Alpha Among Humans

Why was it that Devyn was being told yet again what to do? It was still summer break; she should have been free to enjoy herself as she pleased. Okay, so this was not all that bad and it did feel pretty awesome that the school was putting her skills to good use. Apparently there was a new student that was having a hard time adjusting to life at the school and was being watched to make sure she didn't run away or something. There were woods that would be a great escape but you would end up running into the mountains with where the woods on the school grounds were located so it was not as if she would get super far. Still, all the same there was some worry so Devyn was asked to go make friends with the girl seeing how Devyn was very wolf like.

They kind of left it vague what the girl's power was but it was pretty obvious that she had to be a mutant with some kind of dog or wolf related mutation if they wanted Devyn to meet her and sort of look after her. How odd it was to be told to basically go make friends but Devyn had no problem making friends, nor did she have a problem quickly finding the girl. They probably should have sent demi with how this girl seems to like to be dirty. Devyn thought to herself as she got a good look at the girl. She was still cute in a way, the 'I’m going to bite your head off if you get too close to me' kind of way. Of course Devyn was not scared or bothered too much by the look at the moment as she gave the girl a wave.

"Yo, why are you all the way out here by yourself? You know there is going to be a big thunderstorm tonight, right?" Devyn asked getting to the most important thing. Devyn personally had no problem with storms but she didn't like to be out in them if she could help it, epically thunder storms and being in the woods. That was just asking for a problem.

Of course, Lupe spent as much time as she possibly could as far as she possibly could from the structures that held the infernal humans. So naturally she ran out to the woods, keeping as far out as she could before the mental block would restrain her and prevent her from going further. She had already learned the borders of where she could and could not go. As much as it infuriated her, she was still happier to be out in the woods than anywhere near the human academy. She couldn't stand them. All their rituals and their insistence on making her more human of all things.

Why on earth would I want to be like those pathetic creatures? She had thought bitterly as she tore into a deer she had killed. She didn't care at all about how the blood would make her look as she simply devoured. Once she had eaten her fill, she had run off, to explore what she could. And then their was the smell of a storm on the air as well. She could feel it in her bones and from how her hairs raised slightly. She glanced up at the sky with a frown crouched on the ground on all fours.

Storms weren't that much of a problem. She had dealt with them many, many times before. But evidently, that bothered someone at the school. Because all of the sudden she caught the scent of a human approaching her. Lupe whirled, her face set in a snarl as she growled inhumanly, eying the human female that approached her. The girl mentioned the storm and Lupe's lips curled into an expression of contempt. Of course she knew there was a storm coming. She probably could sense it better than these humans. Lupe decided to stand at her full, towering height, glowering at the girl. It was quite a sight to behold, with the still fresh blood caked to her mouth and arms, some extending to her upper arms as well. The fact that she was only wearing a black bra and shorts to reveal the hundreds of scars, scabs, and bruises that trailed along her well muscled body and defined eight pack abs definitely added to her threatening appearance.

"What I want, human." She finally answered in a snarl. "And Yes, I know."

The other girl was growling and Devyn only really knew the person was a girl by the fact that she was wearing a bra and had long hair. Her facial structure also gave away that she was female but she certainly was a messy on. Devyn didn't have a problem with people being dirty, but it was one thing to be dirty and another to be covered in blood. That later was just a no-no for more than just a health concern. A few sniffs made it clear that it was not human blood so that was a plus other than for whatever animal she had killed and decided to eat raw.

Devyn liked her food rare but she had only ever 'eaten' it raw in her other form and even then she was not actually eating it. So a small part of her was a bit concerned or grossed out at the moment but she didn't think too much on it. The girl, well it was hard to tell if she was sexy or anything with her current state but Devyn easily saw the scars and what not that covered the girl's body. Devyn could relate in terms of her body also being covered in scars; also burns, but the two had likely gotten them by different means. Wait did she call her a human? "Heh, so says the human." Devyn responded back with a small chuckle.

The girl said that yes she knew there was a storm coming and clearly was not bothered by it. Devyn could understand that but she had been told to make sure the girl came in before the storm hit. "Well you are wanted back inside before it hits. There is talk about a flood warning or whatever so the school gets a little worried; especially when we have kids that can manipulate the weather and water. It can lead to some big and unnatural issues." Devyn pointed out as she started to step closer to the girl to get a better look.

Lupe had to admit, she was slightly impressed by the fact that the human didn't squeal or back down at the sight of her. most of the creatures did out of fear at the mere sight of Lupe. The fact that this human female didn't earned a small amount of respect from the feral girl. But only just a little. She still didn't like her, simply because she was a human. One of the creatures that stole her from her pack. And obviously this one had been sent to take her back to more of those thing for her own 'protection' or something. The thought made Lupe frown.

Lupe always ate her food raw when the humans were pestering her with their cooked meat. She didn't understand why the humans were so damn pict about what they ate. It was the same as the way they wore their furs. Always changing it for some unknown reason. Not that Lupe really cared. The human rituals were pointless to her unless it was something she needed simply to survive amongst these creatures. Thats the only reason she wore clothes in the first place.

But then the girl called her a human and Lupe's nostrils flared as her expression turned to one of absolute rage. "I am not a human!" She roared, her bloodied claws flexing anxiously. She longed to tear into the insolent human for even mentioning that. "I only had the misfortune of being born in this damn human body." She stated sharply, glancing down at herself with a scowl before looking back at Devyn.

The female human mentioned something about a flood and how she was wanted back at the academy. Probably by the academy's Alphas. The pack leaders of the human school. For a while, Lupe said nothing, instead stubbornly staring off into the woods, her rage still simmering from being called a human. When Devyn started slowly approaching her, Lupe's piercing eyes snapped back at her and she observed the girl warily, eyes narrowed into slits as her nostrils flared. True, with all the blood and dirt and the hostile expression she wore, Lupe didn't seem like one of the prettiest girls. She was dirty from head to toe. Yet, as Devyn approached, it was evident that the potential was there. Even with all the blood and the wary look, her face was pretty. If she was cleaned up right and not scowling, she could even be considered utterly gorgeous. She had a great build too. But, as it stood, she just looked feral currently.

"Not another step." She said, nostrils flaring once she deemed Devyn had gotten close enough.

Ooo, she did not like that. Devyn thought to herself as the girl was clearly upset at being called a human. So then she was one of the people that thought they were an animal or something or maybe an alien. Devyn didn't know the girl's backstory and it was not like the school staff that asked her to bring the girl back had told her everything. The school was still considerate of the students and didn't just tell all the person's business to someone. It was why Devyn had to make a guess at what their girl's power was, but it was quickly becoming clear what it was.

"Riiiight, and I'm not a girl." Devyn responded. Of course she was one hundred percent female and would not have a problem showing that she was if it came to that. The other girl spoke of how she just ended up being born in a human body. "Yeah, so that makes you human. You don't have to like it but it is what you are. Plus being human is not so bad." Devyn responded as she gave a small shrug. She wondered if she should be taking a different approach to this sort of thing but Devyn was the kind of person where things were just as they were and nothing else. Anything else just got too complicated for no reason.

Devyn was the person that was all about getting a person to like and accept who they were, but she certainly had her work cut out for her with this one. The girl did not say anything when Devyn informed her about the flood, leaving there to be that awkward silence that Devyn never really liked unless she was getting ready for a nap or something that actually required silence. Then there was that glare in her eyes, directed at Devyn. Dev was still not bothered and the girl was only two inches or so taller than Devyn so the height was not really helping with changing Devyn feeling at the moment; which was a little excited.

The other girl; Lupe, certainly could have some potential to her in a lot of way, Dev just had to get Lupe to see it. "Or what? Sorry pup but you don't intimidate me. You will quickly figure out that I'm the alpha in a situation." Devyn said as a smirk spread across her face and she kept moving closer. If the girl was upset in a sad way then Devyn would have been more careful about getting closer, but she was going to move closer no matter what.

When the girl continued talking, Lupe didn't den bother responding. Some kind of remark about not being a girl and then more about the whole human thing, which definitely made Lupe bristle but not respond still. She had heard the humans say that many times before, and she still didn't believe it. She had been some much more at peace with her pack than she had ever been with the humans. How could she be human if all that she hated was human? It made no sense to Lupe, but she hardly cared. All that mattered was that she was more at ease with her wolf kin than these human whelps.

The silence did not bother Lupe because the world was never truly silent for her. She was listening instead her surroundings and the creatures and critters stirring there, her nostrils flaring slightly as she took in scents as well. But As the human talked of how she wasn't scared, Lupe knew it as true. She could not smell the scent of fear coming off the girl as she continued to approach, and Lupe had to admit it was an amazing feat for a human. But then she raised an eyebrow at the comment on being an alpha. "You are no alpha until you prove it." Lupe stated plainly., not rising to the bait of being called a pup. This whelp seemed arrogant. Lupe could deal with that easily, she had before. They were the easiest ones. Even now, there was a glint to Lupe's eye as Devyn grew ever closer, her whole body suddenly stilling as she seemed to divert all her attention to Devyn, standing like a waiting statue

Devyn didn't get a response back to her comment, which she figured would be the case and she honestly didn't mind too much. It was clear that the other girl was set in the way of thinking that she was a wolf just trapped in a human’s body. That must have meant that she was raised by them or lived them for a decent amount of years. So that's her background. Makes perfect sense why they sent me. Devyn thought to herself as she nodded to herself a few times. It was certainly going to be difficult to get the girl to accept that she was indeed human but that was something to worry about for later.

Right now she needed to get the two of them inside before the storm hit and try to get a bond going with the other girl. It would be pretty awesome to have a friend who liked the woods like Devyn did and someone’s who was more wolf-like, again how Devyn was. "Then I guess that means I have to prove it." Devyn said as she started to crack her knuckled and then her neck. The coming store always did make her feel a little tense so she was just releasing some air between her joints. Dev had no problem showing her dominance, but she preferred to do it the way where she didn't have to fight until necessary.

That meant she did things in the way of intimidation and since her current form was not having that effect just yet, it was time to break out the beast. The other girl was technically using her power, or that was at least what Devyn assumed after getting another look at the girl's body. There were just some things that didn't occur natural for humans; like claws sharpened in the manner that Lupe's was. Come to think of it, Devyn never gave her name, but she knew the other girl's name. "The name is Devyn, by the way." Devyn informed her as she started to pull shadows towards her.

It then would not take long at all before the shadows would crawl up Devyn form, covering her completely, reshaping, and forming the shadow beast. She made sure to pull in enough shadows to be a decent high but she didn't go for the largest size she was able to pull off. The shadow smoke then appeared, causing the area around Devyn to start to feel a little colder. The smoke then moved, forming out letters.

Prove it? That statement made Lupe frown slightly, although she stayed stock still as she was, simply eying Devyn as the girl proceeded to crack some of the joints in her neck and knuckles. Maybe she'll break her own neck and save me the trouble. Lupe thought darkly, half wishing that. If the girl would just leave her alone, Lupe could easily find shelter away from the human dwelling. Why must they always interfere?

So the human has a name. How splendid. Let's hope I forget it soon enough Lupe thought as the distant rumble of thunder suddenly sounded in her ears. Her eyes flicked towards where she had heard it before returning to the human in front of her. Only the human wasn't a human anymore. It was a wolf unlike any Lupe had seen. Instantly the hostility left her expression, to be replaced with utter astonishment. But then, just as quickly, suspicion and distrust filled it. "You are... A wolf? Yet... Not a wolf. You don't have a scent like one." Lupe murmured, her body relaxing just a tad but still tense.

Devyn let out a yawn in her new form, not making any sound and was simply doing it to make sure that everything was in its place. She even had sharp teeth and a tongue, all black of course. Every inch of her was as black as the night, with only her eyes being a different color; an almost glowing white without any pupils that looked at the girl before her. Two tails ideally moved around as Devyn was making sure that they both were there as well. Overall she just looked like a pretty large wolf, with the extra tail. While she was made out of shadows, they took on an appearance and even feel of how a wolf's fur would feel; except she was very cold to the touch.

Shadows where the darkness and there was no warmth to be found in the darkness, thus her form was never warm unlike her actual human body which was a lot warmer than the average human being. Lupe was no longer hostile and was not confused. Devyn would have preferred for her to be submitting at the moment, but she would take confusion. She did just turn into a giant shadow beast in front of a girl who viewed herself as a wolf but was stuck with a human form. She likely had a power related to canine physiology, allowing her to get aspects of the canine but not be able to actually turn into one.

Devyn had the shadow smoke spell out, hoping that the girl could actually read the words for one and did in fact no how to read. If not then she was not going to be able to stay in this form for very long. Her shadow smoke was the only way she was able to communicate in this form since she could not actually speak and could only make certain sounds that came out more like they were being whispered. Devyn didn't hesitate to take a step towards the girl, moving her head to reach out to touch the girl with her muzzle and sort of nuzzle her back a little. One so the girl could feel her, two to show a level of dominance, and three because she liked to nuzzle people.

More of those smoke word. Lupe frowned as she read it before glancing down at the large not-wolf in front of her. It seemed as though the human had lost her ability to speak in this form. So she communicates through smoke? Strange. Lupe wondered before tensing as the not-wolf approached. She narrowed her eyes and growled a little as the creature came up to her. What was it doing? But then it ended up nuzzling Lupe and the girl blinked in surprise. Then she frowned and flexed her claws.

However, before she did anything in response, she felt a drop on her head.

And then another. Lupe quickly looked up to see the dark clouds were starting to come over them, and the next boom of thunder sounded much closer. This storm is moving fast. Lupe realized before looking down at the not-wolf. She blamed it for delaying Lupe before she could find appropriate shelter from the storm. Snarling, Lupe glanced back up as already the rain was getting harder. Looks like she had no choice but to run back to that damn school. With a glowering frown to the not-wolf, she took off towards the human dwellings on all fours, moving swiftly to try and stay ahead of the oncoming downpour.

The girl was frowning but she did seem to be reading the letter forming in front of her, so she could at the very least read. It was the only way Devyn could communicate with someone, unless she was dealing with a mind reader. Well, at least she assumed a mind reader would be able to communicate with her but she had never actually tried it. She didn't really have any mind reading friends and that was probably for a reason. Granted, sometimes she wished that she was a mind reader because then a lot of things would have turned out differently over the years. She did however need to stop living with so many regrets, but it was just hard.

Dev had managed to nuzzle the girl, getting a better hold on the girl's scent and was not confident she would be able to find her again, anywhere, and it would be able to track her down a lot faster. Perhaps that was another reason why the school had wanted Devyn to meeting this girl, who was certainly interesting. Devyn could tell that there was something that was intended to happen but then it started to rain. Devyn of course was not bothered by it in the slightest in the form. She would stay completely dry on the inside on the outside the water just rolled right down her. However; Lupe was running off.

Devyn waited for a moment, not wanting to go right after her because the urge to chase her would likely kick in and that would cause a problem. That and Dev was pretty big that she would catch up in no time. She then surged ahead, unable to hold herself back for too long and soon she was quickly chasing after and gaining on the girl who had run. She told herself Lupe was not running from her, but her instincts still were not satisfied. He jaws already opening to reach out to try and grab the girl around her mid-section in order to pick her up. At least Devyn did make sure to modify her teeth so they would not be sharp and instead ideal for gripping.

Soon enough, Lupe smelled the not-wolf approaching her, and gaining fast. She picked up speed, trying to keep away from the other creature, but suddenly found jaws clamped around her. This of course made Lupe instinctively attack. The girl thrashed in the jaws like a slippery seal, clawing and whatever she could of Devyn's shadow form as they continued off towards the school. The rain was really coming down now, but Lupe had forgotten about it in her rage.

It really was not that hard to catch someone’s when you were larger than them and your body was actually built to run on all four. The other girl was fast of course, but Dev was still faster and soon had her prey in her jaws. Well, not prey but her target that she had viewed as prey for a moment because the other girl ran. Devyn typically made it very clear that someone’s should not run from her when she was in her other form; because she tended to always chase them. There was something that just escaped from her when she saw someone running. The only reason why she didn't tell Lupe that was she could not form enough letters to do so and she had been planning on intimidating the girl.

Typically a world would submit before it would run off, but the rain had to be why the girl had dashed away. Once she had the 'pup Lupe' in her jaws, she had no plans of letting the girl go just yet. It didn't feel good to have the girl moving all around and basically clawing at her muzzle, but it was not enough to make Devyn let her go. After all, Devyn was aware that the pain she felt was more so on a mental way then an actual physical way because her shadows were basically her armor. An odd sounds could be heard coming from deep within Devyn's body, something that one could have thought was someone chuckling.

The smoke moved to specifically form in Lupe's view repeatedly so the girl would get the message. Simple as that. She had chased and only put the girl in her mouth because she had ran, but once they had made it back to the school, Devyn lowered her head to careful put the girl down on the ground. She of course made sure they were under shelter first so they would not get wet while they were still stuck out side for the moment. Devyn then broke down her form, it taking a moment for the shadows to start to ripple, because similar to a tar like appearance, and then slide off of her.

"Damn, thought we would have beaten the storm." Devyn muttered as she looked at the downpour before looking to the girl. "Have a fun ride?" Devyn asked with a playful smirk appearing on her face.

A noise came from the not-wofl, and Lupe could almost swear it was chuckling. That only made her more frustrated as they ran, and the rain that caught up to them only increased that frustration. This insolent... Lupe thought with a snarl. She wanted nothing more than to claw this not-wolf's eyes out. However, that smoke came again, continually appearing before her reading 'calm.'

....Calm?

Lupe practically howled with bitter laughter. How was she supposed to be calm in the jaws of a beast? But even so, she stilled. Fine. You want me calmed? Fine. I'll do it just to escape you. Lupe thought. Eventually they stopped and the not-wolf placed her down. Instantly Lupe went to her feet and put distance between the two of them, glaring angrily as the not-wolf changed back into human form. She kept her eyes on the girl as she shook herself to get rid of some of the water in her hair and the infernal furs she had to wear.

The rain had managed to whip away a good portion of the dirt and blood from Lupe's features. Enough to actually reveal what the girl looked like-- to an extent. Whatever potential beauty there was still was marred by the pissed off expression on her face. "No." She replied, growling. "What am I, a pup?"

Devyn was pleased that Lupe did stop with her squirming and trying to claw Devyn's muzzle and face too much. It was not literally hurting Devyn, but the mental pain was almost on the same level and it certainly didn't feel good. If the other girl kept it up she would not have been able to keep her shadow form from allow her sharp teeth to return. That would have likely caused a lot of damaged to the girl if she kept moving around. It would have also been interesting to have to explain why she had accidentally torn the other girl up.

Sorry, she kept moving around and my beast side just wanted her to be still. Devyn thought to herself, knowing that would not have been good enough. They were not inside, but they were at least under shelter now and the dry, inside of a building was literally right there for them. All they had to do was open the door but Lupe seemed more concerned with putting some distance between her and Devyn. Cute. Dev could not help but to take a step closer but she would not press the girl too much. She was completely dry, holding her hands up to try and make sure that she did not get wet as the other girl shook herself.

Yet again Devyn was thankful for what her ability allowed her to do and the bonus with it, even if the negatives sucked. Then there was the growled no, glares, and the question of if Lupe was a pup or not. Devyn chuckled a little. "Kind of. You might not be a pup in the ways of a wolf but you are a pup in the ways of humans, so a pup all the same." Devyn said as she reached into her pockets, looking for something she was certain she brought along. Then she pulled out a bag of jerky in a Ziploc bag, it easily fitting in her deep pockets; yay guy pants. She opened it up and started eating, always needing a little snack after using her power.

"Ready to hid in and hang out with me for a little?" Devyn asked as she offered out a piece of jerky to the other girl. Not that the girl had much choice on the hang out bit because Dev was told to stick around her for a little. Plus she wanted to.
