Heather hummed to herself as she cleaned down the kitchen counters, neatly packing away the dishes into the cupboard and glancing around to make sure her apartment looked presentable. The place usually looked neat, as Heather was pretty ordered and organised in most things that she did. It was also surprising at how relatively efficient she had become at cleaning, considering she'd never had to do it herself before coming to the united states.
The redhead pulled a stray strand of hair from her face as she moved around, making sure everything looked pretty good. She might just have to order takeaway... Either that, or scare Gemma away by burning down the apartment trying to cook. She was being melodramatic, but she really wasn't very good at cooking. She gave a small snort, the memory flicking through her mind of her first week at Bellefonte, where her and Oneyka managed to burn pasta. She hadn't known how to cook pasta.
Heather was in pretty comfy clothes to hang out, she was wearing a relatively long, dark skirt with an iron maiden shirt on. Queens of the Stone age were playing over the speaker's. All things considered, they had a really nice apartment. Heather was pretty well off in terms of income, to say the least.
She practically danced around like an idiot, waiting for the sound of the doorbell, clearly very excited. She barely noticed the other emotions in the building.
The winter chilled the evening, light flurries of snow sending snowflakes dancing in the cold air. They could just be seen as they caught the light under the streetlamps, shimmering just a little before tumbling to the ground, leaving a soft coating of frost across the sidewalk. Gemma watched some tumble in front of her as she walked, a bright smile on her lips. She adored the evening... It held some kind of ethereal quality to it, and a quietness away from the nightclub district that was almost magical. Gemma pulled her candy pink, thick dressing gown tighter around herself, trying to ward off the night's icy touch. The blonde thankfully hadn't lived too far from Heather's apartment, so had decided that a quick walk over in her pink checkered pjs, pink dressing gown which of course was as fluffy as a kitten, and her pink slipper boots was perfectly reasonable. She hugged a large rucksack to herself, in which contained her change of clothes for the following day, anything else she needed toiletry wise and of course, her attempt at homemade cupcakes. Gemma bopped a little as she walked, humming a candy pop song to herself, her blonde curls bouncing a little; She swept up the mass of a golden halo of hair up into a messy top bun, the curls cascading down her back. she spotted her friend's apartment building, hurriedly making her way over to it and up the stairs to the correct home. Of course she gained a few odd looks of a few passers by, but they were met with a light hearted nod and smile from the reporter as she bounced her way over to the redhead's door.
Gemma then pouted, realising that with her arms full, she had no means of pressing the doorbell. She attempted to manuvour her arms, but fearing she may damage the cupcakes, the blonde instead leaned close to the door and pressed the bell with the end of her nose, wriggling it afterwards before grinning brightly.

Heather had after becoming a teenager, discovered something that she could only describe as freaking awesome. If she hung out with people enough, she tended to get a feeling for their most common clusters of emotion. To the point that she could tell when Oneyka was coming home, in the middle of the day as soon as she reached their building. She was starting to get a feel for Gemma's emotions too by now.
She was lost in her own world of a couple of minutes, sliding along the glossy wooden (or fake wooden) floor of her apartment in her socks, humming to the music and generally enjoying herself, getting lost in the music. She felt a jolt as Gemma's cute emotions wriggled thereway comfortably into the back of Heather's mind, like a small animal snuggling a source of warmth in the cold.
She felt a grin blossom on her lips as she slid across the floor, literally sliding on her socks to the front door, stopping just in front of it and pulling it open as Gemma pressed the door bell with her nose. That was pretty adorable. Heather gave off a giggle as the girl looked up and titled her head with a sweet smile. "Well hello there." The blonde appeared to already be in pjama's, which was absolutely fine as far as Heather was concerned.
She held the door open for her friend. "Come on in! My roommates aren't here at the moment." She added with a soft smile.
Gemma blinked with bright eyes when the door was swung open, giving a sunny smile and a light hearted giggle. "Red!" She declared excitedly, as though she hadn't seen the girl in ages, holding up her rucksack. "I bought cupcakes!" She then pouted her lips, looking down at the bag. "I mean, I don't know how they'll taste but I tell ya, I tried my best." She gave a nod before she bounded into the apartment, scooting her slipper boots a little on the wooden floor she was by now quite used to being on, placing her rucksack on the kitchen table. She suddenly held a finger up, giving a light gasp. "I love the music!" She smiled, before opening the bag and retrieving the baked goods.
Gemma was no empath, but she felt as though she had a natural flair for sensing the general feel of a space... And Heather's apartment was one of those places which almost felt like home. It held a distinct warmth, which was likely from the redhead and her roommates; Gemma had only met Onnie and Jack a handle of times in passing, but she'd found them both to be in their own ways very endearing. The blonde could see why her friend wanted to live with the pair. Bobbing a little to the music, Gemma presented Heather with the tupperware box, in which contained her attempt at vanilla cupcakes with a strawberry frosting. They were decent enough, but during transportation a handful had become a touch bashed; But this was slight, and overall the cupcakes were well made. "Here! You can't have a sleepover without a LOT of junk food, right?" Gemma grinned. "I have popcorn too! AND..." She gasped again, silently scolding herself for almost forgetting as she quickly balanced the box with one hand and delved back into the rucksack with her other, taking hold of a large bar of chocolate, in a deep purple wrapper. "This is British, right? I found it at a specialty shop in town... I thought you'd like a taste of home."

Heather grinned brightly as the other girl slid into her apartment in her frankly adorable attire. She gently slid the door shut and walked over to Gemma to join her and giggled at the comment on the music. She hadn't quite expected Gemma to be into Queens of the Stone age, but it was a welcome surpise to find out that she liked it. The more time Heather spent with Gemma, the more she felt like it was silly she hadn't gotten to know the blonde sooner.
"That's fine! It's not like I'm a cook myself, in fact I'm rather notorious among certain friends for being terrible at it." She admitted somewhat embarrassingly. She gingerly took the cupcakes and smiled. They looked good, and they definitely looked like Gemma had put effort into them which meant that they would taste all that much better to Heather regardless.
Heather blinked slowly for a moment. The point at which the familiar purple wrapper was brought out, accompanied by Gemma's sweet words, was the point at which her heart melted a little. The other girl was just, so sweet. She let of a little squeak of glee, accompanied by a gasp. "Gemma! You didn't have to!" She stepped forwards and draped her arms around the other girl in a gentle and warm hug.
Gemma wasn't the worst cook, but she'd be lying if she said she was a natural. Good meals usually came from going through recipes with intense precision; She'd tried hard with the cupcakes, but as much as Gemma adored highly sugary foods, she was far from an expert when it came to actually producing them herself. Thankfully, Heather seemed pleased with them none the less, which was all Gemma cared about. Her next little presentation of a treat was met with a gasp and smile spilling over with warmth, which flowed through into a hug. The blonde gave a small squeak of delight, proud of herself for managing to get hold of the confection. She wrapped her own arms tightly around the redhead, giving her a squeeze. "Aww, Red, it's no problem!" The blonde replied brightly. "I just thought you might be missing home, so I thought I'd get you a little taste of it!"
Gemma was thankfully not as far from home as Heather was, but she still missed her family... So she could understand what Heather must surely feel a little homesick every now and then. The blonde pulled out of the warm hug, lightly bobbing the redhead on the nose with the chocolate bar, before placing it on the kitchen table. "Do you fancy ordering take out? We should properly do it before the snow starts to fall more thickly." She was still bobbing a little to the music, hugging her rucksack to her chest as she turned to grin at her friend. "Where am I staying? Should we get quilts and pillows and just make a pile on the floor!" She jumped up and down a little, her curls bouncing on her back. "Lets do that! It's not too childish, is it?" Gemma and her sister back home often would drag their quilts and pillows into the living room, sty up all night watching movies, overindulging in snacks and finally passing out from sugar highs in the very early morning.

Heather's cheeks gradually drew in a little colour and became bright pink, Gemma's thoughts for her were so sweet! It was true. She did miss home. She hadn't seen her family in so long, other than short phone conversations. She really missed her older sister, and her brother. But she drew those thoughts away, smiling sweetly at Gemma and squeezing her gently in the hug.
Even the little nickname that Gemma gave her filled her heart with flutters some friends had this way of just drawing out her affectionate side like a magnet. Gemma was one of those people. If she was any other young adult, people might have suspected Heather of having emotional, or physical attraction towards the blonde. But this was Heather, and Heather was not most people of her age.
Heather nodded enthusiastically, trying to shake away the blush forming. "Yes! What would you like to eat? Pizza? Chinese? I really don't mind." She responded with a sheepish grin spread across her small lips.
A gentle giggle escaped the Brit's lips. She turned her head slightly and playfully bumped Gemma's shoulder. "That sounds like fun! And I don't really care if it's childish, if it's with you I'm sure it will be rather a lot of fun!" She chimed.
Gemma had always been an affectionate person, to both her family and her friends. Heather had quickly earned a position as a close friend of the blonde, so she was more then happy to show the girl more then enough affection. At times, Gemma knew she could almost be a little over powering... So she tried to pay attention to any sign of uncomfortableness the other person displayed.
She continued to bounce a little until Heather confirmed the idea of a pile of duvets and pillows on the floor was a go, giving a small gasp of delight. She quickly rushed over to the living room area of the apartment, dropping her rucksack on the floor beside the sofa before toppling onto it, giggling as she flopped onto her back. She grabbed hold of one of the cushions from the sofa, hugging it tightly to herself. "I'm thinking... Pizza?" She mused, sitting up and bringing her knees to her chest, grinning over at the redhead. "I mean, I'm okay with anything really, but I just fancy a good pizza." The blonde had been looking forward to this the entire week... If there was anything Gemma adored more then her work as a reporter, it was spending time with people she cared about... Especially when she could just relax and be herself. Being a fledging adult in a chaotic world was hard enough, so the blonde was thankful for the chances she got to just let her hair down and be almost a little childish. Innocence was a hard thing to come across these days, so Gemma savoured each moment spent in the warm, comforting safety of a friend's home, eating good food and worrying about nothing for a few hours at least. She leaned forward, putting her chin on her knees. "What say you, Captain Red?"

In Heather's experience, take away was usually best for social gatherings like this. Although there wasn't really anything wrong with cooking, or rather trying to cook. When Heather cooked, something usually got burnt, or under cooked. She was sooo bad at it. At least she could make pasta, or noodles now though. Heather tried to stick with fresh salads and stuff, because she couldn't mess that up.
Also when she hung out with people like Gemma, she tended to find herself losing track of time quite quickly, and so ordering food usually ended up being the better of the options. The redhead felt the Blonde's bubbly aura wash over her. A stray, embarassing thought passed through Heather's mind, but she pushed it aside, possibly for later after they'd been hanging out for a while, and she was more comfortable.
"Pizza sounds good to me! My room is that one over there, just grab sheets and whatever else you like." She pointed out with a smile. Her room was meticulously ordered, with relatively friendly colours and a comfy double bed. They could just sit in her bed and watch movies there, but she was perfectly okay with sitting in the lounge on the floor with Gemma too, the prospect sounded fun.
She grabbed her laptop off the side and pulled up a pizza delivery. "What Pizza would you like, Gemma lovely?"
Gemma had a bit of a habit for ordering take out in some form, even if it was just slipping into town and picking up some ready made salad or pasta dish. For lifestyle was quite fast paced, from her college course to her work at the newspaper; She rarely got time to spend a large amount of time at home in front of a hot stove. Still, that was why she was so very thankful for times like this, where the blonde could really relax.
She blinked over at her friend, blowing upwards to dislodge a long golden curl that had defiantly escaped and flopped in front of her face; Choosing pizza toppings was a serious business, and Gemma certainly didn't want to select a poor combination. "... You know what? Surprise me!" She grinned, lifting her head up from her knees. "Just no mushrooms. Mushrooms are an evil creation." She grimaced, sticking her tongue out, swinging her legs off of the sofa. She stood up, stretching her arms up above her head before letting them flop to her sides. "Okay, so you handle the food, and I'll prepare the accommodation!" The blonde grinned, giving the redhead a playful wink. She then bounded from the room, a slight spring in her step which went along with the still playing music, to the room that Heather had specified as her own. The blonde gathered the duvet and various pillows, struggling to carry the mass of fabric back into the living room, trailing it a little on the floor. She piled it up on the sofa, before flopping herself down on her stomach on top of the pile, grinning over at Heather as she kicked her feet a little. "What movie did you get?" She inquired, tucking the escaped lock of hair behind her ear.

Heather shrugged and smiled. She usually didn't like having the responsibility of dinner all on her own, so she just ordered a margherita and a meat pizza just to be safe. She glanced around the apartment and shook her head, she still couldn't believe that she was living out here with two friends from University, it was crazy when you stopped to think about it.
She finished ordering and looked up to see Gemma planting herself on the sofa. Heather moved over to look down on her from behind the sofa. "Would you like a cup of tea, Gemma?" She asked in a soft tone. She softly admired Gemma's cute curls, she loved the other girl's hair. Not that Heather's hair was plain or anything, it was just that Gemma's was especially pretty. It suited her very well.

Gemma hugged a pillow tightly to herself, tilting her head slightly at her friend when she didn't answer her about the movie; Maybe she hadn't heard her? Still, the blonde was quickly distracted by her friend's offer of tea. "OH, yes please!" The blonde replied brightly; She'd come to get a bit of a taste for the beverage since becoming friends with Heather... She seemed to drink it a lot. At least it was a healthier then coffee, and had a number of different flavours. Gemma wiggled her toes a little, flopping her chin onto the pillow she was hugging to her chest as she glanced around the apartment; She'd been here a number of times now, and she loved being there... It held such a warmth. Gemma almost wished she'd gotten herself a roommate... It would be easier with the rent, and she'd have the company; But when the reporter had gone about finding herself a place outside of the Academy, there hadn't been anyone available to room with her. Still, at least it meant she could decorate her own place to her own liking... Which was in pastel colours and bright pinks. She liked to keep things sunny and bright.
"... How is it living with Onnie and Jack?" Gemma questioned curiously. "I mean, I wanted a roommate way back when I first got my apartment... But no one was available to room with me. Is it easier?"

Heather looked over to Gemma, her gaze lingering just a little too long as the other girl hugged the pillow, the body language was just so relaxed and cute. Heather's cheeks coloured slightly as she realised she'd skipped over one question. "Uhmmm sorry, I got distracted by the thought of tea." She blushed. "I've got a few rentals over there, I didn't know what you wanted... I'm not that well versed in movies." There were a handfull of comedies, romantic movies, romantic comedies, and a few thrillers. And netflix.
She smiled and nodded to the other girl. "What would you like? We've got uhm... Pretty much everything." She admitted embarrassingly, her cupboard was rather full with an assortment of herbal teas and such. As she opened the cupboard door a mutlicoloured grid of boxes was clearly visible, with all of the different blends and types of tea, from English Breakfast to peppermint, to Red bush.
"It's.... actually very fun." Heather smiled. "Even though being around emotions can be taxing, the two of them are so perfect together, it warms me every morning when I get up. And Oneyka is my best friend, I love hanging out and living with her." She grinned.

Gemma blinked back at her friend with her big, sunny gaze, giggling when the redhead spoke of getting distracted by the idea of tea. "You're such a Brit!" She smiled, her words meant as a clear playful tease; Her friend was adorable when she was embarrassed, Gemma giggling a little more at the warmth she'd noticed seeping into Heather's cheeks. The blonde then blew a raspberry, and waved a hand at the other girl. "No worries, Gem's got you covered. I ADORE movies." The blonde did; Gemma had studied all manners of media at Bellefonte, with cinema being perhaps a second to her love for reporting and the news. She slowly tilted herself sideways until she rolled herself off of the sofa, leaving the pillow and crawling over to the TV stand, where a variety of movies were piled up in neat stacks. Gemma doubted the organisation was Jack's doing.
As Gemma traced a finger over the spines of the DVDs, preparing to make a selection, she pouted thoughtfully. "... Do you have that strawberry tea? The really fruity one," She spoke up, offering her friend another one of her luminous grins, before giving a soft "Aww" as Heather spoke of her adoration for her roommates. She made it sound so wonderful... And she was right, Gemma may have only seen the pair in passing, but they were clearly very much in love, which was a rare thing... They were adorable. "Goodness, aren't you all the sweetest things?!" She exclaimed, putting her hands to her cheeks. "I wish I'd tried harder to get a roommate. Everyone I know is taken now I think." She then sighed, before going back to her DVD selection, sticking her tongue out a little in concentration. "... I'm thinking... Something like Bridesmaids..."
Gemma's film tastes were varied. The blonde adored cheesy romantic comedies, but also had a love for action, drama, adventure. Something simple and light hearted however seemed the perfect fit for this sleepover, so the blonde was after something fun. "... Red, help me choose!" She urged, sticking out her bottom lip.

Heather hummed as she ran her hand along the varied selection of teas, she withdrew a peppermint infusion for herself, stretching up her arm and standing on her tip toes to pull the box down and retrieve one of the small teabags. She loved the scent of the tea bags too, all of them had this really subtle, gentle smell that just made her feel relaxed. Hot drinks in general tended to do that actually.
Heather pouted gently as her face reddened again. "I swear you enjoy making me blush." She murmured in response. Heather nodded to the other girl's request for a drink and flicked the kettle's switch, reaching back up into the cupboard to pull out another mug and the strawberry blended tea. She smiled to herself as Gemma responded to Heather's comments about being roommates with Oneyka and Jack.
She turned her head slightly, looking at Gemma from over her shoulder. "I would say you're far sweeter." She tweeted at the other girl, dropping the tea bags into a couple of nice Disney themed mugs, pouring the hot water in and stiring them, before walking over and setting them on the coffee table.
She smirked and walked over to Gemma, draping her arms over Gemma's shoulders and looking at the DVD's from over her shoulder. "Gem I'm happy with whatever you'd like to watch." She smiled at the other girl from close proximity.
