She rolled her eyes and scowled toward the male. Au contraire. I dated him for a good while before I left. She couldn't decide what this boy was trying to do. Rile her up? Upset her? She tapped on the arm rest next to her.
"What, don't think rich, successful men like their women insane?" She quipped.

Aha, he knew it! Best friend my arse, he thought snobbishly before realizing Cosette most probably had heard his thought. Well that was a neat power though he knew he would have to literally keep his thoughts to himself and keep himself in check especially around a telepath like her. Even so, a chuckle illicited from the boy.
To be honest, Cash was only mocking and teasing. Though he could see how it could push one's buttons. From the sound of it, the girl might be available but emotionally, she was still be on Karsen Ford island. But she was a pretty one so, eh.
Never said that. Just tryna figure out if you're in another cliche love story or what. C'mon, it does sound a little like an over used romance plot. No offence to you two. But hey, you do the things that makes you happy, right? So what happened, still pinning for him?

Cosette simply shrugged. Or something. She focused on the movie for the next while, glancing idly to her phone every ten to twenty minutes; as if she was expecting a text. Her nose scrunched as time went on but no text came.
When the movie ended she stated, "I liked it. It wasn't too frightening, though."
Cash Hunter shook his head, chuckling. 'Or something.' Way to keep it vague alright. But the boy respected her choice of words. They were only strangers who met under very odd circumstances so he was hardly the candidate for her to pour her story out. With a cheeky smile, he popped some popcorn into his mouth and enjoyed the movie.
Once the credits rolled in, he stretched his arms out to let the blood flow and release the strain. "Wasn't bad. Need to be anywhere?" He remembered how Cosette often looked at her phone. "Grab a smoothie? Still need to shake that chick off."
Cash looked behind, to find Stella still there as expected.

Cosette shrugged slightly as she stood. "A smoothie would be nice." She stated, glaring toward the other woman. Ugh. These circumstances were strange and though she couldn't help but be annoyed at first glance, shrbwas enjoying the strange interaction.
"Smoothie it is then," he said, nodding in complete agreement. Cash took Cosette's bags in one hand and her hand in the other. Come on, darling, he thought with a teasing tone. Smiling to himself, he led the way to a juice bar.
Even as they waited in line, Stella was making it clear that she was not leaving anytime soon. Whilst he looked back, he caught her moody glare. The boy winked, feeling happy.
He paid for their drinks and they found a place to sit. "So tell me, what's it like hearing people's thoughts?"

Cosette settled into a chair and arched a brow at the question. "Uh. I'm labelled insane. I mean, it did turn out I had Schizophrenia, but still." She crinkled her nose as she sipped from her smoothie. "Now, there's the whole issue of my daughter -- she's got two mutant parents and is most likely going to grow up with abilities. Which worries me, and thrills me. Will she have my abilities, or her fathers?"
Her gaze settled upon Cash. "So what did you say you did again?"

The dark haired boy chuckled at how ironic her condition was. To be honest, he found it quite amusing about Cosette's power and its relation with her mental state of mind. But that opinion he kept to himself, not many appreciated being laughed at even though it was not in spite.
Cash Hunter sipped his smoothie squeamishly as he realized his pretend girlfriend was technically a real life mom. For a brief moment, he was worried her husband boyfriend partner would appear and made his own conclusions on what was happening between the two. But the girl in front of him had played along and did not seem one bit worried. So why should he?
He settled back into the chair. "Did what, exactly?" He raised an eyebrow in confusion. "But hold up. What's so wrong if she had your powers? Is hearing everyone's thoughts a little tiring? Or if your daughter had her father's? Would it really be that terrible, whatever it is."

"Well, if she had Karsen's powers, he would be quite pleased. He's already rather excited to have someone to leave everything to in his will." She chuckled wryly at the thought of Karsen's face when he had met his daughter. Her nose scrunched. "But with my power, even if you are not schizo, it makes you feel like you are. I used to do things to myself because I had trouble controlling my abilities."
She sipped her smoothie absently, shrugging. "And though we would not be as clueless as either of our parents were with us, and she may still feel alienated. Especially if her abilities end up differing from ours. So it really is a lose-lose situation."
Cosette grinned toward the male. "Would you rather hear everyone's thoughts? All the time? Early on, you can't stop. You walk too close to someone -- oops, you're in their head. You knock on the door to your boyfriend's room -- oops, he's in there with another girl -- thinking about how to break up with you. You don't really recover. It took me a long time to get where I am now."

At first, the nineteen year old boy honestly thought the father of her child was dead or something. That was one of the main reasons he could only think of as to why Cosette would be worried about what her daughter's power will be. But he thpught wrong. The guy -- Karsen -- was not dead. The way she spoke about him made him out to be very much still breathing.
Cash Hunter nodded in understanding as he listened to the girl sitting across from him. Being at Bellefonte, he knew everyone handled their ability different than others. He was just one of the more fortunate ones. The story and example she gave got a laugh out of the boy.
"You turn out fine as far as I can tell from the short time we've conversed. Look, I'm probably the last person who should be giving any input about how you can handle your kid, but trust yourself. Trust your kid. I heard parents have that motherly and fatherly instinct," he said the last bit in a hush tone as if he was clueing her in on a secret.

Cosette burst out laughing, shaking her head. "Oh, well, considering I raised Carmen alone up until these past few months or so, I'd say I've got that instinct. Not sure about her daddy, though." She shook her head and turned to eye Stella -- as if checking whether the woman was there or not.
Her nose crinkled as she pushed herself to her feet, moving toward the other woman. She would lean next to Stella and whisper softly, "You know that boy you're stalking? He's my toy for the evening, and if you do not take your leave of our presence, I will tear your hair out by the roots." She would lift a hand to her lips to hide her smile, as she started back to their table, and settled down as if nothing happened.

Cash Hunter laughed along with the girl. It was kind of funny especially coming from him. His parents' marriage was not at its best. Even that, he was not sure if there was ever the best. Despite their constant bickering, they made sure the little Hunters were raised properly. The boy knew one of the only reasons why his parents were still together was because of him and his siblings.
His eyes glint in amusement and curiosity as he watched Cosette left her seat and moved towards Stella. Now what is she up to? When she returned, Stella left the premises. His eyebrows raised in questioning. "Well that did the trick." Cash drank his smoothie with a satisfied smile.
"Thank you for being my pretend girlfriend. Guess you're free to go wherever your heart desires."

"Mhm. Very easy. Simple threats do the trick." She stated, as she caught sight of a very energetic little girl running toward her -- shouting for her. Cosette chuckled as she stood, smoothie in hand.
"Mommy! Got cookies!" The small girl was quite the mess -- covered in cookies and chocolate, behind the child walked her father -- quite slowly. Cosette leaned down to claim the child, and offer her smoothie to her, as she moved off toward the girl's father.
She turned to peer over her shoulder and offer a wave to Cash -- laughing at something her child said. Eventually the little family would go on their way.

The nineteen year old boy chuckled and flashed a thankful smile in the girl's direction. He then almost choked on his drink when he heard the loud -- very loud -- shrill voice. "Wow, perfect timing," he uttered to no one in particular.
Not long after that, his hand raised, waving goodbye to the young couple and their daughter. He found it cute that the two looked happy together with a child. Well, they looked young and he had heard teenage parents never worked out all that great. Who knew, maybe after a few years they would break up or something.
Cash Hunter knew nothing good last forever and he was perfectly fine with that.
