Everett rarely had the time to just stand and cook, and experiment; but when the kitchen was deserted and the night was dark he finally had some time to himself. Truthfully he'd probably be more comfortable in his own house working, but the kitchens at Helios were so extensive and well-prepared that it would be a sin not to take advantage of what he had.
The man had spent a great deal of his day staring at numbers and files, and it was soothing for him now to hear the rhythmic thunk-thunk of a knife on the chopping board and forget all about the stress. It was always helpful for him to test out recipes by cooking and trying them himself, before giving them to his workers in the kitchen. He may have had to give up his cooking for a better job, but he refused to give up his life's-work completely. And screw the chefs working under him if they thought they could cook a single dish he hadn't approved.
Ever's gentle humming was interrupted when he heard someone step into the cafeteria. Grabbing a dish towel he nudged the kitchen door open, absently wiping his hands. There were still a few lights left on in the spacious room, and the man relaxed when he recognized the figure. "Evening,"[/b] he drawled, clearly curious about the impromptu visit. "You're not trying to raid my fridge for chocolate or something are you?"
He was mostly joking; but even though Drew was his boss, he'd probably still have a few words to say to anyone picking out of his kitchen.....Which Drew paid for.....Yeah he was probably going to get fired. Not that he truly believed that was Drew's purpose for being in the kitchen at that late hour anyway.
