Before Dawn (Beau)

It was early. Just before dawn and Levi was up and already dressed. He had on his running shoes, running shorts, a sweatshirt, and as he made his way out of his apartment he grabbed his keys and threw on his baseball hat. Once he was outside he looked up at the dark sky. "Thank you." He said. He took in a few deep breaths of crisp morning air and once he felt ready he took off down the street.

There was dew on the lawns of each house he passed on the street. Everyone was most likely sleeping. It was Sunday. There was no need for anyone to be up this early. At first Levi ran as fast as he could, but as he felt himself tire out he slowed down to a more appropriate pace. It had been a little over a week since he last ran, and boy was this much overdue. He made his way all over town. He had starting heading in the direction of the forest but after a while he stopped himself and turned around, he was quite ready to go there yet, but soon he would be.

His mind was clear and free for the first time in a long time. He had finally managed to control his thoughts and the only real issue he had right now was Luna. There was something seriously wrong with her and he was starting to worry. Perhaps a trip to the vet would be a good idea.

Levi ran all over town. He had been running for maybe about an hour. The pinkish hue across the horizon was a sign that the morning soon approached. He stopped when he reached the outskirts of the town. He took a seat off the side of the main road just in case any cars were to come his way. Levi wrapped his arms around his knees as he readied himself to watch the sunrise.

Despite himself, he was usually brimming with energy. It made him jittery in the mornings, even without coffee ( and hell, he could never really see doing caffeine at all ) and so the only option was to do some sort of physical activity. His current relevant interest was something called Parkour, and... frankly it was exhilarating. He usually watched something new in the morning to keep his skills fresh, and then took off from his dorm.

Yes, he knew he was supposed to leave through the door, but like hell was he going to do that.

The redhead made his way down through various shortcuts - jumps and leaps allowing him to avoid breaks in motion. That, after all, was the point. Perpetual motion, making his leg muscles burn. He didn't even think when he moved - he just... pointed himself in a direction, and his body did the work. It was a feeling he was slowly starting to understand, even after his time at the Academy - the odd... simplicity of it. His body taking over, even though he couldn't honestly remember specifics.

Thirty minutes had the sun starting to rise, and the student knew he needed to at least take a break. After all, freerunning was less enjoyable the further away from things you got. He was considering turning around and starting back, but after a moment, he spotted some dude just... sitting.

Quirking a brow, he approached - and there was no mistaking that someone was walking up to him. He dropped down in front of him, blue eyes staring directly into the man. From his crouched position, he moved his hands as he spoke, his voice slightly distorted.

"Whaht ahre you doing?" He asked, fingers moving with relative ease. It was practiced and done without thinking. "Ahre you huhrt?" He asked, on the off chance that was the case.

Mind free. His hazel eyes enjoyed the view. The tip of the sun was peeking out of the horizon. Things were quiet. The day was soon to begin. It was the simple pleasure of being able to enjoy something fully in the moment. Not worry, not thinking, simply being. He felt the air brush up against the exposed parts of his body. The sweat had long dissipated as he had finished his run and was now on cool down.

As the sun began to reveal more of itself Levi’s ears perked up at what sounded like someone approaching him. Before he could even turn his hand a boy had appeared in front of him. He listened as the kid spoke, and moving his hands. Was he signing? Slightly irritated that his moment was ruined, Levi looked briefly back at the sun before answering the boy.

“No I’m not hurt.” He said, meeting the boy’s gaze. “I’m watching the sunrise.” He said as he gestured to the big ball of flaming gas over the horizon. “What are you doing?” Slightly curious.

At the affirmation that the stranger wasn't injured, the deaf boy nodded, pleasantly. "Thaht's good." He explained, just in case the guy missed it.

The explanation that he was watching the sunrise had Beau quirking a brow, though, as if the very concept was absolutely strange to him. He looked over his shoulder, in the direction that the other guy gestured, trying to figure out why.

"Ruhnning." He replied, catching the last word of his question and extrapolating from that. Most people didn't ask strangers what other people were doing, so he could only assume he was asking him. "Why are you wahtching the sunrise?" He asked, clearly confused. "Is sohmething going to happen to it?" The followup might have sounded ridiculous, but he learned a long time ago that people didn't take you seriously if you only asked one question. It was a weird conversational quirk, but people always asked really / seriously? if he asked only the first question.

This sort of repetition cut out the middle man. He seemed not to worry to much about any attitude that was currently being displayed, and instead dropped so he was sitting in front of the other guy properly, curling his legs up in front of him. Yep, he was invested now.

Levi’s hazel eyes flickered between the horizon and the boy that was now talking to him. He gave a quick nod before stretching his neck to one side, and the doing it again on the other. It was a nice feeling. The boy seemed confused when Levi explained he was watching the sunrise. He wasn’t sure if he had understood him correctly. There was no use in trying to sing back to the boy. The few things Levi did know where curse words, and he wasn’t about to show that off to the boy.

When the boy said he had been running, Levi nodded his head again. He wasn’t that surprised. That’s what most people were doing out and about at this time without a car. It was nice to see a fellow runner. The boy’s next question took his back a bit. Why was he watching the sunset? Was he serious? The kicker was if something was going to happen to it. Levi fought back a sarcastic response. “It’s just a nice view. It’s relaxing.” He said simply. Unsure if the boy would understand it. He gestured to the horizon. The sun was making its way over the line, as the pinkish hue slowly transition to orange. The mountains and trees in the distance made it look like a perfectly painted picture.

His eyes went to the boy. Who was now sitting in front of him. Great.

It took him a second to realize he was probably doing that whole 'blocking the view' thing, and so he carefully scooted to the side, and in fact, turned his whole body sideways so he could turn his head to watch both the man and the sunrise at random.

He wasn't sure why the sunrise would be relaxing, but he still angled himself so that his gaze was watching as light slowly crept along various planes, casting shadows in some places, and erasing them all together in others. It was... pretty? But already he was drumming on his legs with his fingers, and struggling to keep himself from bouncing his feet as well.

"I dohn't feel relaxed" He explained, turning to face the man again, a careful look on his face. It wasn't accusatory, just... uncertain. Like he was expecting some sort of magical contentment to waft over him. "Is it making you relaxed?"

Levi kept his eyes forward, taking notice of the boy moving to his side. He was trying to focus on the distance, but at the same time he was curious about this boy. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed the boy seemed to be playing drums on his legs. The boy clearly couldn’t relax. That or he was still hyped up from his run. Perhaps he should run some more.

He turned to look at the boy. His comment confirming his thoughts. “It was.” He said, unsure of what the boy had been expecting. “But it also has to come from yourself.” He added. Uncertain if he was making any sense. He gave a shrug, “Maybe it’s not for everyone. I don’t know.” He looked back ahead of him.

His mind began to wander, he’d have to take his dogs out soon. Would he run back home? Or would he walk? Maybe he should stop by the house. No. Not yet. He turned back to the boy, “It helps me wind down after a run.” He explained, going back to the sunrise. Although for the boy, he never left.
