Well, Thomas wasn't strictly here to shop. He was mostly bored and it was too early to head to a club. The mall was such a typical place for teenagers to go, but he didn't mind so much. It got him off of that god-awful campus at the very least. Sure, there were way too many people, but his power just sort of faded into the background if he could manage to find a spot far enough away from the main horde. It was why he'd picked out a tiny corner table for two in the pastry shop to sit and eat his chocolatey delicacy.
Despite his power, Thomas was anything but a hermit. He liked being around people, just not when their myriads of emotions overpowered him. In his own little corner, he could observe without being overwhelmed by the intensity of every single person who happened to walk by. People watching had become more of a hobby since he now found interacting with them for any length of time to be exhausting. He could usually handle one-on-one well enough, but being in groups or in classes wore him out in a matter of minutes.
Along with his interest in people watching, Thomas also had a thing for pretty men and women who crossed his path, like the girl who'd just made her way inside the little pastry shop. Thomas flashed her his most charming smile and indicated the seat across from him with a nod of his head. Perhaps this day wouldn't be quite as abysmal as he'd originally thought.

She'd gone to the mall for a change mostly. That and she needed a new pair of sneakers as she'd worn the toes in the last ones out pretty much completely. But everyone became hungry at some point, and when she saw the pastry shop, she suddenly realized it was her time to give in to that urge. Cassidy walked in and then she saw a guy waving to her. She honestly had no idea who he was, but he looked familiar somehow. Maybe he was from the academy? She lined up, bought a cherry Danish and then walked over to the table. Hey, it was better than sitting alone. What was the worst he could do? It wasn't like she felt anything much these days anyways.
"Hello? Who are you? Not that it much matters, but you did wave me over and so it makes me wonder if you have anything in particular to say to me. Can't be about a jilted lover of mine. Haven't got any in this area." Or most of the world really.

Thomas raised a brow at her indifference and couldn't stop the smile that crossed his features. Wow, a real socialite, huh? "No, I'm afraid I'm not a jilted lover. Though I could be if you want," he offered with a smirk. "And not anything in particular that matters per se, just thought I'd offer you a seat where you wouldn't have to eat alone," he replied easily. He had a feeling that commenting on her beauty might not get him too far with this one.
Not that Thomas minded. She seemed to be rather emotionless and he found himself highly appreciative of that. It was rare that he could talk to someone without their mood affecting him in some way or another. This would definitely be a nice change, and hey, he didn't have to eat alone either, so it was a win-win for once.

She chuckled and shook her head.
"Nope I'd rather not. I already have one thanks. He's really pissed at me last I checked too." Taking a guy's legs and then leaving for a boarding school soon after kind of had that effect on people. Go figure.
"It does make a nice change not to have to eat alone, but be warned I'm not always such a great conversationalist. I will try though. I'm Cassidy."

Thomas laughed at that, "Well, as far as I know, I have no reason to be pissed at you," he offered with a smile.
"That's alright, I may end up speaking enough for the both of us. According to some, I have a tendency to talk far too much. Perhaps we'll even each other out," he admitted. "And it's a pleasure to meet you Cassidy, I'm Thomas," he replied warmly. "Though, hopefully the chocolate will at least distract me for a time," he then added with a half laugh before taking a bite out of his chocolate pastry and enjoying it thoroughly before swallowing and taking a sip of coffee.

"Chocolate makes the world go 'round...isn't that a song or something? If it's not it totally should be." She shrugged. She took a bite of her Danish and washed it down with some coffee she'd bought.
"Although to be fair, this cherry Danish is delicious too."
