The wind blew, just a soft breeze, but it cooled the sweat on Casey's skin. She was bent over at the waist, her hands on her knees, taking deep breaths of the cool air. The moon hovered over her, bright in the sky and the energy it gave Casey flowed through her. Sure she needed to catch her breath, having been out there for a bit, but she still didn't feel tired. She figured she had a good bit left in her before she'd feel like hell the next day. That's the thing about the energy, she didn't really know how to expend it, at least not safely. The last time she felt even close to normal was after she'd shot that energy blast at the other student. She was too scared to even try and harness her power again like that. So running. Running helped release the energy.
With a deep breath she took off again. The rhythmic slapping of her shoes on the ground beneath her was all she heard. She wasn't just on a track though, she had decided that running around the whole school would be better, more scenic and a lot bigger, so soon the slapping on cement was replaced by soft thudding as her feet hit grass again. With her head down and her thoughts running through a song she'd heard earlier in the day she wasn't prepared for the sudden, slightly painful, stop she came too, landing on something soft.
Confusion and panic ensued as her arms came down hard on the ground. "Ouch" she said, wincing. Finally her eyes settled on what she'd run into, and literally fell on and they widened, "Oh my god! I'm so sorry, I wasn't even paying attention. I was singing in my head." She stopped talking and stared at the girl she'd fallen on.
