"Please just hold on Clint." She said softly but insistently, helping the man walk with an arm slung over her shoulder. This was bad. This was really really bad. How far away was home from here? How much blood would he lose on foot? Would the bus even take them? Nonie glanced over at Clint's side, where he was holding a hand firmly against himself to stanch the blood flow. From what she could see, he was managing to do it and keep it from flowing too badly, now all she had to do was get him to a bus stop or try to quickly walk him home.
She was still so jittery too. That had been terrifying. She had just been walking back when she heard the yelling and then looked in one of the alleys to see Clint being attacked by some furious drunk. From the streetlight and his flailing arms, she could see the glint of a knife in his hands. Clint had been in danger! So she just moved, emptying one of the metal trash cans that had been outside. Maybe it was a club? Nonie wasn't sure but she crept up on the drunk and struck him in the side as hard as she possibly could. He had gone to the ground in a heap, but she wasn't checking to see if she had accidentally killed him or not. Her heart was just pounding as she got Clint up and started walking away as fast as she could.
"Keep pressing! I know it hurts Clint but you have to! Please!" She said, voice thick with worried as she saw the pain on her friend's face. "We'll get you patched up, ok? I promise. Even if we have to stop in a store along the way or something." Were any stores even open at this hour? Nonie didn't point that out, she just kept trekking forward, her steps urgent.
Oh please oh please let the bus let us on!
