Moments in which Drew and Erika Conner (Bellefonte) managed to find the time to spend together without any interference from their respective professions were growing rarer by the week. With the dearth of holiday events, as well as the increased level of travel for both students and faculty at the Academy, Christmas always found Erika running herself ragged in an attempt to make the thousands of moving parts that made up Bellefonte work while appeasing every request she could. Likewise, the winter brought little relief for Drew, who's fiscal year end reports would forever be a painful thorn in his side and a time waster with little equal.
And yet, through it all, here they were, sitting on a park bench while their bundled up, two year old son tromped around the snow covered playground. Drew couldn't help the smile from taking the place of his usually ever present smirk as he watched Isaac trod through the snow with Argos, tail wagging madly, frolicking nearby. It was a painfully simple scene. For just a couple hours Erika and Drew didn't have to answer to their last names. There were no reports, no academic schedules to approve, no worries or concerns. They were simply Mister and Misses Conner and their son, Isaac, enjoying an early afternoon visit to the park.
"My assistant will have the end of year reports finished by the end of the week." Drew said, though he didn't let that announcement linger in the air for very long. He quickly finished his thought. "Once they're finalized I told everyone I'm disappearing until the new year." The smile crept into his gaze as he turned his dark eyes to his wife. "Have you decided where we're going to spend Christmas this year?"
