"They cut me open, they took away my baby. They didn’t let me see her.”
A pained expression crossed Lynette’s face before it melted into sympathy once more. It hurt for her to hear those words, as gentle and sleepily as Petra said it. Lynette only idly watched the nurse work, but mainly her eyes were trained on the poor girl lying in bed. Lynette wanted to urge her to simply sleep, but she felt it would be futile.
"Can you hold my hand?”
Lynette only hesitate a moment before reaching forward with a smile and grasping Petra’s hand. Her smile was kind, if more than a little sorrowful.
“Of course Petra.”
Lynette wasn’t sure what else to say. If she knew how to assure the girl and make her more comfortable, she would’ve said something. Yet as it were, Lynette still had no clue exactly how to deal with this.
"I know. Last time she was here she broke a nurse’s nose.”
That was certainly news to Lynette, and she squeezed Petra’s hand gently as another wave of ire spiked inside of her. The fact Petra had obviously put up a fight spoke volumes to Lynette on whose idea the abortion had been. She reigned her increasing anger in once more for Petra’s sake and instead watched the nurse.
"The doctors want to do a Psyciatic evaluation, when she was here last time she was diagnosed with depression. She was written out a perscription, but they were never taken out.”
Lynette spared another glance at Petra before looking back. She was a little unsure how to answer, although she figured it would be for the girl’s own good.
“I have a feeling I know why the medicine was never taken out. As for an evaluation,” Lynette paused for a moment, “I suppose that would be alright. I can’t exactly speak for her,” She glanced at Petra, “But I know I want whatever’s best for her. Especially after a day so horribly hectic as this one. If the evaluation will help, then I suppose it’s fine.”
She turned her head back to Petra and offered a kind smile, hoping the girl would believe her and calm down.
“Petra please, you should rest over all that’s happened today. I’m sure you’re very tired, but you’re safe now. Please believe me, I’ll stay right here the whole time.”
