Even though it was Corey's first day at the Academy it felt as if he'd never left. Even though he'd been gone for the better part of three years his 'homecoming' was a long time coming. The on campus medical staff hadn't changed much and they welcomed him back with open arms. When he through the expansive campus with his security badge that clearly labelled him as a member of the Academy's emergency medical staff he couldn't help the nearly overwhelming sense of deja vu that hit him. The moment he settled into the chair behind the front desk at the nurse's office and lifted the local newspaper up to take in an article on the latest in Kalispell's mayoral election it became clear to Corey that he never should have left.
But time had a way of lending a certain amount of clarity to life. Corey, in a way, had to leave in order to fully understand what the Academy, its students and staff truly meant to him. Anyway, there was always the appeal of change and seeking out something different. He never regretted leaving to pursue a career with the Kalispell Fire Department and there had been no hesitation in his decision to return to Bellefonte even it had meant he would have to say good bye to his partner of two years. Now the big man was looking forward to meeting his new partner.
When the door to the nurse's office opened Corey lowered the paper to see who had stepped inside. His brow furrowed at the sight. It was impossible. There was no way. The newcomer was a tall, lanky young man with dark skin, bright, expressive eyes and an all to familiar face. "Ezra Cooper ." Corey said with his head shaking. The young man was clad in the same black cargo pants and black shirt with the gold emblem of Bellefonte Academy on the breast and 'EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES' printed on the back. "What the hell are you doing here?" Corey asked incredulously as he got to his feet, the paper being discarded on the desk, and he approached the other paramedic.
