Vincent Jayden Cooper
FACE CLAIM: Michael B. Jordan
---------------------------------
AGE: 25
GENDER: Male
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual
POSITION: Recovering Semi-Pro Boxer / Looking for work
POWER: Pyrokinetic Mimicry
Vince has the ability to manipulate the rapid oxidation in the exothermic chemical process of combustion and releasing heat. The flames he generates start but engulfing the palm of his hand. Unlike other pyrokinetics, Vince's entire body part is covered in flames when he tries to generate them. It's like a coat of flaming plasma covers his skin. Once the coat is activated, more fire can be generated in fireballs and other various applications. Vince is, of course, immune towards fire as in some, severe cases his entire body can be engulfed. His overall body temperature is lower than the average human's to keep him cool. However, when Vince does get a workout in it's easier for him to burn calories faster and longer, leaving his body in tip-top shape.
LIMITATIONS:
- He needs oxygen to fuel his powers.
- He is overpowered by elements such as ice, water, air, and even earth.
- Unless emotionally triggered (which is rare), engulfing his entire body is extremely difficult and draining.
- Vince's power is not associated with outside flames - only ones made from his own body.
SIDE-EFFECTS:
- Headache
- Dehydration
- Nosebleeds
- Fatigue
A recruiter from Bellefonte Academy was brought in for an interview on up and coming boxer Vince Cooper. He was asked to tell Vince's story to shed some light on the controversy over the fairness of his abilities during competition.
“We found Vince when he was around 15 shortly coming on 16. Most kids we find are either scared of their powers or hate them, especially with a pyro-type power like Vince’s that has the potential to be so destructive.” The recruiter shook his head and scoffed with a grin. “No not Vince. Not Vince. The kid couldn’t be happy with his gift. It was a little strange for him in the begging, like it is for everyone, bu he was quickly used his powers. He just couldn’t get over the fact that he was a mutant with these extraordinary abilities.”
It all started when I picked up on something as I was on my way to go seek out another case in Idaho. I told them I’d drive out there to go pick up the kid and so I grabbed a Red Bull and headed out.”
He paused again, chuckling, like it was happening all over again. “As I was driving through the suburbs-farmland type area of Montana just a bit of way away from the academy, my sense was going crazy. I kept thinking it was just some locals or students around Montana but it wasn’t. I pretty much ignored it until I spotted Vince Cooper, butt naked, out in a snow-covered field. He was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. His body kept lighting on fire and then going out. He obviously didn’t know what the hell was going on when he kept bursting into flames so I don’t blame him all too much.” He scoffed again and rubbed his face in embarrassment for the memory. “Or his mother was beating with a broom trying to put him out.”
“I pulled over onto the side of the road as the kid on fire ran away from his mother screaming as she tried hitting him. I guess it was her best instinct on what do. She didn’t know any better at the time. Although, when I made my way over there, I tried to tell her to stop and then everything was fine but she refused to do anything but shout at my that her baby was on fire and I need to call the fire department.”
He shrugged and sighed. “Eventually he ran out of juice and passed out of over exhaustion. She, of course, thought he had died and fell into my arms screaming-crying. The whole thing was a mess. However, I brought Vince inside and calmed her down and explained to her the whole routine and how he was special and about the school and all that Jazz. She was sad to see him go but they lived close enough to where she agreed to let me take him peacefully. Though, I’m pretty sure she visited him every weekend until he made her stop.”
“Vince actually adjusted well and was fine with everything that took place. In the beginning, he was unstable for a while. His abilities were unpredictable. He did a lot of training with trainers until he was allowed into school with everyone else.” He shrugged. “Luckily, the kids a fast learner so everything turned out just fine.”
“He went through high school just fine with just a few minor detentions and what not but over all a great kid. He has his moments of cocky, recklessness but Vince is well known throughout Bellefonte as the charming, down to earth kid everybody loves. He got into boxing when he joined the little team sophomore in high school. He actually stuck with it all through high school and was actually winning tournaments and what not. When he finished high school I believe he went off to travel trying to get some sponsors and paid fights. I heard he’s back in Kalispell after finally becoming a semi-pro but tore his rotator cuff in his first fight. But uh- you guys already knew that right?"
