First Punch

How did this happen again?
Who cares? Look out idiot!

Focus drawn back and arms raised, Kirk deflected the incoming fireball with his light shield. Teeth grit and ears rang as the small crowd around him yelled. Shield tested again as another fireball was thrown at him.

Stop pussy-footing around! Beat the guy to the ground!
This is starting to get on my nerves.

Agreement reached, Kirk pressed onwards towards his opponent. Heat ignored and path determined, Kirk made sure he charged the other boy so he wouldn't have time to run away and start lobbing fire at him again. Feet paused and arm moved, slamming the other boy with the shield. Other arm moved as Kirk followed up with his gauntleted hand and slammed the boy in the face with a right hook. Momentum added with hardness and the boy went down. Movement halting, Kirk stared down.

Ha! What a wimp! One hit and he's out like a light!
That..... Was pretty awesome.
If only you weren't such a wuss normally.
Shut it Andy. But seriously, what did I do to the guy? I was just bumped into him and he went off on me.
Who cares?! You owned him in one hit! No one's gonna let him live that down!
Yeah and he'll probably try to find me and get revenge or something.

Eyes rolled and a smile was fought off before Kirk let his gauntlet and shield fade away. However, Kirk noticed something. Ears listened and head turned, Kirk realized the group that had been pushing him and the other boy had gone silent. Eyes observed and dread formed as he noticed someone approaching with a certain uniform. Face falling, Andy and Kirk shared the same thought.

It was kind of ironic that now Devyn was expected to break up fights and help out with the whole keeping order deal. It was not too long ago that she was the one involved in a fight and some staff was coming to break it up or dealing with kids that were running away from her. Sure she had been on the squad before and she was still on Beta, but with what happened, everyone was expected to step on and take on a bit more expectations that came alone with the job. That meant in Devyn's case, they had felt she was best at breaking fights, and she had to agree with them on that front.

Kids who knew her at the school would have been smart enough to stop what they were doing when she would show up and now she had an uniform to add to that power. She had been called to break up a fight in particular this time, one that had to deal with people using their powers; which was a big no-no. Yes students were expected to train and use their powers, but there were only allowed to use them against other students in certain places, and this was not one of the places. Still, Devyn could not help but to smirk as she strolled up just as the fight looked like it was either going to end or take a really interesting twist.

"Now, everyone here should know that using your powers in a fight is against the rules. Fighting in general is against the rules." Devyn spoke up, unable to get the smirk completely off of her face just from the twist of events that had her end up here in life. "I'm going to need everyone’s names and to hear who started what. Don't even think about running." Devyn said as she caused every one of their shadows to move around a little below their feet. She then pointed to Kirk since he was the last one she saw using his powers when she showed up. "Name?" Dev asked.

Just our luck to have one of those stupid Sec's come and break up the fun.
Andy, it's against the rules like she's saying now! Hell, we did worse by using our powers!
Oh whatever. Blame the asshole lying cold on the ground. He was the one to start everything.
Dude, excuses like those only works like that in movies, and even then usually not.
Screw you, Kirk. Besides, it's not like you can explain yourself anyways mutey.

A slight frown, Kirk sadly knew Andy was correct in that regard at least. He would have a hard time trying to explain himself. Ears listened, Kirk sighed a little as she said she'd need names. She asked for his first, which sadly made sense to Kirk. Hands clapped together and focus pulled, Kirk separated his hands to reveal his full name "Kirk Morrowik" floating in the air between in plain letters. He wasn't feeling as up to a flashy text since he was in trouble.

Devyn could understand how it was kind of hard to not use you power when you got into a fight, especially if your power came in hand; or if the other person used their power first. Devyn personally preferred to only use her power for intimidation first when she would end up having to deal with a power fight and most of the time people were smart to not go up against her. Of course, that was not always the case and when it was not the case she often saw the detention room becoming like a forced hangout location for herself.

The same would happen to these kids if they didn’t shape up and at least try to take their fights to places where they were allowed to used their power so they could sort of get away with a bit more. Loop holes and all, but none of that mattered right now since Dev was supposed to be all scolding and collecting information. Information that the kid decided to use his power to display instead of saying something. Dev wondered for a moment if he was trying to be all tough and use his power after hearing what she said. That could not be the case, not by how the guy was looking and how he technically was not fighting with his power at the moment.

“Alright, thanks. Everyone else, just say them after I give a nod.” Devyn said as she pulled out a little notebook on her uniform. She wrote down the kids name, gave a nod, and would repeat the process until she had all of their names down. “You, what happened here?” Devyn asked one of the other kids, since the one kid had to be a mute or something; or maybe just didn’t like to talk. She wanted to hear both sides of the story anyways; even if she would be hearing one and likely reading the other. Once she got the other guys story she was looking back at the other guy.

She hesitated for a moment to figure out how to make this easy on her and him. “Quick question, can you not speak or you don’t like to speak. Hold up one finger if it’s the first and if it’s the second, well say something.” Devyn spoke up, wanting to get that established first.

A relieved sigh, Kirk was glad the girl didn't yell at him for using his power. He could use sign language, but part of him felt she didn't exactly do it. Ears listened and eyes watched as she proceeded to get everyone else's name. When she asked one of the spectators, the boy she asked cringed little.

"Well... As far as I know that one kid ran into the other guy who's out cold now.He got really pissy about it and took this guy out here to fight. He was a real hothead. Uh, no pun intended." He added quickly, shrinking back a little. A small smirk forming, Kirk couldn't help but be amused by the tiny pun.

Smile faded as the girl turned back to him and seemed to regard him for a time. Ears caught as she asked him a question. He was glad she was making this a bit easier for him, although she probably wanted it to be easy for herself too. Hand moved as Kirk held up one finger to signal he couldn't speak even if he wanted to.
