Darcy didn't know what made her think getting tea here was a good idea. It was a coffee shop. But since returning to town, she wanted to see every inch of it, see how much had changed since she left. It had been, what, eight years? A lot happened in that time--both to the town and her. For example, she used to love drinking coffee back in high school. It was addictive. But now? She stayed away from the caffeine and settled for tea.
Still, maybe it would have been a better idea to get my daily dose from an actual tea shop or even diner.
Before she could change her mind though, she found herself at the front of the queue. Might as well. She ordered her tea. While she waited for this, she looked around. Cool Beans was packed that morning--by teenagers and adults alike. This place was certainly popular so she hoped their quality lived up to its reputation. She had a good feeling anyway--literally. She could feel the hormones these people oozed. Hardly any negative emotions, the doctor herself felt... cheerier. A horrid side-effect, actually.
Another's feelings are not my own.
She did not know whether she was sincerely feeling good or simply influenced by the atmosphere. She wanted to get out. Now. As soon as her order was ready, Darcy grabbed it and spun on her heel, ready to leave. Unfortunately, something someone stood in her way. Hot tea spilled over the stranger.
"Shit, I'm so sorry!" Panicking, she grabbed napkins from the counter and started to wipe the stain. She looked up to see her victim--and had to tilt her head back.
Damn, he's tall.
