Raven loved shopping at the Spring Prairie Center. It was on the outskirts of town and was never really that busy, especially on a Thursday morning. And some of the thrift stores had the cutest things. Today wasn't a browsing day, at least not to start. Today was essential shopping day. Toilet paper, tampons, various medicines, snacks, some new makeup, stock up on hair dye, and a few other things here and there. Then she'd browse.
Raven was particularly thankful today wasn't busy. She'd been pushing herself with trying to learn control of her abilities again. "Stupid S.P.R.I.T.E," she mumbled under her breath. She'd worn herself thin and totally needed a 'me' day. A day to pamper and relax herself. She wouldn't work herself this hard if she didn't miss her work. Who knew being a model would make Raven so happy. Who knew cutting back as much as she did would drive her crazy. Plus it was cutting into her spending money. She was still well off, especially with her trust opening up to her on her 21st birthday. She knew her Nanna had set that up. Her parents could care less about her.
She couldn't help but burst out laughing remembering the day the recruiters came to get her and to prove they were legit and mutants, one of them had levitated. Her mom had actually fainted. FAINTED! Of course deep, deep down, somewhere Raven never visited and something she'd never admit to out loud, it actually hurt that her parents were just pretty much fantasy figures in her life. Something that doesn't actually exist. Being lost in thought, Raven didn't notice someone had stopped on the sidewalk outside one of the outlet shops and bumped right into someone, stumbling back.
