up the phone. "Now what kind of friend would I be if I didn't save this for you?"
Kitty laughed, took her phone, dropped it into her purse and hugged her friend. "I need to head home though."
"Oh come on! Just a couple more shots? Please? Don't make me beg Kit."
"Okay, okay. Just three more shoots, each and then I'm out the here." She sighed, still grinning and sat back down.
The three shots turned into five, which morphed into 7. That was where Kitty drew the line. She shook her head, and stood up. "Now I really need to go home." With one last shot, the short female walked off, slipping through the crowd. After making sure no one was watching her, Kitty walked into the bathroom, and phased through the wall.
The 16 year old took a couple of steps away from the wall and looked into her purse, double checking for her phone. "At least I have it this time." She muttered.
Without knowing what was waiting for her within a few moments, the young woman walked down the alley, heading towards the streets. She was looking down at her phone, hoping she wouldn't be killed for being out that night.
