Selina loved the snow, it was quiet, calm, and there was something so pristine about the way it looked when untouched by anyone. She was a bit farther up the mountainside than normal, but she'd wanted to get away from it all for a while. It had been really windy earlier this morning when she’d headed out to breakfast, so she was glad that the winds seemed to have calmed in the afternoon when she’d made her way up the mountain. The sun was warm on her back and she was almost tempted to take off her thick sweatshirt despite the fact that the temperature was still below freezing.
The combination of exercise and the sun had warmed her through. She paused as she saw someone else a bit further ahead, a bit curious as to what someone else was doing this far up the mountain. She slowly made her way over towards them, being the inherently social person that she was, but paused when she heard something that sounded like low thunder. Her eyes widened as she saw snow rapidly coming down the slope and ran over to the boy, her power kicking in as she raised a thick wall of mixed snow and ice to protect them, ramping the wall as best she could so the snow would pass over them instead of crashing into them full force.
She froze the barrier as fast as she could, strengthening it with all her might before she felt the crash of the avalanche through her bones. As the snow, debris, and whatever else threatened to crush her and the boy, she formed another barrier of snow and ice over top of them. Thanks to her power, she could sense the rapidly flowing snow around them, but the strain from manipulating so much snow so quickly had her sweating through her clothes, out of breath, and dizzy to say the least. Her muscles were severely strained and she could barely keep herself upright, but she pressed her hands against the haphazard shelter and continued to strengthen it as well as she could. Selina wasn’t sure how long she stood there, bracing them both against a force of nature while she barely maintained consciousness, but when the darkness took her, she sighed in relief and fell to the ground, unable to move.
