”Could that have gone any worse?"
That sentence alone was already hard for Tiana to say over the coughing fit that was wracking her body. Her science partner had unfortunately not been the smartest kid in the room, and had messed up the chemicals they were experimenting with for that day. Tiana silently sent a “thank you” to the teacher for making them wear googles for the lab. A puff of black smoke had shot out and hit both Tiana and her partner. Luckily her mouth had been closed at the time, but still shed breathed a small bit in through her nose and was now trying to get it out of her lungs.
”Why’s shit like this always happen?”
Still coughing, Tiana, opened the door to the classroom and stumbled her way outside. She needed fresh air and this was as close as she could get. Clawing at the goggles, she tore them off and leaned against a wall to regain her breath and control of her body. She was still coughing, but not nearly as violently. She glanced down at her googles and noticed how there was some black substance on the outside of them now. She let out a groan of frustration, figuring the stuff must’ve been on her face too by default.
”Wonderful. No, really.”
In her lamenting, she hardly noticed she wasn’t alone in the hall. She gave out a few more coughs before she noticed them and threw them a weak and slightly embarrassed smile.
”Hi.”
