The dorms at Bellefonte where ok, pretty simple with everything that you could need, bedrooms then a communal area for food and relaxing. So Sammy was pretty happy with the whole deal, he didn't really need any of it to have a good time, but it was always pretty nice to have.
This particular day he felt like relaxing, and enjoying one of his favorite movies, Starship troopers, with his best friend for life Alfred. Having set up the film on the T.V he shrunk down and settled with Alfred on the Couch. Thankfully he had thought about his possible roommates and fashioned some make shift clothes. It had taken the best part of a night, but he now had some very fashionable action figures in his room.
Anyway the film finally got to the main menu, so he jumped on the play button and sunk down into the side of Alfred, using his fur as a pillow and general back rest, nibbling on a piece of popcorn that was bigger than his chest. Life was good. Until he realized that he had forgotten to turn down the volume...
It didn't help that the whole room was now filled with the sound of guns firing and explosions. But he was content with looking at the T.V. which from this size was bigger than any cinema screen he had ever seen. He was so absorbed in the film that he didn't notice the sound of a door opening.

The sound of explosions made Demi roll out of bed and immediately take on an aggressive stance. Gathering the usual dirt and dust that she wore as a thin shell around her had long since become second nature to the little dirt-thumper, as was taking a relatively aggressive pose. Her body already went into full Flow before her mind had even fully woken up. Some of the slightly larger rocks she used as "decoration" had even started to float.
But Demi held still and listened, hearing the sounds thundering from very close by. Were they under attack again? She darted out of her room, flinging the door open, letting it slam. She immediately started looking around, tracing the sound. It didn't quite sound off. Like, Demi should be able to vaguely pinpoint where it was coming from at the least. But it all seemed to be coming from one direction.
"Hey!" Demi yelled, throwing her hands and then jerking one to send a burst of dirt and whatnot into the nearest wall. The sound ought to get attention at the very least. If not, well, Demi had other means of getting attention. They mostly involved physical contact of the beating people up variety.
This film was the best, having munched his way through almost a whole piece of popcorn he was feeling pretty good, he thought he heard someone yell, then the bang confirmed it. Slightly startled he jumped on the pause button, the noise immediately stopped and he could hear the person in the room. And judging from the yell and bang, they where not very happy.
Jumping up onto the arm of the couch he could see who was yelling at him, it seemed to be a girl roughly his age wearing homemade clothes? Bit weird but he couldn't judge looking at the pink Hawaiian material he had used to make this shirt. "Hey, sorry about that, I'm down here by the way, on the couch arm!" He yelled to try and get her attention.
The most immediate problem he had when he shrunk was that everything shrunk, including his vocal cords, so he had to yell, and even then there was no guaranteeing people would be able to hear him. At which point he would normally resort to tossing things at them, or running across their keyboard or something.

Okay, so Demi couldn't actually see anyone, at least at first. she looked around, wondering why someone would leave the television on. Then she heard this strange voice, almost sounding like it was from far away. Her head swiveled until she finally located the source.
Demi's eyes narrowed and she took a few steps closer. It looked... well, it looked like her roommate had... shrunk. She stared at him for several long seconds.
"Turn it down!" she said, finally deciding to refocus on what was important here. She pointed to the side, her finger jutting toward the television, just in case it wasn't beyond obvious what she wanted dealt with. her eyes narrowed into dangerous slits too. After all, Demi was fairly certain it would be easy to squish someone when they were that size.
After a while she seemed to notice him, and even stare at him for a little bit, he wasn't entirely sure why, being in this place you should be used to everything, but it did let him get a good look at her. She seemed to look like she had dirt on her, which was odd. But not that bad.
With a sigh he jumped back onto the sofa and wriggled into his normal clothes, willing himself back to normal size, popping back into the seat wearing a hoodie and some jeans. Even if he did have the pink Hawaiian shirt in his hair.
"But why? Its such a good film, want to join me? Theres popcorn involved right Alfred?" He said to his roommate, ticking Alfred's head and holding the bowl of popcorn up to her.

The guy... seemed to become a real sized person. So he could shrink. Yep, definitely a lame power. He wore some lame clothing too: some sort of bright pink thing that was brilliantly decorated and just... awful. Demi had to stare at it, and at him.
"It's loud," Demi repeated, turning to look at the movie. The loud bothered her most of the time. The only exception to that was music, and sometimes even then Demi just opted to play her hard music at lower volumes. Or she listened to something a little more... relaxing. Not that she was really into music that much.
"What's it even about anyway?" Demi asked, taking a few steps closer, standing next to the seat where her roommate had situated himself. "And who's Alfred?" Did they have yet another roommate that Demi didn't know about?
What was this film? WHAT WAS THIS FILM? how could anyone not know the glory that was Starship troopers. The masterpiece to end all masterpieces, the well you get the idea. "This my new found friend, is a film where humanity finds another race of creatures, who are superior and well want to wipe out humans and populate the earth." He said with a little smile.
Pressing play, and turning down the film, he didn't need it as loud now that he was normal sized, just at the part to see one of the bugs rip a man in half. Pretty gruesome yet oddly comical at the same time. "You see those are the Bugs, they are just better than the humans." he said, using the film to illustrate his point.
"Oh and this is Alfred." he said holding out his arm so the mouse could run up it and sit on his head, Alfred had also seemed to have stuffed his face with some of the popcorn, so had a odd look on his face, like a really big smile.

A film where humanity found... was this some kind of documentary or something? Demi looked at it, studying the picture as it started back up. No, this didn't look like something that had actually happened; it must be one of those science fiction stories, much like the manga that she had back in her room. At least he'd turned it down now, even if he'd probably done that so he could actually be heard talking.
Bugs, "They don't look better," Demi pointed, out flicking her fingers. "Like, we're better than--" she began, only to pause as she saw the mouse. Demi stared at it for a few seconds before looking back at the guy holding it. "Is that another mutant?" she asked, pointing at it. "Like, someone transformed? Or do you just have a pet who--" Demi paused. Actually, having a mouse for a pet would make some sense if you could shrink down. That was... remarkably practical.
Demi looked over at the guy. He probably just had it for dumb reasons though. He definitely wouldn't, like, think of training his mouse so he could ride it into battle or anything like that.
"They don't look better no, but they have the coordination and purpose that we lack, humans can work together, but not in the way that a colony of ants can, or in this case a colony of bugs." He said looking at the screen. He could hear her start mumbling about if Alfred was a mutant or a mouse.
"Oh Alfred? Nah hes a mouse, plain and simple, had him for years now, cant be separated, hes my adventure buddy." He said reaching up and stroking the mouse. It was true, Alfred was by far his best friend and he would die for the little mouse, some people might see that as a little stupid, but it was just the way that he was.
"But yeah, a race that has natural coordination, versus humanity and their free will, their fear. Who do you think would win?" He asked popping another few pieces of popcorn into his mouth, then giving another piece to Alfred on his head.

Demi raised her brows as he kept talking about the bugs. Demi looked the screen for a moment, at least until the topic of the mouse got brought up. Then it was right back to the mouse... who turned out to be a mouse. Demi stared at it for a while, blinking. Still, that didn't mean that he hadn't trained it or anything. Demi almost thought about asking him about that, but he'd turned the conversation right back to the film.
Demi turned to look at it.
"They don't have style or adaptability, so unless they've also got, like, a resistance to weapons and a whole bunch of them then people are gonna win,' Demi said. She paused for a moment. "And people made it, right? So it's not like they're gonna make something where they lose. It looks stupid though," but she was now leaning a little against the chair, studying the screen, trying yet again to figure it out. Television just kept escaping Demi: she didn't see the point in sitting there and watching something when you could be out doing instead.
"Well it looks that way, but the bugs are nearly unlimited. They have queens and reproductive rates far beyond human levels, plus well look at them, they can cut through flesh like a knife through butter." He said pointing at the TV, just as a part which showed the ferocity of the bugs in action came on.
"So I haven't seen you around before, wonder why that is? do you like spend allot of your time in your room or something?" He asked while he grabbed another piece of popcorn from the bowl. He did think that it could be because he had developed a tendency to leave his room via less conventional means, such as through the walls, and under the doors.

Nearly unlimited? And they could apparently go through flesh. "Yeah, if you throw, like, enough idiots at a wall you'll eventually knock it down, but, like, one guy with a hammer and enough smarts could totally knock it down," which again demonstrated part of Demi's very lopsided education. Tactics? Nearly brilliant, especially for her age, and could figure out something as simple as how to handle troops with greater numbers easily. Powers? Piece of cake. Just don't ask her to explain literally anything on the screen beyond that.
"Huh? Uh, I guess I spend a lot of time training," she shrugged. "I don't really like being inside if I can help it. There's a lot of noise and not, like, the good kind," like some of the music that she'd found enjoyable. she was starting to think about branching out a little more, but everything just sounded so much like noise to her. She looked back to it. "Most people also don't like me, and they're all idiots, so I don't care," she shrugged, not even caring if she'd just technically lumped this guy right in with the rest of them.
"Oh you train? That's cool, so Like power training? Or we talking martial arts? Because I spend allot of time wandering the inner workings of the school, you hear allot in those walls. And the pipes go to allot of surprising places." He said to her comment, he didn't mind that she basically called him an idiot, maybe she had issues. But she hadn't gone after him directly.
"Although Ill admit, Being small can have some major disadvantages, Have you ever been caught in a spiders web and watched it come for you? Looking like it was twice your size? I'm telling you that shits nightmare fuel." he said continuing the theme of powers, she seemed more at ease with that topic, and damn was that spider still haunting him at night.

The training was cool? Yeah, sometimes people did say that, especially the younger ones. Demi looked over at Sammy, giving him the "are you freaking stupid?" look as he continued. He kept talking about his own power too, going on about finding things and prattling. Demi just kept stating as he talked on and on about getting caught in spider's webs and all that junk. Her attention flicked toward the screen, then back at him.
"So, like, that?" she had to point at the screen before giving him a "are you really that dumb?" look.
"Urm yeah pretty much." He said as he followed her finger to look at the screen, which sure enough showed one of the bugs. "I know that I'm kinda dumb, I can recognize the look. But I also have my friend with me all the time to help, so I prefer a life lived to the full." He said happily.
He had dealt with people that tried to get him down before, the kind that would just belittle him and make jokes about his mouse being his only friend, but to be honest he didn't care, because who else could say that they had enjoyed the world from his perspective, or seen the inside of pipeline. Seen the real world as he puts it.
