The cat was struggling in Ezra's arm so he adjusted it a little and it ended up curling itself around his neck, it's tail tickling Ezra's nose. "Yeah, I'm totally a perch for you." Ezra chuckled, swatting the swaying tail out of his face.
At Cash's statement, Ezra followed the man's sight and sighed with relief. The dilemma they were suddenly presented with had Ezra grimacing. "Yeah...you're on your own, buddy. I got you your cat and your other tortoise."
The college student watched in amusement at the cat who was making itself comfy around Ezra's neck. "You look like natural with it. Or maybe it just wants food."
Cash groaned in mock disbelief at the other boy's refusal and basically told him how he was on his own. "Oh let me be the bad guy," he said sarcastically, chuckling. With the leash in hand, he tugged the Great Dane along with him as he strode over to the little girl who could not be any older than four years old. "Don't be a brat," he muttered to himself as he neared her.
Long story short, apparently the tortoise was hers. And the girl's mom came and gave him accusing looks as if he were to kidnap her daughter. Please. He did not have long to inspect the tortoise before the mom was already making moves to leave.
He turned back to Ezra and put his hands up in disbelief. "Who brings tortoises to the park?"

Ezra chuckled, still swatting the lazily swinging tail in his face. "Either way, I guess I'm a perch for her now. I could live with that." Ezra grinned.
"That's the spirit. Go break that kid's heart." Ezra raised a fist in his direction in a salute. He cringed when the mother came and looked like she was about to blow a whistle to stop Cash from taking her kid and Cash was back by Ezra's side. Pursing his lips at Cash's question, Ezra held out the tortoise in his hand.
"I believe you." He teased. "We've still got time. Cats and dogs generally don't eat tortoises. Maybe someone managed to - oh hey, look, guy!" Ezra waved a hand at a guy who was picking something green up from the ground, looking at it quizzically. He looked over to Ezra and held it up in his direction, pointing to it and then to Ezra. Ezra nodded frantically, holding on to the cat perched on his shoulder before walking over to him.
"Why would you bring a cold-blooded reptile out in this weather?" The guy asked when Ezra approached him. He chuckled and took the tortoise in his free hand, waiting for Cash to arrive. "You know, I was asking the same thing. But thanks man. Appreciate it."
He turned when Cash finally arrived. "Now what has this taught us?"

"Har dee har har." His hand went to scratch the back of his head. He bent down to the toirses' level and stared at it through squinted eyes. "Where's your lil twin Dolce huh? Or Gabana, whichever." Then his head was back up when he heard Ezra exclaimed. He looked to where the other was waving frantically at.
And then it seemed the gods had shined on him. There was Dolce no Gabana erm the little creature! The boy looked to the sky and sent a silent thank you. It would have been bad, so very bad if he had to tell the crazy poor old lady that one of her tortoises were missing.
Following Ezra's lead, he tugged the mutt along with him who was not all that cooperating. "Oh come on, now." Once he reached there, he heard the last bits of the conversation exchanged between the two other guys. "Yep, thanks," he informed and gave the man a thumbs up as he left.
"Hmm the lesson?" The speedster picked up the new found tortoise in hand from Ezra. "All pets should have GPS installed in them!" exclaimed Cash before he dashed to where they were and grabbed the box and dashed back over. This time not dropping the tortoise in hand. "Hey, thanks for being patient. Sorry if this threw off your plans," he said, noting the running gear.

Rolling his eyes at the fact that Cash clearly didn't want to be blamed for this debacle, Ezra nodded in amusement. "Sure, let's go with that. Not the fact that you shouldn't be talking to pretty girls and putting your tortoises, which by the way who brings them to the park?, on the ground." He was sounding like the annoying big brother but he couldn't help being one.
It kind of reminded him that he always wanted a little brother. And he didn't even know this guy's age. For all he knew, Cash was older than him.
"Oh not a problem. I was done anyway. Just cooling down." He smiled and nodded at Cash. "Hope the old lady appreciates the effort you put in to taking care of her little babies." Ezra chuckled, pulling the cat off his shoulders. Trying to anyway. The cat wouldn't let him go. "Huh. Looks like I'm petsitting with you today."

Ezra did sound like an annoying big brother he so oftenly saw on television. But the teasing and the tone were normal to him. Cash had an older brother who liked to point all he did wrong. Though with him, it was everything he did wrong with the girls. "They'd bring it to help little poor old ladies," the nineteen year old said, chuckling before flashing his new friend a smile that usually got him out of trouble. Because who can say no that face?
Once he had the box, he crouched to set it down and carefully placed the little creature inside. "I hope she wouldn't have to know how I almost lost one of them. You weren't easy to find now were you?" The last bit was directed to the tortoise, he said as he gave it a tap. Taking the other one from Ezra, the two tortoises were finally in their box.
"Aaaww she likes you." It looked like the cat was certainly comfy around the other boy's neck. "I should get them to their dinner. Why don't you walk with us back? She only lives in Forest Hill. Plus, you know, prolong your ever lasting love with...the cat. Whose name I believe is either Macy or Bebe. The old lady loves naming her pets after brands." Shaking his head, Cash took hold of the box and the leash.

"Mmhmm." Ezra smirked, the urge to ruffle Cash's hair so overwhelming. He watched as the man placed the tortoises into the box before rummaging through his pocket to get the protein bar he had stored on him before the run. He had a few, considering he always needed to replenish immediately after a run. 'Perks' of his abilities. He always found it cumbersome that he needed to run off the excess energy he had but he still needed to load up on carbs and such to keep his energy up. Even more so than the average person, or he would pass out of exhaustion or worst.
As if on cue, the cat rubbed it's head against Ezra's cheek and he chuckled. "No, not for you buddy." Ezra said as he ripped into his bar. "Do you want one? I've got a bunch." He asked Cash before starting to walk in the direction of the housing area he mentioned.

"Yeah sure." He accepted the protein bar offered. "My mom made me carry these bad boys when I first manifested," he said, chuckling at the memory. "You can say I was like a really hungry teenager." Thanks to his super speed, everything in him was in constant rapid motion resulting in a higher metabolism rate. "She kinda freaked out when she found out the amount of junk food I ate in a day, so she forced me to switch to these healthy protein bars." By the time he finished talking, Cash was already halfway through his bar.
Once the two boys reached 1340 Evergreen Ln, the nineteen year old lead them to the back of the house where he was told the back door would be unlocked. "Hold up a sec." He placed the box on the table and tied the dog to one of the chairs. Cash followed the instructions that were left for him. Taking a tupperware of salad, doogie treats, fish shaped biscuits, he took them out to the backyard where Ezra and the pets were. "Maybe this would get her off ya," he said as he shook the cat biscuits.
After setting the bowls for the dog and the cat, he fed the tortoises their salad. "Oh hey," he stopped feeding midway and took out the wad of cash from his back pocket. He separated half of the payment he received and handed it to the other boy. "For the trouble you had to go through."

It had been awhile since Ezra didn't cringe when a mother is mentioned. Especially one who clearly looked after her son, even when she knew they were a mutant. A small empty smile appeared on his face and he continued to finish off his protein bar in a few bites. "That's cool." He nodded and before he knew it, they were at a house, walking around it and into it.
Seemingly familiar with the place, the cat finally leapt off Ezra and walked towards the food bowl on the floor. Suddenly, Ezra felt a little awkward standing by the doorway. When Cash handed the money, Ezra snorted and pushed his hand away.
"No trouble. Half the time, that's what my job requires me to do. So we'll just say I've done a public service."
Ezra looked around and wondered if the guy still needed him. "Uh...where is the old lady, anyway?"

When the other boy pushed his hand and the money with it away, the nineteen year old groaned mockingly. He clutched his chest as if the rejection by Ezra had pained him oh so dearly. "Oh really? Are you some kind of pet rescuer or something? Can't say I've met a lot in my life..."
At the mention of the old lady's where abouts, Cash shrugged. "Somewhere out of town. That's all I know. Am supposed to lock up and hide the key in the pot. Though I probably should not have said that. But I trust you wouldn't go about messing around here now would ya?" He said, winking.
"No but come on man. Take at least quarter of what she paid me." Again, Cash handed the bills. One of the things the boy hated was feeling indebted or owing other people. But if it was the other way around, that would not be a problem.

"KFD paramedic, actually. But basically yes, that is the bulk of what I do." He chuckled, making light of the rather serious nature of his job. There were times when he wished the only thing he had to do was rescue animals from trees or under buildings but the things he'd seen the past year alone would make anyone's toes curl.
Chuckling at Cash's worry, Ezra narrowed his eyes and pouted, giving off the look of pondering his rhetorical question. "I dunno...judging by the number of tea cozies and bread boxes in this room alone, I don't think it's worth messing around with." Ezra shook his head and remained straight-faced for about a second before snorting and shaking his head in amusement.
Once again, Ezra pushed the hand away. "Bro...would you have taken the money if our roles were reversed?" He asked, tilting his head a little in question.

| OOC Note: Wrap? |
"Oh wow. That's pretty cool," he stated, nodding his head impressively. Cash chuckled as well at the other boy's comment about the house. From what he could tell, Ezra was one heck of a guy. He saves people, animals, he was kind and did not look like the kind to break into an old lady's home. He did not meet a lot of those these days. It was refreshing.
Yet again the older boy declined his offer. The question brought a small smirk to his face. Yes, if the roles were reversed, the nineteen year old would not have accepted the money. But not for the same reason Ezra had for not taking it. Cash would want to collect his favor another time. Well, the other boy did not need to know that.
"Touche," he said as he tucked the wad of cash back into his back pocket.

Ezra smiled lightly and shrugged nonchalantly. He always tried to downplay his job but in all honesty, he also thought his job was pretty cool. It actually made him feel important when someone else thought it was impressive too.
He was glad when Cash kept the money finally and Ezra nodded, grinning at the man. "Okay, well...I'm going to duck out. Keep Dolce and Gabbana in sight. No talking to pretty girls, ya hear?" He pointed a reprimanding finger at Cash and walked backwards out the door. "See ya!"
