Sometimes. not often. but sometimes. Raven had to admit that maybe life wasn't all bad. Because right now she found herself sitting with her legs crossed on the shore of a beautiful lake, with her favourite book, and a thermos of coffee next to her. It was probably going to be one of the last days of the year with nice weather so she'd decided to make the most of it.
This was far better then being hold up inside her room staring at YouTube or whatever it was she'd been doing with her free time lately. the days had been blending together so much she barely remembered, nor cared too.
All that mattered right now was the peace, the chance to do what she wanted with no interruptions, and.... no that was it. those two factors were enough. Raven smiled and glanced out across the water. Yeah things were looking up for once.

Raven was a people person. She LOVED them. But today had been hell. She'd been at the school working on being able to feel another persons emotions, really feel, at will and then be able to shut it out so she wasn't feeling it anymore. She'd sat in one of the busiest places and tried. For a while nothing had happened. Then it seemed to all come in at a rush. Annoyance, heart-break, giddiness, boredom. Raven found herself clutching her head as it felt like it was trying to burst. Tears leaked out of the corner of her eyes as she tried to shut herself off from the room. Finally, after who knew how long, but what felt like an eternity, Raven had pushed out the others and was left with a massive headache and this weird empty feeling. She had felt so much and now she felt dried up, bereft, of any emotion at all.
She wiped her eyes quickly and jumped up from her spot. Being such a mess she bumped into a few people on her way out, and those few students quickly let her know their displeasure, though their faces drained of color it seemed and they suddenly look confused. Raven let out a frustrated yell as she realized what happened as she wrapped her arms tightly around her and ran out of the building.
Soon the high from absorbing those two students emotions was flowing through her system. She wasn't running because she felt horrible and her headache was temporarily abated, she was running just to be running. She spread out her arms, "Whheeeeee," grinning and giggling wildly as she ran all around. Her running smoothly transitioned to skipping and soon she was by the lake. She stopped at the edge and looked out at the calm, smooth surface. The scene and clear, clean air smoothing the jagged edges of her own high and emotions just under the surface.
Out of the corner of her eye she spotted someone and grinned. She skipped over to them and plopped right down next to them. "Yo, whats uuuup? Beautiful day, right? We should totally dance around the lake, right? Do you wanna dance with me?" Raven jumped up and did some twirls, laughing out loud and then plopping back down next to the girl. "Names Raven, well its short for somethin' but no way in hell am I telling you cause only person who calls me that is my Nanna and you damn well ain't her," she said, introducing herself with a wild grin.

Raven was honestly speechless at first when a pink haired tidal wave hit her out of nowhere, all insane ramblings and enough hyperactive energy to power a city. "what?" Raven tried weakly, before holding her hand out in front of her to get enough time to process everything just said. Eventually it sank in and Raven slid the bookmark into place in her novel, before closing it and putting it on the ground out the way.
Where to start? Raven cleared her throat.
"No i'm not going to dance with you." She said, watching with bewilderment as the pink girl did twirls and whatnot. Why was this suddenly happening? did God get bored of the world making sense? she hadn't sinned THAT MUCH in the last few days. "You've put swan lake to shame." she deadpanned, really not knowing what else to say.
When the sugar fairy introduced herself, Raven finally burst out laughing, cackling until there were tears running down her cheeks. "so I was the evil universe version all along! why not." she said before shaking her head in amusement. "Name's Raven, believe it or not. but mine ain't short for nothing." because she hadn't ever heard of that.
Really part of her wanted, and was probably going, to tell this girl to piss off. She was too happy for Raven to cope with. "Look I don't mean to be rude," she lied, "but is there something I can help you with here?" althooooough. this girl, who Raven was already titling 'Raven 2. electric boogaloo' in her head, at least someone Raven could have a memorable conversation with. as compared to the zombies that filled the school for the most part.
Okay maybe she'd hold off on telling her to get lost, maybe Raven could get her to calm down or something.

"OH. MY GOD. You are so lucky your name's not short for nothing. My..." she grimaced but continued on, "Mother, if you can call her that, insisted on calling me Ravenna all through my child hood until I completely stopped listening to her. Finally she got it through her fake poofy blonde hair that I'd only respond to Raven. Like I said though, my Nanna's a special case." She let out a big breath and fell back to lay on the grass, "And you're right, I totally put swan lake to shame," she sat up again a big grin on her face, "maybe I should learn!"
The high had given her a rush of giddy energy, but it was only a momentary brush that had sucked the emotions from the two students so she didn't get much and that high was already fading and Raven's headache was starting to come forth. Thankfully she seemed to be shut off from outside emotions though and the headache wasn't as overpowering as earlier. She'd take that small victory. "Yes, you can help me with your company. Highschoolers are so overly dramatic and they FEEL everything so...." she paused, scrunching her eyebrows as she thought of a word, "...DRAMATICALLY. If that makes sense."
With no sense of personal space Raven scooted closer to the girl with the same name. "So like, I should call you Twin. First of all, it'd confuse people to all hell cause obviously we're not twins, and second of all I wouldn't feel weird if I called out my own name if I saw you in a crowd across the way. Well, I wouldn't feel weird , I just think it'd be cool," She said with a big grin. The obvious boost of energy she'd rushed into the meadow with was mostly gone and she was able to sit still without fidgeting.

Raven blinked slowly, "Ravenna..... Ravenna." she rolled the name around thoughtfully before shaking her head. "yeah no worries there. Not a chance of me calling you that." because seriously, how pretentious must Raven 2's mother be to come up with a name like that? Well from the sounds of it, that was the least of the problems with the woman. Raven almost pointed out seeing as both of them were sitting here with fake hair, maybe Raven 2nd should put the rock down before bringing this glass house down on them. Almost. Instead she just nodded in agreement, "Well I bet the enthusiasm would carry you plenty far. Go for it."
"Wait high school?" Raven asked, scratching her head. "I was guessing you were older then that." The confusion only increased at the next part. "No that really doesn't make sense. You just mean they over react or what?" Because if that was it then Raven 2.0: Rave Harder, really needed to tone down the flowery language. So now the question was did Raven actually want this girls company? eh, a better question was what else had she to be doing. "Yeah sure. Pull up a turf. Shoot the shit." she agreed, pulling some of the grass up she proceeded to tear it apart just to give her hands something to do.
Which was probably for the best because usually she'd never..... Raven's train of thought came to a stop and she laughed, partly because she had an idea, but also because she'd been genuinely amused by that's so Raven and her idea of a nickname. "If that's the way we're playing it then fine. Sounds fun. But I'm calling you Nevermore." she said, pleased with herself with that one. but she had been thinking about something. Oh yeah!
Because usually she'd never put up with someone invading her space without trying to push Nevermore here down the hill. So she contented herself with just shifting a few inches away so she'd feel more comfortable. "So." she said finally, "Anything inspire you to come up here?" She asked, guessing it wasn't trying to avoid problems if she was this cheerful.
