She loved those days where she got some time off from the hospital. That meant she could offer her dog, Newt all the attention he truly deserved. And that meant going for walks. Normally, when she had the time, Veronica preferred going to the mountain trails or around the various lakes, but today the park seemed like the better option. From looking at the clouds, it looked like it was about the rain as she stepped out of her apartment building.
No matter. She'd survive a little rain, right?
At least that's what she'd been thinking earlier before she found herself looking like a drowning cat with her dog running around the park like a wild animal, clearly enjoying this way more than what Veronica did.
And even better yet, Newt loved people, and the moment he smelled some poor sucker nearby, he darted off and Veronica could barely keep up. Especially with her clothes being soaked and heavy with rain. Heck, she was even sure they and her skin was covered in mud from running after her dog, trying to catch him and failing miserably.
"Newt!" she called out as she saw her dog stop by someone a few feet away and the redhead slowed down. As she approached the two, her dog and the stranger, she furrowed her brows and attempted at giving the man a sheepish smile. "Sorry about that," she said and gestured at the dog eagerly jumping up and down in front of the stranger.

Felix had never been one to allow a little rain to unsettle his day, and while that morning the weather had been perfectly acceptable for a walk to the academy as opposed to his usual option of taking his car, it had left him with little else but to endure the sudden shower when it came to wandering into Kalispell for lunch. At least he'd left an umbrella in his office in case of such an occasion, which he had grown increasingly thankful for as he made his way across the pathway across the main park. The scent of freshly cut grass was only further enhanced by the rain, which continued to pelt heavily, causing the steady change from hard soil to staining mud. The teacher had been careful to avoid the muddier areas, but that did little to save him from the onslaught about to occur.
Felix caught sound of the dog's ecstatic barking before he saw it, a mass of fur bounding towards him at a rapid pace. "HEY! WOAH THERE!" He cried out, bracing himself to be sent flying; thankfully, the dog stopped, skidding in the mud before proceeding to jump up at him instead. Felix couldn't help but laugh, holding one hand out defensively in some effort to try and save his clothing. It was however too late, his jacket and trousers were already pathed in pawprints. The teacher continued to laugh, reaching out a hand once he'd given up trying to defend himself, ruffling the dog's wet fur with a grin. Felix's attention then shifted to a rather drenched young lady, who rushed up to him apologising for what Felix guessed was her pet. "It's okay, don't worry about it," He smiled warmly, giving the young woman a nod as he continued to ruffle the dog's fur, much to it's excitement. Felix's smile then wavered, as he noted the sorry state the girl was in. "... Here." He held out his hand holding the umbrella, offering it to the female. He gave a light hearted shrug as the rain began to dampen his form. "I know it won't help much, but it'll save you getting washed away, miss."

Well; phew. At least the guy was the nice kind, and not one of those people who exploded simply because they couldn't handle some rain, which naturally, caused the redhead to explode right back at them. She was a fierce little thing - that much was for certain. She often covered up the anger with a playful comment or a flirty smile. It seemed to get her much further than running around yelling at people would. "I'm afraid he's far too easily excited for his own good," the redhead said, her hazel eyes never once leaning the surprisingly handsome guy standing in front of her; he had clean features, hair that was either light brown or sandy blonde - it was hard to tell and gorgeous eyes. And that smile too, damn.
He was even polite. What a gentleman.
Chuckling, Veronica lifted her hand in protest. "I'm afraid it won't do much good at this rate, but thank you." After all, her hair and clothes were already so soaked they was clinging to her face and body. Honestly, she couldn't really get any wetter at this point, so letting the guy keep his umbrella would at least prevent one of them from looking like a drowned cat.
With that, the redhead bent down to grab Newt's collar. She hooked his leash back on and roped him in, in an attempt to prevent the overgrown pup from making this poor guy's clothes even dirtier.

The poor woman had clearly been caught off guard by the weather's onslaught, her hair was a limp mess struck to her face, her clothes soaked through and clinging to her skin. With the season already in the full throw of winter, the poor girl would catch a cold or some other illness if she didn't get herself dry relatively soon. The teacher glanced down at the state of his own clothes, now damp and streaked with muddy pawprints; He couldn't exactly return to work looking like he'd just mud wrestled with a dog. He glanced over towards where his apartment was situated. It wasn't far, but then again he didn't exactly what to come across as some weird stranger who invites women he'd just met to his home, even if it was an innocent offer to help her dry off. He then smiled, before pointing with his thumb over towards the centre of town. "Well, how about I get you a coffee in a warm shop instead? It might help you to dry off," He offered. "There's a place in town that's dog friendly, I doubt they'd mind a few muddy pawprints."
Felix couldn't merely leave the poor woman, drenched as she was. He then paused, realising that he hadn't even introduced himself yet. "... My name's Felix, Felix Nicholas," He spoke politely, before shifting his gaze from her; With the world in the state it was in, Felix never knew if he should openly admit right away that he was a teacher at the Academy... Since it branded him a mutant right off, and he did not know this girl's position on that heated debate. "... I've only recently moved into town. I used to live here a few years ago... But I just can't seem to get this town out of my system, so here I am." He grinned, a touch goofily, before gesturing away from the park with his free hand. "We could share my umbrella. At least you wouldn't get... Well, any more drenched."

Veronica's eyebrows shot up at the mention of a coffeehouse; either, this guy didn't waste any time at all, or he was genuinely such a good guy he just had to save every lost soul that he came across. Not that Veronica was ever in need of saving (yeah, right), but hey. She could appreciate the gesture too, if anything. Besides, the guy was hot. She'd be total fool to turn this down. "Sounds good to me," she smiled. "You really don't waste any time, do you?" she added with a laugh, her head shaking, although her eyes never left his.
Nicholas... Why did that sound so familiar. Snapping her fingers, the redheads brows furrowed. "Wait, wait, I know that name, uhhh," she said out loud - although more so to herself, because apparently Veronica didn't own any social manners whatsoever. "Oh, isn't that the name of that hotel business ordeal?" she asked, her eyebrow quirking in curiosity. Damn, hot and rich? Holy shit. "Oh, and I'm Veronica Frye." So the guy used to live here a few years ago? Did that mean he'd attended the academy and she hadn't noticed him before? Well, that surely was a shame. If he had, maybe they didn't run in the same circles... Not that Veronica had any circles, but still. "I guess I can relate," she smiled. "I've lived here ever since I was a wee teen and well-" she spread her arms. "-here I am."
Nodding at the umbrella comment, Veronica stepped closer to the guy so she could fit under his umbrella; she still didn't see the point, but the guy had insisted and she'd rather not insult someone kind enough to ask her to drink coffee after her dog had just assaulted him.

Felix's smile widened when the young woman agreed to his offer of a cup of likely overly priced coffee. At least it would allow the poor girl to dry off, however slightly; That, and she seemed to be a genuinely pleasant person, and the teacher was always up for a warm drink with a kind soul. Her comment caught him off guard, and Felix couldn't help a sheepish grin eclipsing his lips with a small chuckle, his free hand finding his hair and running through it. "Call it a random act of kindness," He replied brightly. He hoped the young woman didn't think he was flirting... Felix was far from ready to step into the dating scene just yet. Still, perhaps he was being presumptuous... Perhaps she merely liked to playfully flirt.
He then found himself blinking at the female, before he looked away from her, his sheepish smile remaining; His family name wasn't exactly a secret, but it wasn't something he bragged about nor brought up unless the need called for it. Felix wasn't embarrassed about it, but more he merely didn't see it as being a defining factor about himself. "... Ah, my family's reputation proceeds me... The CEO of Nicholas Hotels is my Father." He then laughed a little. "Although, as you can see, I differed from the family business." Felix then paused, wondering if he should mention where he worked now; It would be a natural continuation to his previous comment, and he supposed that if it was something she was opposed to, he would at least know that she wouldn't be a frequent coffee companion. "... I work at the Academy. One of the new additions to the staff." He gave her a nod, before stepping closer to the young woman, moving his umbrella to provide what canopy he could over them both. Her dog was walking close to his legs, getting further mud across his trousers, although by this point Felix saw them as a lost cause until he could deal with them at home. "So, what do you do here, Veronica?" He questioned with a smile, curious to where she worked; He certainly didn't recognise her outright, but then Felix had not been home in Kalispell for long.
