Vaginas Have Teeth, You Know

Okay, so Kyle was hard at work at gathering up his crew and establishing his rep and all. He'd only been here for a bit, but he knew that you had to work fast. People made their judgments within just a short month or so, and Kyle had every intention to make the biggest possible splash that he could. First on getting the whole nerd population to think he was a god (working on it), then on getting the other artist types on his side (so easy), and he needed to work on his reputation among the ladies. Wasn't hard to figure out which girl was "that girl" on campus. Wasn't hard to find her, though catching her had taken a bit of doing.

Now Kyle caught her in the lounge, which meant she was definitely in the right mood. Smiling, he strode right up to her, leaning over her seat. "Hey there," he said, sliding his voice into its most velvety register. "You're Selina, right? Selina Taylor?" He nodded, already confident in his guess. "I've heard a lot about you, all good," he held up a hand to further reassure her. "Good enough that I'm about to let you know why we're going to go out. I know you're already interested, and you're probably thinking I'm about to embarrass myself. But I promise you that this isn't something you want to pass up."

He gave her a wink and adjusted again. "So, you ready to hear why you're going to go on a date with me?"

    Selina looked up as a guy walked into the lounge, slightly surprised as he made his way straight to her. Did she know him? Had she had a one night stand with him and forgotten already? She’d only been here for just over a year, but she supposed it was possible. She paused at his greeting, her smile turning lascivious in nature at his tone, regardless of whether or not she knew him, this would be interesting. “Hey yourself,” she responded easily.


    She nodded at his question about her name, though he didn’t seem to need the confirmation. So perhaps they hadn’t met? Ahh, he’d heard about her. That explained it. All good though? She absently wondered which people he’d been talking to. Perhaps she needed to expand her list of friends. Wait, what was that? Going out?


    Selina eyed him warily, “It depends on what you mean by going out,” she replied honestly. “I don’t do exclusive relationships,” she offered up front. She then studied him in curiosity for a brief moment before grinning and shrugging her shoulders, “But sure, why not? Tell me, why I should go on a date with you, and your name would be nice too,” she added with a small smirk.

Kyle did a little head bob as she responded to his hey with one of her own. Yeah, that's right: he was totally picking up what she was laying down. Right up until she started talking about exclusivity. "Whoa, whoa there," he said, holding up his hands and doing an exaggerated reel back. "I was just talking about a nice date in public, not putting a ring on it. Not like we're gonna be meeting the parents or exchanging promise rings or something."

Kyle finished heading over to plunk down next to her. "Oh, I'm saving the name for a bit, Selina," he said. "Even if I know you're probably thinking it's so not fair, since I get to fling yours around like it's my new favorite thing. But you gotta brace yourself for that. Now," he adjusted, rolling his shoulders slightly, "you should go out with me for reasons beyond," he gestured at himself, "the obvious. Mostly because I'm going to be the biggest thing to blow up, and when I do, you can be right there to say that you were on the ground level," he gestured outward, as if sliding his hand. "You're also already digging this whole super confident thing, figuring that I'm just this side of cocky. Plus, and here's that bit, you braced?" Kyle reached around her, patting down. "I don't want you falling out of your seat. Would suck if you got damaged before we get to be seen in public," he pulled a slight face.

"But yeah, here's the thing: I'm Kyle Underly," he gave his brows a bounce, "and since you're probably like 'why should I give a fuck,'" he nodded toward her phone, "I'll give you a few moments to Google me. Spelled like it sounds. One 'L'."

    Selina grinned at his reaction and almost laughed when he mentioned the rings, “Good,” was her simple reply. Really, that made things so much simpler. She could never tell when people talked about “dating.” Some took it so incredibly seriously, while this one seemed to have the right idea, or at least an idea similar to hers at any rate.


    Selina raised a brow at the whole name thing, but let him keep talking, which he seemed perfectly fine with doing. She smiled as he gestured to himself, but didn’t find a need to cut down his ego as she agreed with him. But “damaged”? What the hell was he on about? “I don’t get damaged easily,” she offered, a warning in her tone. It was partly to let him know that if he tried anything she didn’t like, she could and would beat the shit out of him, but it was also just sort of standard procedure for how she dealt with men.


    Selina glanced down at her ancient Nokia flip phone and looked back up at him, “Sorry, my phone doesn’t exactly have internet service.” She’d been meaning to change that recently, since she’d gotten a new job and everything, but she just hadn’t gotten around to it yet. “But for what it’s worth, I believe you,” she offered with another shrug. Famous or not, she was usually only interested in one thing when it came to men, “So tell me, oh famous one, just what exactly did you have in mind for this date?” she asked with a wicked smile.

Good, well, Selina wasn't one to bandy words, was she? Would make the whole dating thing a bit awkward, but Kyle knew he could work with it. He pretty well just needed her as arm candy. Hell, he'd pay her if he had to. Just had to make sure that she stayed all amiable to him and--

Oh crap, she was getting offended. "Whoa, it's cool, really. Just talking about the face," he gestured at himself. "Gotta keep the money maker intact. Okay," he shrugged, "maybe that only applies to me, but, hey, no need to chance it, right?" Plus, she was attractive, he guessed. Kyle was pretty good at figuring out which girls were "hot" though sometimes he couldn't help but wonder why none of them really seemed to interest him. He just figured he was waiting for the right one to come along.

Not that he expected Selina to be that one. "Oh, damn," Kyle said as she pulled out an ancient phone. "You got yourself a dinosaur right there, Lina. But hey, if you're willing to take me on word, then you should also know that I'm awesome to hang out with. And that," he nodded, "would be the date. We'd go somewhere nice and public, I'd get you something nice, we'd eat, we'd talk, I'd take you home, again: where people would see us and all. And then we'd, I don't know, kiss or something. End of the date stuff. End scene," he drew his hand down in front of him, head bobbing, then gave her his best "you know you wanna" look.

    Selina nodded at his answer and smiled, "I can get that," she offered easily enough. Intimidation was all well and good, but even she was capable of recognizing when a guy wasn't being malicious. She also understood keeping up appearances for the sake of keeping a job and didn't begrudge him his concerns in the slightest, though she'd mostly dealt with it in the context of covering up bruises with make-up so people didn't make the wrong assumptions or ask stupid questions.

     Selina laughed at his comment on her phone and shrugged, "I know. I've been meaning to replace it. If I ever get around to remembering," she added, mostly to herself.  She listened and nodded as he described the date before pausing after he mentioned the 'End scene'. "Sounds fine with me," she replied simply. 

    She wondered at the fact that it ended with kissing at the door or whatever, but he seemed far more concerned with appearances than with actual substance, which was fine with her, but she was curious... "Forgive me if I'm being blunt, but you don't want anything more than a kiss?" she asked with a slightly suggestive tone. Surely if he'd "heard" about her, then he was well aware of her reputation. She didn't mind if he wasn't into sex, she just wanted to know what was expected.

the laughter had Kyle grinning. Yeah, he could still totally get on someone's good side, particularly a pretty girl. He was almost tempted to make some sort of offer for a phone, but he didn't quite want to hit that point yet. Besides, he needed to keep a few cards hidden up his sleeves, just in case, particularly with a player like Selina.

"Excellent," he said as she agreed, nodding and clapping. "Now, we--" before he could continue, however, Kyle found himself stopping as Selina asked about the bluntness. He looked at her for a few times, thinking he heard something suggestive in there. Right, she was, right, he should've anticipated this. He let out a chuckle. "Well, I'm not saying that's off the table or anything, and I'd be more than willing to blow your mind," which he would, mostly by turning her down since even with her practically purring he just felt... lots of nothing. Yay. "I'm not really looking to make a sex tape just yet. I'd rather get up a bit in notice first, then maybe we can revisit that. I'm more of a music video type person anyway, and I'm sure you'd look good on video."

Another little bit of bait, even if it would just be for one of his YouTube hits. Wouldn't be the first time he gave a pretty girl her first bit of exposure, and Selina did have a dancer's build. Certainly enough for Kyle to at least work with.

    Selina merely nodded as he continued. Her ears perking up at the whole idea of being in a video, though not perhaps in the way he would have expected. "Hmm, so, this is essentially a business deal? I help you out by being arm candy or whatever and you help me out by putting me in a video?" she asked as she studied him.

    To be perfectly honest, she didn't give a damn about being famous and generally preferred to remain somewhat out of the spotlight, but if she'd guessed right, then she could use this situation to her advantage. Money was the first thing that came to mind, as it almost always did, but being able to hold a favor over his head was tempting too.

     Selina wasn't entirely sure what she wanted form him yet, but he seemed like the type that could be useful to have in her pocket, so to speak. She had plenty of time to make up her mind though, as this didn't exactly sound like a one-time deal. Besides, from the way it sounded, he wasn't exactly star status yet, so she didn't have to worry too much. And if it ever ended up being too much work, she could easily just leave, so she didn't see too much of a downside to it.

"Now you're getting it. They didn't say you were smart too," Kyle let out a slight laugh, nodding a few times. "That's pretty much it. The video thing's negotiable and all. I mean," he let out a slight laugh, pointing at himself, "you're going to get to go out with me too. Works for both of us, you see?" He gestured between them. "I will, of course, expect you to say good things about me to your friends and all, and I will, of course, do the same for you. I'll even give you a shout out on my channel," he gave her a magnanimous smile, trying to show just how very generous he was being. Really, considering that she'd gained her reputation mainly for being able to spread her legs for the right people, she should really be all for this sort of thing. Not that Kyle was going to say or even think that: he wanted to get on her good side nad he didn't know what she had up her sleeve.

"We'll have to pick a good venue too. Cafeteria's a bit too tame, but we definitely need to be seen. You've been here a while: surely you know where the hottest spots in town are? You know,' he leaned over slightly, "where all the local celebrities go." Another suggestive slant of the eyebrows there, just to further fluff her ego.

    Selina raised a brow at that comment, "And here I thought it was all good," she mused with a half-smile. Of course, she didn't really give too much of a damn, but it was all amusing nonetheless. "You don't have to worry about a video. I'm not interested in being under any type of spotlight," she replied easily. "What I want... I'll let you know when it comes to me," she finished as she thought it over.

    Selina eyed him in wary interest, "Hate to break it to you, but I have a job and school work as well as actual friends, so my time will be rather expensive," she replied simply in response to his thought that going out with him would be a reward in and of itself. She already had one job, plus the security gig, so she wasn't strapped for cash like she once had been and she was actually able to negotiate terms. "And the shout out isn't necessary. If I'm being paid to say good things about you, you don't need to say good things about me in return. We'll be even in terms of payment already. I can handle myself in terms of PR," she added wryly.

    Selina shrugged, "I know the popular places for college students, sure," she replied simply. She didn't really buy much into bullshit, even when it was worded so prettily.

Well, this was intriguing, intriguing enough that Kyle had to actually lean back and temple his fingers together. She wasn't interested in any type of spotlight? And she said it like she meant it, with this sort of casual offhandedness that people generally reserved for something that they were easy to dismiss. She wanted something undefined, which was intriguing in a frustrating sort of way.

Now she seemed to be drawing terms, which was definitely more of Kyle's language. "Well, obviously I'll be paying for the meal. And you just can't have a first date without giving some gifts," he gestured toward Selina, more importantly, he gestured toward Selina's phone, figuring that would be a hint. She claimed not to want a shout-out or PR. "Trust me: the shout-out's going to happen. I need to be public about going out with you, remember? Kind of the point here." Yeah, he'd phrased it to benefit her, and he had no doubt it would. Hundreds of girls would just be dying to be in her position, probably some guys too.

"Excellent! Tell you what," he nodded and gestured toward her, "you pick the spot. I'm sure that wherever's fine. I'll be picking you up at your dorm room, and we'll be driven out to wherever. After walking through the school, of course."

    Selina nodded to him at the mention of the shout-out, "Alright, if the whole shout-out thing is part of what you're paying me for, I can accept that. In terms of the actual date? The meal, the phone and 200$ is good for a start. I value my time highly," she told him, her eyes cold and her expression pure business.

    She wasn't really interested in playing games with notoriety as being too well known had a far greater cost than she was normally willing to pay, but if she was being compensated for her trouble, she didn't mind the thought so much. Besides, in this shitty economy, she'd take what she could get. "And the hours will be negotiated with me. If you want me to ever be on call, that's extra," she offered. "My job and my schooling come first regardless of what happens, so if this ever interferes with either, I'm done," she told him.

    "The place? Dirty Little Secrets," she said with a sly smile. How would pretty boy handle Burlesque? She was interested. Besides, there were business deals going on in that club all the time and some important people were a part of it. Even a couple of the Bellefontes if she remembered right.

Kyle nodded along with the shout out thing, continuing and going right along as she kept going. The meal, the phone, and... two hundred too? Kyle had to raise his brows at that. Well, she wasn't exactly lowballing. "You value your time really highly. You do know how much phones cost, right?" Because she was nearly asking for five hundred when it all came together. Okay, yeah, Kyle effectively had a closest full of phones that he'd gotten for being famous and all, several of which were older models. He figured he could just offer up some sort of past gen iPhone or something and be just fine.

Hours are in her negotiation? "It'll be on your time," he agreed, nodding and gesturing. "And look at you, making all these hard and fast demands. You're definitely someone who knows what she wants. Dirty Little Secrets is fine by me," he didn't know what that was, but he figured he could figure out before he went there. Given the name, it was probably a strip club or something. Those were sometimes distracting, but they weren't really that unnerving. He'd been to much worse.

"Meal," he began ticking off, "phone, and let's say one hundred up front, additional to be paid as per satisfaction," and to seal the door, he started digging into his pocket, pulling out the wallet and showing it.

    Selina just chuckled at his shocked response, "Consider the phone a sign-on bonus and two hundred to be my going rate," she responded, as cool as ever. The fact that he'd been willing to even think about going that high had her confident in her choice. She had worked out contracts and pay with employers before, this was not so different. Selina wasn't willing to be stiffed by this guy. 

    He'd been trying to get her services for free, so he could pay the price for that little mistake too. She didn't let people take advantage no matter famous or smooth talking they might be. She wasn't really interested in allowing others to have a high ground over her. Power imbalances in relationships weren't something she ever fucked with.

    At his counter offer, her grin was wolfish, "One hundred up front, one hundred when the job is done. You can tip extra if I've done so well." Selina glanced down at his wallet and was happy he was willing to uphold his end of the bargain.

Well, she certainly knew the terminology, Kyle had to give her that much. Still: "You get paid by royalties and performance. Trust me," he smirked, "I know all too well." Again, she'd have to Google him later. Bit disappointing that she hadn't immediately recognized him or anything like that, but hey, she was still willing enough to go along with it, even if it was going to cost him a bit. If he got the right publicity from it though, it could be worth every penny.

He dug out the wad of money from his pocket, licked his lips and started flicking through bills. "You'd better be willing to tell everybody here that I swept you off your feet and am a great lover or something," he looked up at her, not able to completely hide his agitation. "I want to get my money's worth, after all," he smirked and then pulled out the twenties. He held them between his fingers, slid them enough so she could see that there were indeed five, and then extended them toward her.
