For some reason, Vera felt a bit odd being in here. Usually if she wanted to read, she just simply bought a book online and had it downloaded into her Kindle. But she figured since she and Devyn were starting their newly wedded lives together, that maybe it was time to start a collection of books... maybe even have a shelf full of them at their place.
That and she just really wanted her wife to spot the books and get an idea.
The idea was cute but the execution was the problem, because now she was in a bookstore in town, where people she knew could possibly pop up and could make assumptions based on what books she currently had in her arms. Like, The Ultimate Guide to Pregnancy for Lesbians: How to Stay Sane and Care for Yourself from Pre-conception Through Birth or even, The Lesbian Parenting Book, and Vera had currently pulled out another book that caught her eye; She Looks Just Like You: A Memoir of (Nonbiological Lesbian) Motherhood.
The funny thing about said books was that her and Devyn weren't full blown lesbians... seeing how they were both Bi-Sexual but in a sense of being married, everyone pretty much assumed they were. In a way they were, but at the same time they still admired the beauty of men... and-and this was exactly why Vera hated labels because they made everything complicated for no reason.
Either way, she was now on the run. Her mission, if she chose to accept it (and she did), was to purchase the books, get them bagged and head straight back home.
The off-duty cop headed to the cashie- "Oh, Casey! Hey... didn't know you were working today." She greeted her friend with a sheepish smile as she fidgeted with her ponytail.
