“I mean, is it just me?”
Franck didn’t know why he chose to talk of his last relationship with Heather Sutherland. Perhaps because she had a similar power. It didn’t seem relevant but he couldn’t really explain what made him want to open up otherwise. It could just be because she was a friend too, the kind of friend he wouldn’t simply know in advance what she’d say, making having this discussion pointless. At the same time, he didn’t she’d judge him only because they had different opinions.
Still, when they met here and started talking, he didn’t mean to be the one doing all the talking, let along speak of his ex. But he suddenly felt the need to unload on someone and that someone happened to be her. That included the reason why he broke up with the guy, “I’m not saying that sex is everything or even the most important part, but it sorts of matter, no? If you can’t be physical with someone, you can’t really say you’re lovers, right?”
Only after that did he remember what she once told him about her sexuality. It had been a while but he could recall something about feelings being the most important and not being too attracted towards the physical aspect of a relationship. He felt a tad embarrassed about it now and he knew she would pick it. If not thanks to her power, it had to show on his face. Franck had never been really good at hiding his emotions. He felt the need to explain himself. “I know that I’m attracted to guys. How can I be with someone, romantically with someone, if he cannot be sure he is as turned on by me as I am by him?”
