My dad died when I was young and my mother struggled to keep things going around for us. So, we sort of knew from an early age that we had to get part time jobs to help out and that nothing would ever come cheap for us. But we were happy. Maybe a little rough around the edges, but we managed, you know? I've always been a little rough around the edges as a person too, but I'm not going to offer you some sobstory about how it's all because of my dad's death. I don't know - I guess the way I was raised just sort of prepared me in ways most other kids' lives didn't. I learned early that nothing ever comes for free.
I was never much of a scholar. I didn't do well in school - other than gym class. I found out rather quickly that I had a passion for dancing and sports. While the rest of my female peers was out shopping and gossiping, I was with my older brother, watching sports and going to various games. 'Til this day, hockey and basketball are my favorites. I even joined my school's football team, but because of my petite frame, I didn't exactly fit in. And after my collarbone broke, the coach told me it was better that I stuck to things more suited for my "gender".
Pompeous asshole.
Honestly though, it only increased the drive. I wanted to prove something to myself. That just because I'm a girl, I can do everything a man can. And in some ways, I did. Don't take me wrong, I KNOW there's a difference between most male and female bodybuilds. I'm probably what most people would call a typical blonde - I have blue eyes, I'm slim and I'm 5'8ft tall. I have the body of a dancer and the heart of a war- no, that just sounds cliche, doesn't it? heh.
Times were tough though. My family couldn't exactly afford me joining all these clubs, so I started dancing at the age of sixteen at this joint downtown. I wasn't a stripper, but it wasn't exactly child-friendly. But the owner didn't ask any questions as long as I did my job, and that suited me perfectly. And at least it was a good way for me to keep my body in shape while earning some money.
When I was eighteen though, I graduated high school. With my grades, I had no chance of getting into college, so I got a job at this bar. Because of my age, I couldn't serve any alcohol, but I did other things. Most of which I'm not proud of, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I grew up in Canada, by the way. I guess I'm what you could call French-Canadian. It's kind of cool, being able to speak two languages. Some men find French really sexy. I'm not going to go into any details, because my entire life is made uo of me doing things I'm not proud of. Who hasn't? Who can honestly say they haven't ever done something they regret or that have made them rethink their entire moral standing?
They're liars, if they say anything else.
So, here I am. Twenty four years old and working as a bartender in Kalispell. I came here about a few months ago. To the center of "mutant activity" in hopes of... Well, I'm not entirely sure what I'm hoping to do, but I'm going to do it good.
